January 2018 Geek Fuel Review

The first box of 2018 features a commemorative pin and lanyard along with a few items from Nintendo and Transformers!

Each delivery arrives with a detailed card that gives you information on each item.

It also comes with a mini magazine - my copy of Mario Odyessy is just waiting for me to finish Cuphead!

It features interviews, short stories, and my favorite section - the gift guide!

It all starts off with this little box. Like most packaging with Geek Fuel, there's more than meets the eye...

Optimus Prime Shirt - Value $15?

Optimus Prime is featured front and center on this month's exclusive shirt. It's simple, bold, and a great centerpiece to the box.

How great is this packaging? Not even knowing what this was, I was very careful to preserve the packaging!

Video Game Notebook - Value $15?

There were 5 possible designs for this item - all are from Nintendo franchises Mario or Zelda.

It's one of the best-constructed notebooks I've received in a subscription box - and we receive A LOT of notebooks.

It has a nice little Triforce piece on the band, too!

It's a blank page design - so you can use it for notes or sketching. It also has a pocket in the back.

It's definitely built super sturdy! The designs are all great options!

2018 Pin and Lanyard Set - Value $10-15?

The pin was different this month to commemorate the new year.

Instead of the typical Geek Bot designs, you'll get a 2018 pin to get you ready for the new year.

You'll also get a Geek Fuel lanyard - officially ready for the Con circuit in 2018.

The Marvelous Miss Take Steam Game - Value $20

This month's Steam game is one of the highest value games I've seen!

It's a heist/stealth game that has super positive reviews since its release in 2014!

Verdict: While I miss the Geek Bot pin this month - it is fun to get a commemorative 2018 pin! Overall, it's not my favorite delivery from Geek Fuel, and while the items were all super high-quality, I also wasn't blown away by anything - which has become abnormal for my unboxing experiences!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! You can always tell which month your subscription will start with on Geek Fuel's homepage banner at the top left of the screen - under their logo!

This was my first box from them and I was looking forward to it based on pictures/reviews I’ve seen. Was extremely excited, but just as I unboxed it, I was really disappointed. The transformer shirt is alright, along with the notebook. The steam game looks like something I’ll never play in my life. And the lanyard along with the pin are a just… something else. Super disappointed from this box, and cancelled my subscription because of it.

Wow what a complete waste of my money
This box (Jan/2018) made me cancel my subscription

Unless you’re a 10yr old who thinks lanyards and notebooks should be something people pay money for, save your money.

Such a disappointment!

And no, the Transformers t-shirt does not make up for the rest of the junk in the box.

That Transformers shirt would have made the whole box worth it for me; i may have to hunt that shirt down. Simple and great design. The packaging for the journal was cool, but it seems like there are a lot of journals being including across various boxed recently. Rest of the box wasnt impressive.

This box felt really light. A T-shirt, notebook and pin. I don’t really count the lanyard because those are given away for free. I don’t collect the pins either but I always think they are cute. One time I had the packaging for the pin but there was no pin inside. Has that ever happened to anyone? I never asked for a replacement but I thought that was weird

This box will not let me quit it, lol, I’ve been subscribed to this box for nearly two years and although I’ve cancelled my subscription I always resubscribe. I’m so excited to get this months. Only box I’ve had this long a commitment to.
