How to be a Redhead (H2BAR) is a monthly subscription box that was started by two redheaded sisters, Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti. Their goal was to empower all redheads to feel confident in their looks by providing products at are “Redhead Friendly.” This means all items are free of heavy chemicals and complement red hair.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

How To Be A Redhead December 2017 Review
Included is a cute little holiday greeting card that has details on the products on the back and retail values.
This little card is incredibly helpful since there are some brands I am not familiar with that were included in December’s box.
How To Be A Redhead included coupons for two of the items they included in December’s box, Udderly Smooth and Pai-Shau.
They also included a $20 off coupon for satin pillowcases from Savvy Sleepers!
H2BAR included a sheet on how to give a manicure with the items included in the box as well. How… handy! (PUNZILLA IS BACK.)
H2BAR also included a free sample for Agadir Aragan oil hair treatment. I have used this before when combing out my massive hair hopper back combs I occasionally do. A hairdresser friend told me not to use coconut oil because it is a food product and leaves a ton of residue on your hair, so Aragan it is!
Montagne Jeunesse 7th Heaven Charcoal Masque, 0.5oz - Listed Value $2
I am a fiend for anything that includes charcoal for skin products. My go-to face wash used to be Lush’s Dark Angel and Origin’s Charcoal mask. My combination skin can get incredibly oily sometimes and charcoal always helps to detox the impurities that make it greasy. This mask is phenomenal and surprisingly affordable! I love how it makes my skin tingle and has bits of walnut that help exfoliate the skin when you rinse this off.
PCA Skin Dual-Action Redness Relief, 0.25oz - Listed Value $5
I was expecting this to be more of a lotion in terms of texture, but it was like a creamy gel. Almost like a thicker Studio Fix by Smash box primer in terms of consistency. I have used this product twice so far and like how it feels on my skin and calms it, but I won’t see any extreme results for weeks according to the sample’s packaging.
Dadi’ Oil Naiol, 0.5 fl oz - Listed Value $12 (found here for $9.99)
This oil is incredibly moisturizing and features organic avocado, extra virgin olive, and jojoba oils. The nail oil has a great citrus smell. I typically get my nails done at a salon, but that is not to say I can’t use this as a cuticle oil.
Pai-Shau Biphasic Infusion Rejuvenating Concentrate for Hair, 0.33 fl oz - Listed Value $10
This is tied with the charcoal mask as one of my favorite things in this box. This daily treatment strengthens, nourishes, and protects red hair. I may be a bottle ginger, but I definitely enjoyed this product. My hair was incredibly shiny and smooth after blow drying, but not oily. It looked as though I had flat ironed my hair after using this product. I am immensely impressed with this treatment!
Original Sprout Hair and Body Baby Wash, 1.25 fl oz - Listed Value $3
This hair and body wash is designed for a baby’s delicate skin, so it will be as tender on an adult’s skin and hair. I was sold when I read their ingredients included cucumber and aloe!
Sol de Janerio Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, 0.8 fl oz - Listed Value $10
This rich lotion smells so heavenly, it has a roasted nut meets graham cracker scent. Not only am I in love with the smell, but this lotion is incredibly moisturizing without leaving a greasy film. This lotion is said to help tighten and smooth skin as well.
Jessicurl Spiralicious Styling Gel, 2 fl oz - Listed Value $7
This gel is designed for curly hair to provide hold and frizz control. I have incredibly straight hair and intend on giving this to one of my photographers (my cousin) that has naturally curly locks. How To Be A Redhead is offering a 30% off discount code also!
Udderly Smooth Hand Cream, 2oz - Listed Value $3
I am very familiar with Udderly Smooth hand cream. My friends and I would make videos of ourselves and did a faux commercial for this hand cream when we were in middle school. I always appreciated Udderly Smooth alone for their punny name, but the lotion is actually pretty decent especially for the cost. It is rather accessible, so the plus is that if you like this cream you can buy it at most retailers. Negative also is that it is so accessible, especially if you are looking for newer unheard of brands in a subscription box to try.
Lone Bold Deodorant Unscented, 2oz - Retail Value $9.65, Listed Value $10
Wow! Check out this fancy packaging! Till now I have never had deodorant presented to me in such a way. I was excited to try Lone’s deodorant because it is free of aluminum. I need a hardcore deodorant, so I am always skeptical. I once tried the crystal rock deodorant and that did nothing for me. This was far more favorable. I would suggest this brand if you are trying to find a natural deodorant. I also liked that this box included a full size of this deodorant to try out.
Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Soft Waves Sea Salt Spray, 2 fl oz - Listed Value $4.75
I love this brand! I use their dry shampoo (especially the vanilla tapioca scent) and their texture powder for when I tease my hair to the Goddesses! I actually own a full size of this product too. If you want to look like you just spent the day at the beach, this product delivers!
Pencil Me In Cosmetics Eye Pencil in Brownie, .04oz - Retail Value $6.99
I typically use liquid liner since pencils for me don’t deliver the bold look I like about liquids. Plus the application is far easier for me. I do appreciate that this pencil liner is all natural and that it has a sharpener in the lid. That is what I hate about pencil liners too. The constant need to re-sharpen! However, the liner is rather creamy and pigmented and goes on smoothly. I am not one for brown eyeliner, but Bette Davis swore by brown mascara and eyeliner so I feel it is worth trying again. Anything to get those Bette Davis eyes!
Pretty Woman Red Lips and Wine Sips Nail Polish, .3fl oz - Retail Value $7.99
Nothing is more classic than red lipstick and nails, am I right? Sure, I have a plethora of red nail polishes, but I am always willing to sample another. I typically get my nails professionally done, so I painted my toenails to test this out on. I didn’t put a base or a top coat on, but this polish only needed one coat. There was no transparency. Only negative was both of my big toes chipped within twenty-four hours of painting. This could be user error due to me not using a base or top coat.
Freedom Calming Cleanser, .5oz - Listed Value $4
My skin during the winter months is a bit of a mess. I usually only use Lush cleansers on my face, but used this and was rather impressed. The effect was soothing and my skin seemed clearer. I appreciate too that this product is free of parabens and animal cruelty.
Verdict: I am enjoying How To Be A Redhead! Most of the brands featured were new to me, so I was excited to try out so many products. My favorite items were the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, the 7th Heaven face mask (which I just recently found at Five Below for $1.99! Yes!), and the Pai-Shau Biphasic Infusion Rejuvenating Concentrate for Hair. The listed and retail values total up to $85.38. This box is $18.98 a month so that is nearly $70 in savings! With the savings and also free shipping, you really can’t go wrong with H2BAR! I would recommend this to my redhead and non–redhead friends alike.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this box is currently sold out. When the box becomes available, order by 18th of each month and your box will ship on the 1st of the following month.
Value Breakdown: This box cost me $18.98 including free shipping, which means that each of the 13 items in the box has an average cost of $1.46.
