Fair Trade Friday Earring of the Month Club December 2017 Review

These little cards were included in my box. They contain information about Fair Trade Friday and about Mercy House Kenya, Fair Trade Friday's parent organization.

Brass Earrings

These simple brass earrings are just perfect! They have a nice, rich color but are very lightweight. I love the simple, elegant design! They're like hoops with a twist!

The Verdict: I love my subscription to Fair Trade Friday Earring OTM Club. This month's earrings are so pretty! I can't always find the earrings for sale online, but I always feel like they are worth more than the $13 cost of the subscription. I also really like the charitable giving aspect of this subscription.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the January box. Order by the 15th of each month to get that month's box.

Totally news to me that women in Azerbaijan are practicing Christianity.

Svetlana7e: People all around the world practice Christianity, no matter the location. I spent some time in Hong Kong and was a bit surprised by the number of people who observed the faith. At times, I felt I was the one who was the odd man out as I am not actively observant in any religion.

The world is large and the views equally so…

I like the earrings, I like the price, I like the fair trade premise. And I don’t find the religious aspect offensive at all. It’s a winner. 🙂

I find the religious aspect of this box quite offensive.

I feel you. I don’t necessarily find the religious aspect offensive nor do I hate religions but I tend to prefer non religious organizations. I went to Fair Trade Friday’s site and couldn’t find anything about Hope House so I wouldn’t support that charity just because I believe in knowing more about a group before giving them money. I did see that Fair Trad Firday is a religious organization run by Mercy House Global so with this sub I’d expect to see many religious items. So, it’s not for me.

i totally get what you mean–aren’t these women culturally muslim? maybe i’m wrong…but, does the charity demand a christian commitment, or do they help the women, anyway?

and, frankly, the reason these women are oppressed is the backward teachings of ALL religions–religion is a man-made institution–focus heavily on the MAN-made part–designed to “other-ize” those that are different, but, mostly, to keep women in their place…christianity, judaism, & islam are brothers from another mother…

If you wanted to categorize me, I guess you’d call me agnostic. I sub to their bracelet of the month club and routinely buy items from the online shop. They have never sent me anything blatantly religious or tried to “shove their beliefs down my throat.” Not sure what you find offensive about trying to empower artisans in need and spread charity. I sure hope that was a joke because if not you are certainly no better than the most judgmental super religious, preachy person out there (whom these certainly are not).

we don’t know how offensive these christian do-gooders are to the muslim women they are trying to “convert”, now, do we?
and, we also don’t know if the group refuses to help a woman who resists these teachings about christ…

Kate

yes, wow. so much for freedom of religion. Nobody is making you subscribe to this box.
