Freedom Japanese Market November 2017 Review
All snacks included are sent directly from Japan and all the labels are in Japanese. Freedom Japanese Market sends a list of the contents that are in the box, along with a brief description in English which really helps while navigating through each snack.
Plus, you also receive an origami of the month! November features this adorable bunny, I love the paper it is made with.
Curry Arare - Buy a similar product for $1.35
This snack was really fun and I love the cool shapes. The little bites are rice crackers so they pack a big crunch, great for snacking! The bag is flavored with a curry powder that has a lovely flavor to it, nothing too spice just really great hints of what makes curry so delicious. I love a crunchy snack so this bag was very hard to put down!
Shittori Ichigo - Retail Value $6.27 USD
I have had a similar version of this snack before and boy do I love it! Each cookie is so light and airy. They have a slight crunch at first, but then they just melt in your mouth. This flavor is made with strawberry and chocolate, so sweet. The chocolate tastes more like white chocolate to me and is so creamy and smooth, like butter! This was a snack and I didn't want to share.
Bubblish Ramune Candy - Retail Value $1.98
I have had these little candies before and they are so fun! It was a great surprise to receive them again. Basically, when you put a handful of these candies in your mouth, they fizz like a soda! It tastes like soda and you get that cool bubble effect, just from the candies. My husband thinks it is very funny to try to see how many he can put in his mouth to see how much fizz happens. A great candy for kids and adults!
Umaibo - Buy a pack of 50 for $11.98
The Christmas themed Umaibo is a corn soup flavor. So yummy! You really get a savory flavor from this one, just like a fresh corn soup. The sweet corn provides a delightful sweetness mixed with an almost chicken broth flavor for that lovely saltiness. Plus, you can't beat that festive packaging!
Sanrio Gum - Buy a box of 60 for $23.90
These little packets of gum come in a decorative wrapper. I was excited to see Super Mario this time! Each piece of gum is super soft and really yummy to chew. They each had a bold orange flavor that I loved. So refreshing!
Chocolate Umaibo - Buy a box of 30 for $14.99
Umaibo covered in chocolate? Count me in! This umaibo is pretty standard with a corn puff flavor that has a light sweetness. The best part is the light chocolate coating that makes this so rich and creamy. I love the mixture of chocolate and the crunch from the umaibo!
Wata-Gashi - Buy a similar item in a 3 pack for $6.00
Cotton candy always reminds me of summer and being a kid! I was really excited to take this little puff of cotton candy goodness out of the bag. It was the perfect size, just enough for me to gobble up quickly. The cotton candy was extra fluffy and so very sweet, like any good cotton candy! The bag is so decorative and fun, I was a bit surprised that the cotton candy wasn't a brighter color, but it was still super delicious!
Mugi Chocolate - Estimated Value $1.50
These mini-chocolates come in a festive packet, perfect for the holiday season! These were very similar to the chocolate umaibo. There is a sweet rice puff center with a light chocolate coating on the outside. I loved how easy this was to snack on and how sweet the chocolate was.
Mike Popcorn - Retail Value $3.98
My favorite snack of the month right here! This popcorn is meant to taste like a Caprese salad and I can safely say that it does. When you open the bag, you get hit with a fresh smell of olive oil. The popcorn honestly is like diving into a fresh Caprese pizza. The popcorn itself was perfectly popped and had just the right amount of seasoning for hints of salt and oil. I knew my husband would go crazy over this popcorn, so I was nice enough to share, but boy I wish we had gotten a larger bag to share more of it!
Puchi Potato Chips - Retail Value $2.00
These little chips were incredible! The chips themselves are super thin, like a Pringle. I was surprised how much each bite tasted like peas, it was so fresh. Then, you are hit with this spicy flavor that was almost creamy like a mayo. It was like eating a fresh appetizer in a chip form. I couldn't stop snacking on these bite-sized chips!
Fluffy Softmallow - Estimated Value $2.00
Who doesn't love marshmallows? These swirling marshmallows are fun to look at and even better to eat. I loved the bright colors! Each bite was super sugary and sweet. A very simple treat that really never gets old!
Bonus Item: Puchi Chocolate - Estimated Value $0.48 (value based on a similar product, currently out of stock)
A super fun bonus snack! It seems that the bonus snacks are always a different version of the Puchi Chocolate, which I love. These little candies have a hard outer shell with a rich chocolate center. The little container makes snacking on a bunch on the go super easy!
Verdict: Freedom Japanese Market is a fun way to try new snacks that are great for someone with a big sweet tooth! Lucky for me, I love trying all kinds of candies and chocolates that come my way. I really loved my first box from Freedom Japanese Market, but I thought this month's snacks were a bit underwhelming. Each snack came in a smaller size so there wasn't much room for sharing, and if I did love a snack it was gone in minutes. I would love to see a bit more variety with the curation to get some more unique snacks each month. Overall though, this month did bring some delicious and fun flavors that I enjoyed snacking on.

Value Breakdown: This monthly box costs $24.99 with free shipping. I received a total of twelve snacks for the November box, which averages out to $2.08 per snack. Even with the bonus snack, the average value per item seems a bit high. Each snack is smaller in size so it doesn't allow for much sharing or leftovers. I would love to see one or two larger snack items to bring the overall value up slightly.
