Here's the info card for this month's box. Hooray for the holidays!

minty candle with snowflake patterned votive minty candle with snowflake patterned votive minty candle with snowflake patterned votive minty candle with snowflake patterned votive

rareEssence Vanilla Peppermint Holiday Candle, 5.9 oz - Retail Value $17.00

Between the sweet, minty scent and the silver snowflake print on the lidded votive, this candle is super festive! I appreciate that the fragrance comes from 100% pure essential oils, too. (My sinuses are already battling the dry winter air—they don't need chemical-based fragrances pestering them even more!) The fact that there's a lid on this votive makes the candle easy to store until next year, in the off chance I don't burn it all the way down by the end of this holiday season.

balsam scented room fragrance balsam scented room fragrance

SunLeaf Bayberry Balsam Room Spray, 2.5 fl oz - Retail Value $9.99

At first, I didn't think I liked this fragrance. Most tree-inspired aromas this time of year have a sweetness or minty freshness to them, while this one is very "natural," if you will. But once I got over what I had expected this to smell like and embraced the aroma at hand, I really started to like it.

Essentially, it's like someone bottled the experience of wandering the narrow aisles of a Christmas tree sale. There's an almost bitter note to the scent that reminds me of cold tree bark and fresh branches. It's not the pretty, fun, spicy-sweet kind of smell you imagine around the holidays, but it's amazing if simply from a sense-memory perspective!

lavender seeds lavender seeds lavender seeds

Lavessence Culinary Lavender, 1 oz - Retail Value $4.25

I've gotten all sorts of lavender goodies in subscription boxes before, but never lavender to eat! The info card suggests that this culinary-grade lavender could go into cookies or even a martini! I've not cooked with these pretty little seeds before, so I'll have to do some exploring. My first thought is to try to steep it in simple syrup to add to coffee or tea.

essential oil diffuser box, sticks, and vial of oils essential oil diffuser box, sticks, and vial of oils essential oil diffuser

rareEssence Clarity Spa Diffuser, 1 oz - Retail Value $18.00

Mmmm. This diffuser brings a beautiful, fresh scent to my room. I thought the scent was some kind of lemony herb blend, but according to the package, it's actually eucalyptus and sage. Sometimes diffuser scents can be really heavy and overpowering, but I found this one to be light and refreshing. It didn't strike me as very holiday-specific, but boy is it peaceful.

orange spice soap bar in package orange spice soap bar and box orange spice soap bar

Live Pure Cinnamon Orange Soap Bar, 3 oz - Retail Value $5.00

Now, this is a holiday scent. I love this sweet and slightly spicy aroma—it's almost like pie coming out of the oven! For having citrus in it, the scent is more sweet than sharp. The soap itself is paraben-free, palm-oil-free, and made with an assortment of natural oils (like coconut and olive oil), so it's smooth and rich.

The Verdict: I love this collection of natural fragrances! When I think of holiday fragrances, my mind goes to that super artificial, overly sweet explosion of cinnamon spice that you smell at gift shops and candle stores this time of year. This box offered something a little different. I liked how gentle all of the scents were—they were smooth and relatively light, rather than sharp, overwhelming, or chemical-ish. My favorite parts were how the scents covered a wide range of "holiday" fragrances (mint, spice, citrus, herbs, evergreens) and how the products came from an assortment of large and smaller, indie brands.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes. If you sign up in November, your first box will be the November box.

  • Culinary lavender - $3.91
  • Diffuser - $16.56
  • Soap - $4.60
