SkinStore 12 Miracles of Beauty 2017 Advent Calendar Review + Coupon

SkinStore 12 Miracles of Beauty Advent Calendar is a 12-day advent calendar featuring full-size and deluxe size beauty products.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Box: SkinStore 12 Miracles of Beauty Advent Calendar

The Cost: $99

The Products: “The beautiful presentation case features 12 wonderful products from the world’s best, premium beauty brands, including: Caudalie, Dermalogica and FOREO. Each product has been specially chosen to ensure you discover a brand new treat that provides every day confidence across makeup, skin care and hair care.”

The box itself is beautiful! It includes 12 drawers full of goodies, gold foil accents, and doors that open to reveal the 12 days!

OK, let's go through each drawer:

Day 1: Caudalie Eau de Beaute Beauty Elixir - 30 ml Value $18

This is a toning mist that helps set makeup and tighten the appearance of pores. The mist is SUPER fine (love) and the scent is fab, too. (It's a mix of essential oils like rosemary, peppermint, and bitter orange.)

Day 2: Philip Kingsley Elasticizer - 75 ml Value $19

This Elasticizer is designed to be used on damp hair for 20 minutes before shampooing. It’s a deep conditioning treatment you can use twice a week. I’ve sampled this before and didn’t see amazing results, so I thought I’d try it again – still nothing substantial. I’m wondering if it works better on certain hair types? Let me know if you’ve tried it and have any tips!

Day 3: Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black - .03 oz Value $9

This eyeliner lives up to its "silky" name! It glides on, with intense pigment, and it is smudge-proof, too. (Swatched in lower photo.)

Day 4: Erno Laszlo Exfoliate & Detox Detoxifying Hydrogel Mask – Value $16

OMG this mask was such a luxe treat! It's a two-part mask so you can get a perfect fit for your face, and the formula is so soothing. It's designed to illuminate dull skin and remove dead skin cells. I liked it so much I think I'll buy more (and I get a lot of masks in subscription boxes!)

(And it is free of Phthalates, Parabens, Petrolatum, Sulfates and Mineral Oil!)

Day 5: Dr. Botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil - 15ml Value $29.25

This facial oil is advertised as 100% natural, so I was disappointed to see that parfum and Red 33 (a synthetic dye) were listed in the ingredients. (I wish skincare companies wouldn't add unnecessary dyes to their products, but that's probably just my pet peeve.)

Those ingredient issues aside, I loved the feel of this oil. It's SO lightweight, smells sweet, and absorbs quickly.

Day 6: Dermalogica Multivitamin Thermafoliant FULL SIZE! Value $57

Full-size Dermalogica? This advent calendar just went up a notch in my book! And this product is pretty fab, too. It's designed to "polish away dulling skin to reveal smoother, fresher skin."

The polishing particles are SO fine - super gentle on my skin, and the best part is that this immediately left my skin feeling incredibly smooth. I'm thrilled to have a full-sized tube!

Day 7: Monuskin Recovery Balm Value $37.40

This is a rich cream and super hydrating. It's designed for sensitive skin, and I found it to be very gentle on my skin. It's a great winter-weather/dry-skin moisturizer!

Day 8: The BrowGal Skinny Pencil in Blond - FULL SIZE! Value $23

This pencil includes a built-in sharpener and spoolie:

The color is a little too light for me, but otherwise, it's a perfect brow pencil. The formula is great, and it has just enough pigment. Here it is swatched beneath the pixi eyeliner:

Day 9: BalanceMe Pure Skin Face Wash - FULL SIZE! Value $23

This creamy facial cleanser is 99% natural, ingredient-conscious, and designed for sensitive skin. The formula didn't dry out my skin, either - good stuff!

Day 10: Grow Gorgeous Hair Density Serum Intense - Value $50

This serum is designed to help make your hair look thicker and longer in 8 days! You apply 20 drops to your hands and massage into your scalp both day and night. I thought this would result in greasy looking hair, but no! It actually added a little volume! And the scent is nice, too. It reminds me of the fancy products they use at my hair salon.

Day 11: Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist - 30ml Value $30

This is one of my favorite items in the box. It’s the lightest/finest facial mist I’ve ever tried, and it smells like the beach! I discovered this thanks to the Net-A-Porter Beauty Box, and I'm thrilled to have another one!

Day 12: Foreo Luna Play – $39 Value

If you aren’t familiar with the Foreo Luna Play, it’s a pulsating device that allows you to get a much deeper clean when cleansing your face. (Similar to a Clarisonic.)

This device is 100 uses and not rechargeable, so a few MSA readers recommended using it as a tool to clean makeup brushes once the battery runs out. Foreo also gives tips for recycling your Play device. (This also came with a coupon code to save $39 off the full-size rechargeable Luna Foreo Device).

I’d been a Clarisonic user for years, but last year I switched to Foreo thanks to the first time I sampled this device!

Both Clarisonic and Foreo do a great job of cleaning my skin thoroughly. (While using the Foreo Play, I did wish that there were different intensity settings like there are on Clarisonic, but these options exist on the full-sized versions.)

The big difference for me is the silicone brush surface area. It’s nonporous and will resist any bacteria build up. With Clarisonic, you have to always buy replacement brush heads. (At $22 a new brush head, switched out every 2-3 months, the costs add up!)

It has one speed only, and an on/off button on the back:

Verdict: This box has a total value of $350.65! I think that's great for a box you can get for $79.20! (Use coupon code BRAD12MIRACLES to get the box for only $79.20.) And everything is a great size - no filler items! The only miss for me is the brow pencil color, but besides that, no complaints!

What do you think of the SkinStore 12 Miracles of Beauty Advent Calendar?

Just got mine and the box is huge!! My only disappointment is that I got the eyebrow pencil in the color chocolate (dark brown) and was expecting the blonde one. If anyone wants to swap let me know.

Judy

I received blonde if you would like to swap.

Has anyone gotten theirs yet? Or did I miss a release date?

I ordered on 11/10, and the status almost immediately went to “Shipped.” As of today, 11/16, it now shows as “On its way to USPS.” Which I would consider as a precondition of being “Shipped.” It would have been more honest for the status to have remained at “Preparing Order” till now.

So, have any been received yet? Or have they all been in preparation?

Thanks!

On its way to USPS actually means it’s in transit (by another carrier). Another carrier transports to USPS closer to you, then USPS will deliver to your house. It’s the same with Look Fantastic packages that ship to me. (I also got the calendar, and mine is also in transit to USPS.)

Thanks! That makes it more hopeful!

Got mine today but don’t know who delivered it because it came before my regular mail delivery. It is extremely well-packaged in two X-large sturdy cardboard boxes. I am very pleased with this and so glad I also got a second one for a gift. The 3-piece bag set will make a nice gift on its own, but my $14 beauty sample is a 2 ml foil packet of REN facial rinse. When using the Grow Gorgeous hair serum, be careful when inserting the dropper because my bottle was full to the top and it ran over the sides. (Nice to complain about too much product for a change!) I also like that the drawers slide open and nothing has to be ripped apart, so I can re-use it for gag gifts or with beauty sub products that I am passing on. I hope all my holiday purchases will be as gratifying! Thanks to Liz for that tempting and accurate review!

While I would never pay $14 for a foil packet, I have to admit that the REN scrub was fantastic! I could hardly believe that was my skin after using it.

Liz Cadman

Yay so glad you like it! I was seriously impressed! 🙂

Teresa

I ordered mine on 11/9 and it was delivered Wednesday 11/15 by usps.
Waiting to open it until December though.
Still need to find advent calendars for my husband and daughter so we all have something fun to open.

I like the box a lot but I’m kind of annoyed I paid $120 for it (originally priced at $149 too!) when it’s now available for $80. =(

This is a calendar I couldn’t pass up. Everything will get used except the brow pencil. I absolutely love the Omorovicza face spray and I got my initial one from Net-A-Porter too. I don’t use any other brand of spray but before I tried it, I didn’t see the need for this type of product. This is the first advent calendar I’ve purchased…so far. I’m really hoping Net-A-Porter does a holiday box.

Dang it! I knew I shouldn’t have read the review. Now, I really want it. I’d wanted it before I read the review, to be fair. But I always love knowing what is full size & what the retail value is of something before I buy it. What to do?

carol

You only have to add $20.80 in products to qualify for the gift, and if they’re from the same brand, may qualify for an additional free bonus!

Thank you for the great review! I’ve been hestitant to purchase any of the Advent calendars due to the prices and included products, but after reading this I purchased one and a beard care set for my husband so I was able to get the bag set and sample GWP’s! Thank you for the coupon code…it definitely unraveled my last bit of self control!😜

WOW this is a fabulous box!

So I don’t want to try everything in here — in fact, I can’t stand the Foreo Luna Play (I let Sneaky run off with mine from the Allure box, she likes to bite silicone things…), and the brow color would be way too light for me, too. But the two things I really do want add up to over $100 if purchased individually. Which makes this a good deal.

This is the first beauty advent calendar that’s really been tempting for me. I think because it is not the same stuff you see in all the other calendars.

Darcie

Hi everyone. I just ordered 2 and wanted to share what I found out.
1) The discount code works on multiples.
2) Shipping was free.
3) When you spend over $100, you get a free beauty bag set which they value at $45 AND a beauty sample that they value at $14.
4) My cost was 158.40 for $760.30 worth of product.
Of course, that’s RV, but I’m still very happy with this. So, if you want this, find a friend and order 2! Thanks @Liz

@Darcie Did your order show the free bag set When you were purchasing? I can’t seem to get that added to my order summary. Thanks!

kayakgirl

I’m no longer able to see the bags in my cart when trying to check out, even over $100.00. I think they must have sold out.

Darcie

Yes, the free extras showed up in my cart. However, you have to spend 100 or more.

potboiler

thanks Darcie

I ordered a calendar and a set of l’octane hand cream ( can never have enough). The extras look great! thanks for taking the time to share.

This is enticing. Was there a promo code in order to get this for $79.20? It’s listed for $99 on the website.

Liz Cadman

Use coupon code BRAD12MIRACLES to get it for $79.20 🙂

Apricot

Thank you. I swear I didn’t see the coupon code as I read it, I must be really tired. 🙂

Wow this is like a years worth supply! It’s almost better just to get this box than a monthly beauty fix.
