Goddess Provisions Solstice Creative Vision Review January 2017

Here's the info card for this month's "Creative Vision" box. I like that they include both visual and written-out product lists that talk about what makes each item special.

"Raise Your Vibration with Love and Gratitude" Mason Jar Glass - Listed Value $9.00

Made by Goddess Provisions for this box, this standard-size mason jar is just a slight bit bigger than a typical juice glass. I like the ombre blue and pink colors of the lettering. The script itself is a little cutesy, to me, but I like the idea of the message greeting me on my bedside water glass each morning.

Numi Organic Vision Tea, 16 Tea Bags - Retail Value $13.76, Listed value $8.00

I've been trying to drink less coffee in 2018, but I'm allowing myself tea. This tea was a pleasant accompaniment to my office morning—it has somewhat of an... earthy sweetness? And I like the bit of oomph it gets from the ginger and spices. Overall, it's a tasty, bright-feeling tea that I found to be rather uplifting at the start of my day.

Denik Silver Eyes Notebook - Retail Value $9.99, Listed Value $12.00

So, I love getting notebooks in subscription boxes. I'm a habitual note-taker—even if I never look at the note again, the simple act of writing something down helps cement it in my mind. On top of that, I love neutral colors, and I think they look especially awesome when they're highlighted by crisp metallics. In short, this notebook is sooo me! I also really love that Denik, the company behind this 5.25" x 8.25" softcover notebook, supports not only the artists who design their covers (this one was done by Trina Perkins), but initiatives to build schools in underserved communities around the world. Inside the back cover, it says that this notebook benefits schools in Mali, Guatemala, and Laos. Awesome!

The Hippie Homesteader Motivate Serum, 10 ml - Retail Value $10.00

I love the sweetly herbal scent this serum creates when it gets warmed up on my pressure points. The blend of lime, rosemary, pine needle, and peppermint is refreshing but not in a cold-breeze-first-thing-in-the-morning kind of way. Instead, it makes me think of the feeling of waking up without my alarm clock, stretching in fresh sheets, and smelling rainy air outside my window. The sweetness from the lime tempers this otherwise rather fresh, invigorating scent, too. It's grounding and gently energizing.

addictive wellness raw chocolate box addictive wellness raw chocolate back of package addictive wellness raw chocolate cups

Addictive Wellness Raw Chocolate in Focus, 1.7 oz. - Retail Value $7.75, Listed Value $8.00

Basically anything and everything chocolate is A-OK by me! This raw chocolate is made without sugar, gluten, nuts, soy, dairy, GMOs, or trans fats. What it does have, however, is a whole lot of flavor. The consistency is a teensy bit waxier and denser than the milk chocolate I'm used to, but these little paper-wrapped cups of straight chocolate are surprisingly indulgent. I was actually shocked to see that they're sugar-free. I didn't notice any major effects of the focus-boosting adaptogens in these cups, but I will say they didn't make me feel that same rock-in-my-stomach way that I can feel after nibbling on a regular bar.

Pacifica Dark Circle Rehab Palette, 0.22 oz - Retail Value $14.00

Hooray for full-size beauty products! Pacifica's products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, and best of all, they work really beautifully on me. This palette features three tones to counter redness or that dark blue tone that likes to happen under my eyes when I'm short on sleep. I will say, I found that the formula really picked up on any little textures going on with my skin. I don't want to say it had a "gritty" finish because that sounds WAY more severe than it was... but the finish wasn't as smooth as I would've wished. My recommendation? Use your favorite primer before you get started concealing to make sure it the finish is as seamless as possible.

spotted stone black and white spotted stone

Dalmation Jasper - Listed Value $6.00

Looking at this playful polka-dotted stone, it's not surprising that it's said to get you out of your head and into a more carefree mood. I loooove this stone so much—the colors, the patterns, the pocket size. (It's just slightly over an inch long.) I want to fill my house with this lighthearted little crystal!

The Verdict: I'm such a fan of this subscription, and this box was a great example of why. I feel like the box does a good job of nodding to different aspects of a woman's spiritual life without taking itself too seriously. The items encourage meditation and mindfulness, but they also aren't afraid of the playful, more frivolous parts of life, like beauty. And the fact that the box features really intentional brands makes the experience feel authentic—this box isn't just trying to replicate a trend. The only question I had was about the differences between listed values and the prices I found online for these items. I'm guessing, though, that Goddess Provisions is considering shipping costs or the discounts they get via bulk ordering.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes. New subscribers should have until the 20th to get a January box. The February box should be sent out by the first week of the month!

Value Breakdown: The box cost $33.00 with free US shipping, but I estimate that I received $70.50 in value. That means that, proportionally, I spent about the following on each item:

  • Glass - $4.21
  • Tea - $6.44
  • Notebook - $4.68
  • Serum - $4.68
  • Chocolate - $3.63
  • Pacifica palette - $6.55
  • Jasper - $2.81

Mary

I’ve been subscribed to Goddess Provisions since their first box in 2015, and this box was my FAVORITE so far! They really hit it out of the park with this one – especially in the variety of products they sent, and each item really helped bring home the theme this month. Nothing felt like a filler item put in just to bulk up the box. I will use each and every item, and most of them I will use every day until they run out!
