November 2017 World Sampler Review

It's been awhile since I've reviewed this subscription, but this box looks a lot bigger than I remember for the World Sampler box!

November's Intro Card Reverse of intro card

The November box includes items from Italy, France, Japan, and more– and includes a special holiday item to get us into the holiday spirit! Nice!

Inside of intro card with all items and descriptions

Yummy Bazaar always includes brief descriptions of each item in the box, which is especially helpful when the labels aren't in English. (When ingredients aren't in English, you can find those translations here, too).

You'll next see a card with a secret coupon code (we blanked ours out) to receive 10% off your next order. These items are all specially selected as the best holiday specialty foods from around the globe! I don't know about you, but these Chocolate Pistachio Marzipan Christmas Trees sound amazing.

Maina Mini Panettone Box

Mini Italian Panettone Cake by Maina (Italy) – Retail Value $3.95

This is why we got such a big box this month! This panettone is a super festive way to kick off the holidays for sure.

Mini Panettone Unboxed Mini Panettone Sliced

If you've never had a panettone before, it's an Italian specialty that is a bit like a sweet challah loaf filled with raisins. (There were a lot more raisins in here than our sliced photo would make you think!)

They make delicious holiday french toast, too. This little guy is two servings if you feel like sharing.

Instant Fried Rice by Mama

Instant Fried Rice by Mama (Thailand) – Retail Value $3.95

I'm a big fan that Yummy Bazaar includes a pantry-type item every month, and not all sweets and snacks! I've been known to raid an Umai Crate for leftovers every now and then, so I was pretty happy to see this Thai Red Curry Shrimp Fried Rice packet.

Instant Fried Rice by Mama, Ingredients and Nutritional Facts

This instant packet is one serving and even comes with a little spoon inside. It does contain MSG (which some people apparently say is safe, but others still prefer to avoid). I'm in the "everything in moderation" camp and I love red curry so I'm looking forward to breaking this out next time I forget my lunch and need a spicy pick-me-up.

Worth noting: this has a best by date of 6 months from now, so plenty of time to use it!

Caramel Duo Lollipops by Pierrot Gourmand

Caramel Duo Lollipops (France) – Available here in a full-size pack of 10 for $6.70

These flat French lollipops have a unique shape and were invented in 1924!

I received what I think was the "salted butter caramel" flavor, and it was delicious. Other possibilities include caramel coconut, caramel banana, caramel chocolate, and caramel coffee. Loved this fun vintage-y treat!

Original Rice Crackers by Kameda from Japan

Original Rice Crackers by Kameda – Buy a full-size bag here for $3.45

I was really confused about the "Soft Salad" label on this cracker because nothing about this snack says "soft" or "salad" to me.

This crunchy, air-light rice cracker was super salty and delicious, though. It has a very very slight seaweed taste and would be delicious on some soup or a salad.

Baiocchi Cookies by Mulino Bianco

Baiocchi Cookies by Mulino Bianco (Italy) – Listed Value $0.60, Available here in a pack of 6 packs of 3 cookies each for $4.95

This was hands down my favorite item this month. I love chocolate hazelnut, and this trio of tiny bite-sized sandwich cookies was perfection!

Hazelnut cookie

I wanted to save them for coffee, but they didn't make it past the afternoon. The info card also says that this brand of cookies is found in over 75% of Italian homes – and that Italians eat more cookies per year than the entire U.S.! I'm thinking that is per capita, or that all of the Italian cookies are just super tiny because that is a crazy amount of cookies!

Sample of Spicy Fried Fish & Peanut Snack

Spicy Fried Fish & Peanut Snack by Triko (Taiwan) – Buy here in full-sized 2.8 oz bag for $5.85

This is the kind of snack that I just cannot get into, but I always try. I've grown to enjoy seaweed, but dried fish just doesn't do it for me.

Spicy Fried Fish & Peanut Snack

As you can see, this snack is very very fishy! I'm glad the packet was so tiny, so I don't feel like it's going to waste. And it was fun to try a little sample of something different.

Verdict

This Yummy Bazaar World Sampler Box was great! Even though I could have done without the peanut fish snack, I got to try some unique foods and am looking forward to sharing Panettone French Toast with my son this weekend. I got six total items for $9.95, three of which were generously full-sized, and as always enjoyed giving my tastebuds a little trip around the world.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. If you subscribe today, you'll receive the December box which ships between the 15-18th.

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $9.95, which means that each of the 6 items in the box has an average cost of $1.66.

Thanks for the tip about using the panettone for French Toast – I think that’s what I’ll be doing with mine!

In the dried fish item, were the things that look like worms the fish? That was gross looking–don’t blame you for not eating. Everything else looks good.
