Purple Bag – Retail Value 8?

This time around, you could choose a black, gold, or purple bag. The gold was pretty but I have something similar so I chose this purple!

It’s lined, and roomy! It’s a nice size and very handy.

Tarte Powder Player Bamboo Pressed Powder Blush – Retail Value $34

I love Tarte’s signature, sustainably-crafted, bamboo brushes. I chose this pressed powder brush because I also chose a pressed powder foundation.

The synthetic bristles are really soft, and they’re densely packed so that you can buff in your foundation. It feels high quality and I’m happy with the performance.

Tarte Confidence Creamy Powder Foundation in Fair Neutral – Retail Value $35

Tarte’s foundations can be hit or miss for me because I’m so pale. This powder foundation and their Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer both work for me, but I don’t think any of their other foundation formulas are quite my right paleness/undertone.

Inside the box, the pretty golden compact came in a nice little sleeve – a great idea for keeping it closed/safe when tossed in a makeup bag or travel.

This foundation is hypoallergenic and designed to mask redness, dark spots, uneven skin tone, and excess oil while softening the look of fine lines and pores. It’s meant to be moisturizing, anti-aging, and buildable. I didn’t find a huge amount of coverage from this, but it’s great if you need a light-medium coverage or even using it on top of a tinted moisturizer for a little more coverage/setting powder.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Blushing Bride – Retail Value $29

Tarte’s blushes are how I got into the Tarte brand! If I could only wear one blush for the rest of my life, I’d choose Tarte’s blush in the shade Exposed. It’s just so perfect on every skin tone and natural looking, and neutral enough to go with any makeup look.

I already have one in Exposed that I’m using plus a backup, so I chose to try the shade Blushing Bride (I have a bit of a collection of these blushes….), which is a rosy pink.

I’ve consistently found these blushes to perform well. The color payoff is nice and they blend great. I’ve never clocked if they actually last 12 hours but I know I’ve never had any problems with it wearing off throughout the day. These blushes last forever, too – it takes months for me to make a dent! Great quality and great value.

Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara – Retail Value $23

This is Liz’s all-time favorite mascara! (She’s also a big reason for my exploration and love of Tarte.) This mascara does a little bit of it all – lengthens, curls, volumizes, and conditions.

The brush looks simple but does a great job distributing product evenly and separating my lashes without making them look spidery or clumpy. It’s a drier-feeling formula so you get a little more control over application and it’s not goopy at all. It lasts well and I’ve also never had a problem with it smudging under my eyes!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Drench Lip Splash Lipstick in Bonfire – Retail Value $22 (found on sale here for $17)

All of Tarte’s products are made with good-for-you ingredients and this lipstick is no exception. It has a vegan formula that’s made to help firm, protect, and treat your lips while delivering opaque and bold color.

I was feeling a little vampy when I ordered and chose this blackberry shade. I love dark and bold colors on my lips for fall and winter! This formula is definitely hydrating and the wear time is great. You can see this and all these products on my face later in this article.

Tarte Sex Kitten Liquid Liner – Retail Value $20

I love liquid liners, especially ones in felt-tip or brush-tip pen form. I feel like I have so much better control and precision!

This is a good, basic, black liquid liner pen. I haven’t tried this one before now but I couldn’t resist because of the adorable cat on the lid!

Like I said earlier, this is a good basic liquid liner pen. I loved the precision I can get with it and it dries down to a super smudge-proof set. Thumbs up!

Here’s swatches of everything! You really can’t see the foundation at the top but that’s because it matches my skin really well. Then, you see the bush, lipstick, and eyeliner.

Here’s a look I made using everything in this kit! The foundation (applied with the brush), eyeliner, mascara, blush, and lipstick. I think all the products were high quality and a steal with the price of the build-your-own kits!

Here’s a better look at the liner and mascara. All of these items are definitely going to be used by me!

The Verdict: These Tarte Build Your Own Custom Beauty Kits are not to be missed! It’s refreshing to have them offer you your choice of each category rather than having it be a total mystery like just about any other cosmetic brand that does these occasionally released kits. The value is fantastic for the products you get. The value for my kit adds up to $171! I’m definitely happy with that.
