All the food samples were from Purina, so while there wasn’t an information card or booklet, there was this insert encouraging you to sign up for “Subscribe and Save” for Purina products.

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Broths

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Broths 2

Fancy Feast Broths Gourmet Cat Complement in Chicken and Whitefish (1 pouch) – Buy 15 Pouches for $18.56

This is a wet food with recognizable ingredients and lots of broth (hence the name). These are meant to be a supplement rather than an “only” food for your cat. This is the one item in the box I was familiar with so I already knew my cats liked it. (Monkey licked up pretty much all of the broth himself.)

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Chicken Egg

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Chicken Egg 2

Purina Beyond Grain Free in White Meat Chicken and Egg (6 oz) – Buy a 3 Pound Bag for $9.34

This is a grain-free dry food with chicken as the first ingredient. It is also free of soy and poultry by-product meal. I am going to sound like a broken record because my cats are not picky at all, but they pretty much all liked this one. I may use the rest as treats.

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Muse Infused

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Muse Infused 2

Purina Muse Infused Natural Salmon Recipe (3 oz) – Buy 24, 3 oz Cans for $28.32

This is a pate-style wet food. I didn’t think it was too stinky. It didn’t really have much in the way of broth, but my kitties still got pretty excited over it, anyway. This is our first time trying anything from the “Muse” product line.

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Muse Masterpieces 2

Purina Muse Masterpieces Natural Chicken Recipe (3 oz) – Buy 24, 3 oz Cans for $28.32

I’m not sure what to call this style of cat food (stew-like?). You can identify some of the ingredients and there is a bit more broth than with the Muse Infused food. This one does have gluten, but it is free of corn and soy. I am kind of interested in the quail and pheasant recipes, those are things you don’t see every day.

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Prime Plus

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Prime Plus 2

Purina ProPlan Prime Plus Salmon and Tuna Entrée (3 oz) – Buy 24, 3 oz Cans for $21.36

This is a senior (7+ years old) wet food. It is a pate style and is high in protein (so don’t regularly feed it to cats with kidney issues), which may help older cats keep their weight down. This was pretty popular with everyone, too.

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 ProPlan

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 ProPlan 2

Purina Pro Plan Prime Plus Chicken and Rice (6 oz) – Buy a 5.5 Pound Bag for $20.99

This is a senior (7+ years old) food but three of my four testers are seniors (Sneaky is 9, Madison is 10, and Monkey is either 11 or 12) so that is appropriate. This food is designed for digestive support (it has some prebiotic fiber to help beneficial gut bacteria) and it also has some antioxidants. Angus liked this quite a bit even though he is not a senior cat (I wouldn’t feed this to him as his regular food since he is not even 2 yet, but eating a little can’t hurt).

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Tender Selects

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Tender Selects 2

Purina One Tender Selects Blend with Real Chicken (6 oz) – Buy a 7 Pound Bag for $9.23

This is a less expensive dry food that does contain wheat, corn, and soy, so I probably wouldn’t feed it to my crew as a daily food, but they enjoyed the sample well enough. This one has omega-6 fatty acids for healthy skin and coat and is also supposed to support your cat’s immune system. (That last part is kind of difficult to evaluate.)

This isn’t the kind of box where the cats can do anything other than eat, but I figured I’d show you some cat photos anyway:

Amazon Cat Food Samples November 2017 Sneaky

And OF COURSE, Sneaky was into the kibble.

Mr. Kitty can’t have these foods due to his inflammatory bowel disease. Also he is not looking his best right now because he had emergency surgery last week to have his left eye removed. So you won’t see him in cat subscription reviews for awhile, but he is doing OK, all things considered.

Verdict: The items in the Amazon Cat Food Sample Box are not available for individual purchase (that is, you’d need to buy a whole case of cans or a much larger bag of kibble), but there were seven samples, which averages out to about $1 each (or free if you remember to use the credit). I think that is worthwhile to try some new products. The dry food sizes, in particular, are generous and enough to test out over several meals. Plus, my cats are Fancy Feast fanatics and you can use the credit on Fancy Feast, so it was worth it to me from a value perspective, as well. At least 3 of the 4 cats (and sometimes all 4) I gave these foods to, were interested in each food, so I’d say this sample box was a success.

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this box was still available!

Best wishes to Mr. Kitty during his healing process! And I hope you’re doing well yourself, Ragan.

Ragan, thanks for another great review, especially with the cat pics. Best wishes to Mr. Kitty – hope he recovers soon!!

My two cats are super picky. With cans it’s pretty easy to test out new flavors, but I hate buying a big bag of dry food and then having them not eat it. So I definitely like this sample box option. Hopefully they will do more of this again in the future so we can try an even larger range of brands.

All cats are beautiful to me no matter what – but your hairy black one is super-gorgeous! Looks like my Jessica.

I may order this – I love the Amazon Prime perks.

I was happy to get a box of Purina for my cat. She likes most Purina as I think they’re pretty close to her favorite Purina. I used the credit to get Fancy Feast, too. Best wishes to your cat family.

The vet wants us to add wet food to our cat’s dry-food diet, so this will be an easy way to try a few different kinds and see if he likes them. If he’s like your cats, he should!

Aww poor Mr. Kitty. I hope he feels better soon.

I did the same thing – got the box because I knew I’d be rolling it back in to Fancy Feast. I feed the Solid Gold kibble to my cats but I view the little kibble packets as, at worst, a little kitty “junk food” treat. They liked and ate all of it.

this is a good deal! Just ordered. Is it ok to feed senior cat food to 3 year old cats?

Ragan

I wouldn’t give it as the main food, but like a few times here and there isn’t going to hurt.

Poor Mr. Kitty – I hope he heals fast.

He is doing pretty well so far. It has only been 4 days since the surgery, though.
