Home for the Holidays, A Hand-Crafted Coloring Book - Retail Value $8.95

I couldn't find the same edition of this silver metallic coloring book online, but luckily, the retail value was listed on the back by the barcode! Coloring is a nice way to wind down during the busy holiday season. I like that the patterns in this book are sophisticated holiday patterns, rather than just obvious characters like Santa or snowmen. If you don't feel like coloring, you could still put these pages to work in scrapbooks or even use them as wrapping paper for small stocking stuffers.

Pocket Knife with Flint

Wow! This is the most adventurous thing I've seen in one of these boxes, for sure! There's no branding on it to identify a price, unfortunately. I'm no outdoorswoman, but I have been wanting to get more into hiking and camping in the upcoming year. If I do end up out in the wilderness, this sharp, foldable knife will probably come in lots of handy. There's even a little bit of flint with an orange handle that you can use to spark a fire with some dry kindling. Here's my first try...

Not bad!

Flashing Christmas Lights Necklace

There are a lot of products like this online, so I'm hesitant to give it an official value, but I'd bet it's worth around $5.00 if that. It's not the highest quality necklace (the bulbs are made from really lightweight plastic), but it is a lot of fun. The little connector in the back has a button that turns it on or off, plus there are three settings you can page through, too—rapid blinking (which felt more like creepy Halloween strobe lights), fast blinking (slightly slower than the last one), and slower, alternating lights (my favorite setting, where alternating lights fade on and off). It's fun to wear, or to use as decoration for a smaller, tabletop Christmas tree!

The Verdict: This box was perfect for the holiday season, that's for sure. I could see it being a little underwhelming if you don't celebrate Christmas, though many of the coloring pages speak to a broader "winter" theme that's a little more crowd-pleasing. My family does do Christmas, so I found the box fun and festive. And hey, if you have a real tree, that knife could come in handy for trimming wily branches! Or breaking through the thick packing tape on holiday packages arriving in the mail!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You can always sign up, but what you'll get in your box is totally random!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $9.99. I couldn't find reliable prices for a few of the items in the box, but I can say that I got at least $8.95 in value out of that book alone. That's almost the cost of the whole subscription! If you break it down by item, the average value of each of the three surprises, based on the $9.99 price of the box, is $3.33.

This box was great! I’m really tempted to subscribe, not because I need more junk in my house but it always looks like fun to open the bag & see what you got.

Thks for the review!

I have found the same exact knife on eBay for $9.99 which is the cost of the box so I think it’s a good deal! I wish I would have gotten this box.

I got this box, but with just the coloring book and lights. No knife. I would have loved it if it would have been included. Really disappointed .

Hi Anna – you’re right on the value of the lights necklace. We bought it at Publix for $5, as a gift to a bartender we know. She likes wearing stuff with flashing lights LOL. Her regular customers got a big kick out of it.

Oh cool! Thanks for confirming, Dea! I feel like I might have to wear mine as a customer at the bar to make sure the bartender notices me right away… hehe 🙂

The coloring book is on Amazon. Search 1944953027.

I know this because it also came in Pet Treater this month. They must’ve gotten a deal on a large number of them (it is the 2016 edition, I guess there was a new one for this year).

That’s an awesome pocket knife! I’ve been needing a new one and I love that it has the flint!

I got the same exact items in my mini box and I have to say it made me smile when I opened it because I needed a knife and I’ve Never owned a necklace like that and I was so excited to finally have one of my own I wore them all through Christmas and got so many compliments on them, I actually thought they were pretty durable because I went to multiple parties and not a problem the batteries didn’t even die and I left them on overnight by accident. I’m So glad I finally took the plunge and got this sub of the mini box because it’s always so much fun, wish I could afford to splurge on the big box!

Good to know that the necklace is a winner! Thanks for sharing, Missy! I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying the subscription, too. I think the mini box tends to have some awesome things inside, plus I’ve noticed that there’s some overlap between the two – you might get some of the same goodies as you would in that more expensive one!!!

Thank you for reading, Missy 🙂

I’m pretty sure those are the exact same lights I saw at Dollar Tree… The value of this box is disappointing.

These are not at the dollar store. I looked. Cheapest place I found was $10 at a family dollar.

Denise

This necklace was at my dollar tree too. I bought a few for the family.
