Collections by Joya December 2017 Review
The card included in this month's box offers a little "thank you" from Collections by Joya. It informs us that proceeds from this month's purchase go to a women's charity. Knowing the items in my box represent an act of altruism makes me love and appreciate them that much more!
I received two pieces of jewelry in this month's box, and they came neatly packaged in this festive green box. If you're familiar with this subscription box or have read my previous reviews of it, you know that each month's shipment of goodies arrives with simple, thoughtful gift packaging in case you wish to pass any of your jewelry along. Even if I don't end up using it for Christmas gifts this year, I will absolutely keep it on hand to use for a birthday or other occasion down the road.
Lark Earrings — Retail Value $68.95 (Found here for $48.95)
The first gorgeous piece of jewelry I pulled out of my little green gift box was this set of vibrant magenta druzy earrings. My eye was immediately drawn to their color, which is so tastefully balanced by the delicate nature of this pair. I don't see this color available on the Joya site, so I feel lucky to have received what I presume to be one of the last available pairs in this hue! They're made with brass settings with a 24k gold overlay and dangle to one inch. I'm not normally one to wear traditionally feminine colors, but these earrings are so eye-catching without being over-the-top that I will have to make an exception for this pair.
Tribal Alphabet Necklace, Letter L — Retail Value $48.95
Also arriving in the green box, and also packaged in a plastic sleeve for protection, is this brass geometric pendant necklace. It has a fine, 16" chain with a 2" extender, which is very welcome because most of the necklaces on my jewelry stand these days are longer. I wouldn't have known before referencing the Joya site that this is meant to be a "tribal" letter L, but it's a cool take on an initial necklace. This is a simple, yet unique piece that I can't wait to wear for everyday!
Here are some photos of both the druzy earrings and the L necklace in action. The earrings were hard to photograph because they constantly wanted to swing, but I love the way they look with the color of my blouse (what the heck color even is my blouse? Haha!).
Pippa Tassel Scarf — Retail Value $68.95
The moment I got my hands on this scarf, I was completely taken aback (in a good way) by how soft it felt! It's a silk-wool blend, and it's truly luscious. I can see it making a wonderful year-round accessory, because, even though the woven material is light and airy, it's plentiful, so it has a fullness to it when draped around your neck. The color is very graceful—a very pale pink that I'd describe as "rosewater"—with ivory tassels outlining the entire rectangular border. Again, not a color I'm always drawn to, but in this case it's a subtle enough shade that it comes off as a nice, neutral tone. This piece is truly beautiful!
Red Lettered Goods Assorted Gift Tags, Set of 5 — Buy a set of 10 for $10
The last item I received this month is a small package of gift tags. They're so classy, and I absolutely love the look of the red-and-white baker's string provided to attach these tags to their respective gifts. I've already put this set to use, and they look really nice. My only feedback is that the finish is a bit glossy, so the gold gel pen I used to write on the darker colored tags needed a few minutes to dry before attaching them to their gifts.
Verdict: I love that the items included in this month's Collections by Joya box expanded my horizons as far as colors I'm not used to wearing! I likely wouldn't have taken a chance on the bold pink hue of the druzy earrings, nor the soft pink tone of the scarf, but having been surprised with them, I'm really excited to explore new color combinations with some of my favorite garments. I'm also delighted with the inclusion of the gift tags; they're a festive touch that acknowledges the holiday in a useful way. As always, this Joya box is an incredible value. It costs $49.95. which includes shipping, and the contents add up to approximately $191.85 (estimating the gift tags' value is $5.00).
