Bookroo sends the books individually wrapped each month. It’s a special touch and my children enjoy unwrapping the books each month like a special gift.

Bookroo December 2017 Booklet

Bookroo includes an information card in their boxes with a summary of each book.

And Away We Go by Migy book cover

And Away We Go by Migy book inside

And Away We Go by Migy – Retail Value $17.99 (found here for $9.98)

Mr. Fox is headed to the moon in his new hot air balloon. Along the way, many animal friends ask to join him and he always answers yes. But when along comes a tiny bird who lands on the edge of the balloon’s basket, well it’s the proverbial straw that breaks the back and they all come tumbling back down to land. Good-natured Fox isn’t sad watching his balloon drift towards the moon without him. He’d rather be with all his friends on land anyway. I love the message of this book: that when a friend asks to join the answer should always be yes.

The Wish Tree by Kyo Maclear book cover

The Wish Tree by Kyo Maclear book inside

The Wish Tree by Kyo Maclear – Retail Value $16.99 (found here for $11.15)

The Wish Tree is about a boy taking a journey along with his toboggan (aptly named Boggan) to find a wish tree. Along the way, he encounters many animals in the forest that need his help. He stops to help each one and finally as he grows tired it is their turn to help him. This is a sweet, quiet story about having faith and helping others. It has beautiful artwork as well.

Verdict: The retail value of Bookroo this month was $34.98 (less with sale prices) which is quite a bit higher than the $22.99 cost of the box ($17.99 a month + $5 US shipping). We enjoyed both selections this month and so it was a great box for our family!
