Tutu Royal November 2017 Review
The information card told the theme this month: Polka Dot Princess. It explained the STEM princess characteristic of the month: Humility. It also listed each item in the box and had a brief piece of literature about engineers and a mention of Debbie Sterling, a mechanical engineer who is the founder and CEO of GoldieBlox.
Characteristic Card
This month’s characteristic card is about being humble. This card encourages your princess to reflect on when they showed humility.
Multi-Color Princess Dress - Retail Value $25.00?
The dress this month had a plain black cotton top which felt like a t-shirt. The dress came covered in some white fuzz which you may see in the photo. It didn’t feel as well made as the dresses we’ve received the last few months. The bottom half of the dress was a thick black satin type material with brightly colored polka dots. There was a zipper at the neckline to make the dress easier to get on and off.
Belt - Retail Value $1.00?
This belt was a strange addition to the box. It felt cheap and didn’t match the style of the dress at all. The dress doesn’t have belt loops and my daughter refused to wear it with the dress (I can’t say I blame her) so I apologize for not modeling it.
Here is my daughter loving her polka dot dress.
Energy Makes Things Happen (Let’s Read and Find Out Science 2) By Kimberly Bradley - Retail Value $5.99
Each month Tutu Royal sends a nonfiction book that matches the theme of the box. Since the literature on the information card was about engineers they choose a book about energy this month. My four-year-old daughter wasn’t interested in this book (yet) because it’s pretty factual and geared for older kids. However, I found it interesting and well-written. We will hang onto it for when she’s older.
Kookies by Keirsten Tiara Cookie – Retail Value $4.00?
This frosted cookie was delicious as always! Tutu Royal had it double packaged in a sealed bag and bubble wrap to protect it in transit. We love that Tutu Royal sends a yummy cookie each month.
Verdict: My daughter enjoys the Tutu Royal box and I was happy to see how much was included for the $30 (plus shipping) price point. I am estimating the value of the box to be around $36 which is a little lower than usual. I like the idea that this box is mixing princess dress-up fun with an emphasis on education and careers in STEM. I also love that with each subscription purchased Tutu Royal donates a subscription to an adoption agency.
