Box of Happies is a monthly subscription box for handmade goods. It’s a great way to discover new Etsy artisans.
I kind of like these plastic cases. They are a good size for storing beads or other craft supplies (and goodness knows, I have enough of those…).
This box was sent to us at no cost for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
The Subscription Box: Box of Happies
The Cost: $29.99/month for a single upcoming month of your choice (when I played with the shopping cart I was also charged tax but I think that’s because they’re in the same state I am) or $29.49 for a random box from a past month; save with longer subscriptions. You can also add a bar of soap or candle to your box for $6.49, or a piece of jewelry for $8.
ACTIVE DEAL: Get a bonus handmade necklace in your first box!

Included was an information card listing the items in the box.
Nerdtastic Handmade Designs Tinted Lip Balm – Retail Value $4.99
I was going to show you a swatch picture but this didn’t show up on my arm unless I held it *just so* in the light, and I couldn’t capture that in a photograph. At any rate, it works just fine as a lip balm, plus it is vegan and has a slight strawberry flavor that I find pleasant.
Broken Record Boutique Adjustable Bracelet – Listed Value $10
This isn’t in the Broken Record Boutique Etsy shop so I used the value from the information card. Box of Happies is a jewelry heavy subscription and you will get all different metal tones. This is nice and simple and delicate, which is my preference for jewelry, and it is easy to get on and off and to adjust. (For the record, though, I have pretty small hands and wrists.)
Box of Happies Set of 3 Hair Ties – Listed Value $4
These colors remind me of summer but that is not a bad thing right now, at all. I will be passing these along to someone else, though, as this kind of hair tie never actually stays in my hair. (For what it’s worth, most Box of Happies items are nicely packaged for gifting.)
Box of Happies Keyring – Listed Value $7
Although I am not much for jewelry and household items with sayings on them, I *am* actually in need of a keychain right now (my husband and I now have the same make and model of car and things get confusing between our regular and spare sets of keys in the kitchen), so this will go on my spare set of keys to clearly mark them as being for my car.
Box of Happies Necklace – Listed Value $15
This honeycomb pattern is fun. (As a chemist, this also makes me think of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, but I’m sure that was not the intent behind this design.) I will happily wear any metal tone jewelry (my complexion has neutral undertones, or at least I like to think so), so this will work nicely for me. The metal plating is nice and even.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $41 for the November 2017 Box of Happies. That’s a pretty good value for this box and is a little higher than usual, as a matter of fact. Everything was great for either my own personal use or for gifting, and once again, I learned about a couple of new Etsy sellers, including getting a chance to sample their goods without paying for separate shipping.
What did you think of the November Box of Happies? Do you get any artisan or handmade subscriptions?
