Benevolent Beauty Box December 2017 Review
This month’s box features four makeup products and one skin care item. Let’s check it out:
Every box includes a folded info card. The card provides details about each item and the retail values.
Ardency Inn Modster Long Play Supercharged Lip Color “Black is Red” - Retail Value $25
This lipstick is very creamy, pigmented, and long lasting - it will leave a stain on your lips even after a meal! I also love the tube’s magnetic closure. If you love bold colors, you will definitely love this lipstick, however, this deep red color is way too dark for me to use daily. I use my finger to dab it on my lips and use as a lip stain instead.

Laritzy 12.1 Eyeshadow Palette (EU approved version) - Retail Value $36 (found here for $30)
Since this is a high-value item in the box, I had high hopes for its performance, but unfortunately, this product did not live up to my expectations. First off, the eyeshadow pans aren’t attached properly to the palette. Some of them are tilted and moved around when I tried to swatch with my fingers (as shown in the close-up photo). The quality of eyeshadows wasn’t very consistent. Their shimmers are gorgeous (very buttery and pigmented!), while the mattes are dry, powdery, and harder to blend. All of the colors lasted about 6 hours on my eyes with eyeshadow primer.

Laritzy Eye Pencil “Gold” - Estimated Value $18
I couldn’t find the exact product on their website so I estimated using their lip pencil price instead.
Sadly, this is another miss for me. The shade of this eye pencil is very pretty but way too light to show up on my skin. The texture was also kind of hard and did not apply as smoothly as other eyeliner pencils I own.
Here is the swatch of the eye pencil, below Ardency lipstick and above Laritzy 12-1 palette.
Starlooks Perfecting Eye/Face Primer - Listed Value $5.50
Although the information card states that it can be used to prep both eyes and face for makeup application, the size of the tube is very small so I think I’m going to use it mainly as an eye primer. This silicone primer did a good job of keeping my eye makeup in place for more than 6 hours despite my oily eyelids. I will definitely use up the whole thing.
Volante Radiant Youth Essential Firming Oil - 10 ml. Retail Value $35 (found here for $26.25)
This luxe oil is lightweight, absorbs easily, and has a light sweet scent. I have been mixing this oil with my face serum every morning since the weather got colder and drier. I felt like this oil helped balance my skin, keeping it plumped and moisturized but not oily. I really enjoy it.
And this is the look I completed with everything I received from Benevolent Beauty box this month. Since I was heading out for a wedding, I didn’t want my lips to be too bold, so I only dapped a little bit of the lipstick onto my lips and applied a lip gloss on top.
The Verdict: The value of this box added up to $119.50, which is more than 3 times the cost of the box. Despite the fact that the value is high, I think this month’s Benevolent Beauty Box has more misses than hits for me. My favorite product was definitely the facial oil. Overall, I think that this box did a great job of curating cruelty-free products, and the majority of the items are vegan as well.
