I CAN’T WAIT!!! I LOVED Decembers box ( I am obsessed with everything that was in it), so I know this will be amazing too by seeing the first 2 products. I could never have enough palettes, I love to collect them!

Perhaps I’m alone in this, but I am not only not looking forward to this new eyeshadow palette, but have to say that it looks ‘dirty’. Yes, I fully realize that it is part of the design of the packaging, but it truly makes less excited about even opening it up, much less using it. And the Dr. Brandt’s item looks great as usual, but so far, consider me unimpressed (especially after the december box).

Agreed!

I would much rather they include a palette I want to try like a Huda beauty obsessions palette in warm brown or smoky, or a Jaclyn Hill palette, or Nyx warm rust palette, or Wet n Wild walking on eggshells, or the comfort palette… things people rave about but I want to try.

Subscription boxes are the only way I get makeup other than the basics of foundation etc. I wish there was like a best sellers box… this palette I may use infrequently and get a cluttered vanity.

Anyone else think like a highly rated best sellers box is better than trying obscure makeup or some niche makeup? Anything out there like that?

I quit glossybox bc of the hair product clutter. Now I’m feeling a palette clutter coming soon! I have one too many of lipsticks in the not so perfect shades etc. Maybe I should really try the swap site. Is it ok if I used a product once like on an eyebrow gel to see if the color matches?

Help! Lol

I mostly agree and I am probably going to unsub Boxy. I only haven’t because the “wait list” is such a hassle if you want to reactivate. But, respectfully, you are never going to see something like the Jaclyn Hill palette in a boxy. The size alone would prevent them from shipping it. But also several of the palettes that you mentioned are so popular and selling pretty well right now, there is no incentive for these brands to give them away/sell at a loss to beauty boxes. The Tarte palette they had a few months ago was alright but it wasn’t one of their better quality palettes and it was already discounted on a lot of sites. It was a good deal for both companies because Tarte could unload them and Boxycharm could wow everyone with a prestige brand.

Lisa

I feel the same way! I cancelled my sub and I don’t feel like I’m missing out since I have so much to use up now I actually feel like I am saving $$$.

Jackie

I’m super excited! Ringing in the new year right! Although I am on product overload, I just can’t bring myself to cancel. I put the December box contents and my december ipsy bag and contents in with all the unopened makeup I’ve been saving and I’m going to donate it all to the local Womens shelter. Im sure it will make their christmas a little brighter!

To everyone saying your on product overload, maybe consider making a donation to your local shelter. There are people that have nothing That would love to have a few makeup items❤

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy new year! 💋

That is a beautiful idea… I never thought of that

You seem like a great person!!

Reply ButtonReply

Jackie

Aww thank you! I haven’t always been a good person, but once I got sober and had my kids, I did a complete 360. I’ve needed help in the past so this is my way of giving back. I don’t have extra funds to donate, so I donate makeup and clothes and things my kids outgrow to help make someone else’s life a little brighter 🙂

I hope you don’t mind me co-opting your message but donating to a local LGBT shelter is great too! They give makeup to trans women (or homeless/abused lgbt women in general) and they rarely get any makeup/self care donations they can give to women in their care, so if you don’t have a nice women’s shelter or want to help some lgbt ladies in your area you might consider a local lgbt shelter as well! :)))

Reply ButtonReply

Jackie

I’m glad you said this because (not to sound ignorant) I didn’t even know there was LGBTQ specific shelters as I’ve never seen one around my area but I will definitely google and see where there is one close to me. I get a few different sub boxes so I usually have a stockpile within a few months.

Great idea thank you!!!

Brittany Tooson-Stahl

That’s a great idea! I do get products that I don’t use and I typically give it to my friends. Merry Christmas to you too!!!

Deb

I love that idea of donating all the extras! I have so many I never even thought of that.

Veronica

Will the primerbe full sized??

Jackie

Yes it will be!

Already better than Decembers box. What a pile O crap that was. We all thought they’d pull out all the stops for a Xmas box and instead give us the leftovers from the warehouse..and the one thing I did want..Tarteist mascara..no spooly at the end of the wand. Just a nice blunt stick.

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

That sucks about the want. Have you contacted them? They seem responsive through Facebook.

And yeah…this was my first box from them, and I was less than impressed. I have no need for yet another bronzer. Otherwise, I didn’t hate the rest of the stuff; I just didn’t get terribly excited. That said, I love shimmery shadows, so I’m looking forward to the January box.

Reply ButtonReply

Candace

Shaping up to be an excellent box already. I’ve used the original Dr. Brandt Pores No More primer before and it’s a great primer. Don’t know if that translates the luminizing formula, but the original is a solid 9. The palette is not something I will personally wear but I think it’ll see a lot of action during prom season. The face palette may or may not end up in my donations box, just depends on what it is.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

I so want to give my daughter a subscription for Christmas, but won’t because of the wait list. I’m not going to put an IOU in a box with a promise of a subscription eventually 🙁 I do understand why it’s so popular though.

Reply ButtonReply

Candace

I gave my nieces this sub for Christmas. What I did was sign them up in October & they got off the list in December. It seems like the general time on the waitlist seems to be 1-2 months.

Reply ButtonReply

Rashell

I’m trying so hard to subscribe. I should have been off the waitlist but they said there was an issue charging the card. After further inspection and talking to a rep dealing with the card they said they shouldn’t have had any issues and to try again. But seriously this whole “takes up the 3 days” to contact you back is ridiculous. All other websites I’ve dealt with are much more prompt. Just to straighten out this issue (Hopefully) is taking nearly a week. Just for 1 response so far. I feel like the customer service should be either Live Chat, 24/7 email, take 24-48 hrs OR phone rep that calls you back when it’s your turn… That would be more reasonable.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer Dunlop-Gierok

Boxy is known for their HORRID customer service. You may not hear back from them at all. It’s a shame because they’re easily becoming the best sub box but have the worst customer care hands down. The horror stories are vast and wide. You’re better off just waiting the few months to get off the wait list vs ting to contact them

Reply ButtonReply

Rashell

I had waited a couple months now and they had emailed me about how they had an issue charging the card. They had asked to make sure the information was correct and it was. I hate that they have bad customer service, this was the one thing I had been hoping to get for awhile now. I feel like I’m gonna have to email them again, and hope for the best. Because if not.. Sadly I won’t subscribe. I planned on after subbing on the 3 months to invest in the 12 month plan because I’ve always been so jealous of Boxycharm’s spoilers. Gosh this really is a disappointment.

Candace

I couldn’t agree more about their CS. I fortunately have not had to deal with them but I see the struggle others go through with them and that is not even remotely right. It kills my soul to see them do people that way. The solution is so simple. Boxy is an incredible deal but their bad CS team will kill them for a lot of people. It’s a shame.

Tracy Popella

Same here i have been on waitlist fron october 8.

Reply ButtonReply

Lily

So excited!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Mary

Am I the only one not excited about getting more Dr. Brandt because they test on animals? I always give them away / swap them. Boxy is normally good about trying to include more CF items.

Reply ButtonReply

Miz liz

You I want to subscribe to Petit Vour instead? They are exclusively CF.

Reply ButtonReply

Lynn

Aw man yeah that sucks. For some reason I thought they were? But I looked it up and you’re right, they’re one of the “we test where required” companies. I guess that’s better than nothing, but still not the standard I try to go by.

Boxycharm usually is really good about including mainly cruelty free products. If they incorporate substantially more that do test on animals, I think I’d have to cancel.

And I get that they’re not a cruelty free box, but still, it’s something I really appreciated about them, that they almost always use cruelty free products and say they try to do that last time I checked their website.

Reply ButtonReply

amy

looking great so far!

Reply ButtonReply

Christine

That Crown palette has parabens. Even the newer Morphe palettes do not contain parabens anymore.

Reply ButtonReply

Ariel

How do you know that they contain parabens Christine? I cannot find product info anywhere as I believe Boxycharm is where Crown is debuting the palette. Maybe Liz or someone at MSA can get an ingredients list confirmed for us. I just signed up and was taken off the waitlist two weeks later in December, I’m guessing due to how unpopular that box was. I signed up to receive Boxycharm’s famous palettes after falling in love with the WinkyLux palette only to then discover that it includes an ingredient I am avoiding in eye shadows which is in virtually ever Urban Decay, Colourpop, Karity and Juvia palettes: Ferric Ferrocyanide. If this palette has parabens I think I am unsubscribing for now as I would rather subscribe to a box that is more about natural ingredients. Also just got another Tarte
palette in their flash holiday sale 70% off! May try Lola but I see they do not have great customer service either and quality of their palettes don’t seem to be great either from customer reviews.

Reply ButtonReply

AZGirl

I am not surprised!! I got a $25 palette from them and it was the nastiest make up I’ve ever seen. It was like sidewalk chalk LOL I wouldn’t even give it to my 6 year old for play makeup. I tried to talk to them about it but they wouldn’t offer any kind of resolution SO I disputed the charge on my credit card and got my money back- jokes on you and your cancer palette Crown!

Reply ButtonReply

Regina

Another great box! I don’t always love everything myself, but I love being able to surprise others with something nice also!

Reply ButtonReply

Denise

I don’t get luminizing primers It’s underneath the foundation so does it matter? Does it make your face Dewey ?? Anyone know ?? Thanks

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

Heeey MUA here 🙂 *waves* So, light bounces off the skin and it does penetrate foundation. If you are wearing an illumining primer it will reflect the light back through the foundation. Fun Facts! Make Up Forever Ultra HD foundation is formulated with all spherical molecules so the foundation lays into itself and the skin giving it that natural skin look. Other ones have all sorts of shaped molecules and they will refract light and sit unevenly into fine lines and even within it’s self.. Also, light is what plays a vital roll in how contouring products work too. Bronzers reflect light (thus that “beach” tan look) but proper contour product is actually formulated with grey undertones bc contour catches light and defuses it to create a shadow… Hope that helps 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Denise

Wow thank you. I never knew anything like that. Maybe that will stop my foundations from looking so flat all the time.

Miz liz

Thank you. I’ve gotta go try MUFE HD liquid foundation again. It looked great on me in my mid 30s but in my mid 40s I worry it’s too drying now. But that stuff was beautiful. I can’t wait to try DB primer. I don’t use physical scrubs/ exfoliaters because my skin hates them but this primer looks interesting.

Rie

Great items, but I’m overflowing with products to the point of having a reality show, so I’m cancelling. I had a great many months subbing, so now a waitlister can have a go at it. You’re welcome. It’s awesome! 😉👍

Reply ButtonReply

Maggie

I cancelled for the same reasons. I have so many products and only one face. Hopefully someone who is currently on the waitlist will be given my spot soon!

Reply ButtonReply

Angelica

Same here, just cancelled because I have to at least make a dent in my stash. I loved it the six months I had it, hope someone gets my spot right away.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashmad

My guess on the brand for the face palette is Real Her. Boxycharm keeps pushing Real Her and the quality on that brand just isn’t on par with other brands normally in the box.

Reply ButtonReply

Cici von Rite

So many nude colors in the last couple of months. I would have hoped they would have changed it up. I can make smoky eye looks for days

Reply ButtonReply

Tanya

Thank you for confirming this Liz! I was afraid to get excited but am giving in to happy dance !! I still LOVE the kitten palette but am finding the ear not as lasting as the first palette. It’s so tiny I can carry and touch up. I different setting spray than cover fx… no bueno!!! Maybe it was old and I am sold on this sub and the quakr

Reply ButtonReply

Perezangela801

This is gonna be my second boxycharm so I am so stoked!! I have been wanting to use this primer for so long!! It’s already looking amazing and I can’t wait 😍♥️😱

Reply ButtonReply

AzGirl

I bought a crown palette at a makeup convention (they had a booth) and it was the WORST qualit makeup I have ever seen. I tried to take it back to them the next day and they refused to talk to me or exchange it. I love their brushes and expected the shadows to be good too. No. And neither was the customer service. I am REEEEAAALLY hoping that the formulas in this palette are 100% different!!

Reply ButtonReply

findley

i know we just got a tarte product but all the tarte face palettes look so great so i’m crossing my fingers for that rather than a bellepeire or something along those lines!
ill be happy with anything! just certain preferences

Reply ButtonReply

_uff_da

I’m guessing it’s going to be a Tarte palette as well. I think the contour palette most likely.

Reply ButtonReply

Miz liz

But they just had their full size mascara in December’s box and then the Rainforest of the SeaII palette a few months before.

Rachelle

Yes please – the Tarte palette!!

Reply ButtonReply

findley

i know the clay play palette has been on sale and so has the tartist contour palettes so maybe

Reply ButtonReply

Katy

Can’t wait, can’t wait. January is my birthday month so happy birthday to me.
