This month's theme is "Peace and Seva." The info card explains that the Sanskrit word Seva translates to "selfless service," or "giving without the expectation of receiving," which is what us yogis should focus on in this season of gifting and gathering with loved ones. It informs that the gifts in this box are presents to help encourage a self-care practice so that you feel rejuvenated and open-hearted going into the holiday season.
Each month there is a Yogi Surprise Sequence included. This month's sequence features all sorts of backbends and heart-opening poses, and strung together, they'll really heat the body up!
There's also a card advertising a yoga retreat giveaway. This month's retreat is a yoga and meditation retreat in Cambodia. And, finally...SPOILER ALERT:
...a peek at what's to come in January's box!
Sekoia The Energizer Essential Oil Blend, 1 oz - Retail Value $39
Let's start our box with the spoiler from this month, this "Energizer" essential oil blend from Sekoia. This awakening oil features a mix of spearmint, may chang, orange, lemon, lavender, and petitgrain mixed with fractionated coconut oil. It truly does have an energizing scent with heavy citrus tones and a hint of sweetness! I imagine that rubbing this oil on your temples or wrists would really enhance a morning yoga practice.
Yogi Surprise included an info card for Sekoia, the inside of which offers a mindful oil application ritual, as well as a discount code for 10% off your next purchase with Sekoia.
RareESSENCE Peace Candle Travel Tin - Retail Value $12
Wow, I don't know that I've ever smelled a candle this wonderfully earthy. It's a blend of frankincense, myrrh, and palo santo, and it's like a sweet-and-musky incense in candle form. Just lovely. According to the RareESSENCE website, "We use pure, GMO-free soy and bees waxes from farms in the USA and all cotton wicks in these handmade candles." The wax is undyed, and the burn time is approximately 20 hours. Man, do I look forward to those 20 hours of my life!
Matr Boomie Celedon Cone Bell — Retail Value $14, Listed Value $15 (On sale for $12.60)
When I first saw this bell in its plastic bag, I thought it was a piece of jewelry. I'm so pleased to find that it's a beautiful, peaceful decor item—able to be used either indoors or outdoors. According to the Matr Boomie website, the bell part of this decoration is "crafted from recycled iron sheets, covered in copper alloys." It has a deep, chime-like ring to it and dark wood beads contrasting its pale blue rope. This will look beautiful near the Moroccan rug I have in my guest room!
This piece of newspaper is what the bell came wrapped in. It's always cool to see newspapers in other languages!
Coconut Karma Portable Coconut Oil, 2.76 oz - Listed Value $5 (Buy a pack of 3 for $15.99)
My first thought upon seeing this coconut oil was, "Applesauce?" That would have been totally fine and welcome, but the fact that it's coconut oil is so unique and such a treat! I had no idea such a thing existed, and now my mind is running wild with all the places it'd be great to bring. My top uses for coconut oil are for cooking and skin hydration, and this would be perfect for both since it's squirt-out style instead of dipping fingers or a utensil spoon into a jar. I might have to save this and bring it backpacking when the weather warms up again because bringing butter or oil is always tricky.
Sugar Detox Book - Retail Value $19.99, Listed Value $13.00 (found here for $13.50)
I'm really feeling like we Yogi Surprise subscribers have hit the jackpot with the inclusion of this book this month! It can be really overwhelming searching the internet for info about sugar (hello, conflicting research!) and even more overwhelming to figure out how to cut down on sugar or cut it out of your diet altogether. This text lays it all out and somehow manages to do so in a concise enough way that keeps the book small and easy to pop into a purse or store with your cookbooks. It's chock full of high-quality photographs and gives a 3-week plan, complete with recipes, craving-curbing ingredients, and mindfulness exercises to help you cut sugar out of your diet when you're ready.
Badger Sleep Balm, 0.75 oz - Retail Value $5.99
I've only recently heard of Badger this past summer as I was researching the safest, healthiest sunscreens to use. Turns out they've been around since 1995, and they've really got their product line down. The best part about products made with all-natural ingredients is that you can use them pretty much wherever they're needed! Such is the case with this balm: you can use it to soothe dry lips or cracked hands, rub it on your temples, neck, or chest...whatever feels right. According to the Badger website, "This dreamy, night balm will not make you sleepy (it’s not a drug); rather it’s a calming, soothing blend of essential oils to help ease you into a relaxed state of mind so sleep can come naturally." Love it!
The Verdict: I always love what I find in my Yogi Surprise boxes, but this month, they seemed to step it up a notch for the holidays. All 6 products were high quality and thoughtful, with no seemingly random snacks nor bracelets thrown in, which I very much appreciated. Each and every one of these items would also make a great stocking-stuffer gift if you were looking for a few more items to pass along to loved ones.

- Yogi Bell - $6.56
- Coconut Oil - $2.34
- Book - $9.36
