BookCase.Club Read to Me Box December 2017 Review
Tulip Loves Rex by Alyssa Satin Capucilli - Retail Value $17.99 (Found here for $9.98)
Alyssa Capucilli, author of the beloved Biscuit series, wrote this delightful tale about a girl named Tulip who isn’t like other girls. She loves to dance more than anything at all. When she meets Rex at the park and quickly discovers that he’s a dog unlike any other, they realize they’re meant to be together forever. Luckily for Tulip, her parents agree! My kids loved this book.
Billy and Goat at the State Fair by Dan Yaccarino - Retail Price $17.99 (Found here used for $6.33)
I’ve never been a fan of Dan Yaccarino’s illustrative style and was disappointed to see another one of his books this month. This wasn’t any better than last month’s, unfortunately. Billy is entering his goat at the state fair. He’s nervous that he won’t win a ribbon, even though he believes his goat to be the best. It was a boring book, sorry to say.
The Nuts: Bedtime at the Nut House by Eric Litwin - Retail Value $17.99 (Found here for $11.61)
It’s bedtime at the nut house, but Wally Nut and Hazel Nut keep ignoring Mama Nut and don’t want to head up to bed. Not until Mama gets angry do the nuts finally go up to bed. They’re worried Mama Nut might not love them anymore, but she assures them they’ll always be her sweet little nuts. Eric Litwin is the author of the very popular Pete the Cat series. My kids enjoyed this silly story more than I did.
Before We Met by Laura Krauss Melmed - Retail Value $17.99 (Found here for $14.43)
This is a truly stunning book about a mother’s love for her yet to be born child. It tells of the love she has for the baby “before we met” and the dreams she has as well. I think this would make a perfect baby shower present. The rich colors throughout are soothing and the story is filled with tenderness.
The Verdict: The retail value of BookCase.Club this month was over $71.97, which is more than triple the cost of the box ($9.99 a month plus $5.00 shipping). I think getting four hardcover books for only $14.99 a month (less with longer subscriptions) is phenomenal. Even though not every book was a hit for us personally, we gladly pass the books along to friends, and I bring them into my school library as well.
To Wrap Up:
Can I still get this box if I sign up today? No, order before the 25th to get the next box. (Boxes ship on or before the 1st of each month.)
NEW DEAL: Use code CRATE50 to get 50% off your first box!
Value Breakdown: This box costs $14.99 (price + shipping), but I received $71.96 worth of products inside. Proportionally, that means I paid about $3.75 per book, each of which retails at $17.99.
