Kawaii Box January 2018 Review
The included (and adorable) card lists all the goodies we have in store for this month. I actually pulled out this card and carefully read it first, instead of digging right into everything, which made unboxing this even more fun. The theme for this box is Kawaii New Year, and I see lots of helpful items that will help me crush my New Year’s resolutions!
There’s a second card that offers $5 when you share with a friend, and the back has their social media contest info to win a free megabox.
The final card offers a coupon for a free gift on the Blippo site, and the back advertises the company’s candy box, which boasts free shipping.
Sumikko Gurashi Mini Notepad - Retail Value $2.90
I’m an office supplies junkie, and I always need little pieces of paper for writing down reminders, goals, to-do’s, etc. I love the super-small size of this notepad; it would totally fit in a jeans pocket! I also love that half of the pad has lined paper, while the other half is white. Perfect for doodles!
Blippo Unicorn Plushie Charm - Retail Value $ 2.90
Oh, my goodness. I love unicorns, and this charm is so cute. And purple is actually my favorite color. This looks well-made and is solid without being heavy. I think I’m going to attach this to the book bag I usually take while traveling - it’ll make me smile every time I see it!
Kawaii Bunny Ears Pen - Retail Value $1.90
I have so many mugs full of pens around my house - I could never say no to a new one! This pen is different from my usual ballpoints, though - the tip is needle-thin, and it’s almost marker-y when it writes. I like that even though it’s a fun color on the outside, its ink is plain black, which helps me continue the facade that I’m an adult living in the real world.
Glico Caplico Strawberry Chocolate Hearts - Retail Value $1.78 (currently out of stock)
I had no idea this box was going to include snacks, but I’m so happy it included THESE snacks. From their amazing strawberry scent to their adorable, egg-carton-esque packaging, these sweets became an instant favorite of mine. The chocolate on the bottom is solid, and they’re not marshmallow on top, but more like a mousse that’s been set and immediately melts in your mouth when eaten. I had two before I could stop myself, and can’t wait to finish the package.
Kanahei Sticker Sheet - Retail Value $2.50
I will always have a soft spot for stickers. They remind me of my elementary school days when everyone was obsessed with Lisa Frank. It cracks me up to think about it, but my friends and I started a sixth-grade sticker-trading ring at recess that was so intense, it would’ve made bank insiders blush. These stickers would’ve been MAJOR currency back in those days, but now I’m just excited to decorate notecards with them...I’m totally reformed of my bartering ways!
Rainbow Ice Cream Cone Squishy - Retail Value $2.80
What a fun little stress reliever! I love the rainbow color and it is so nice to squeeze. Sometimes my hands get cramped up from typing all day, and this squishy would be a great desktop item to remind me to take a break and stretch out my fingers.
Blippo Forest Animals Purse - Retail Value $4.90
I totally lucked out with this purse/pencil case - pandas are actually my favorite animal! The material feels sturdy, and I really like the long wristlet-style handle. I may reserve this to help keep my beauty products organized; I think it would fit lots of makeup brushes, or maybe my growing sheet mask collection.
Shibanban Sticker Pack - Retail Value $3.40
These stickers are so squee-worthy! I love the packaging and all of the different shapes. My best friend has always wanted a Shiba Inu of her own, so as much as I want to keep these for myself, I think I’m going to send them her way. I told you I’m sticker-trade reformed!
Blippo M&M Hair Bands - Retail Value $2.90
These hair bands are super cute. Even though they’re not my style, the colors are nice and bright, and I like the little embellishments on them. I didn’t even try these in my hair because my locks are curly, thick, and have been known to break even heavy-duty hair ties. I’ll have to find a friend that will enjoy these on my behalf, but I don’t think that’ll be hard!
Verdict: What an amazing introduction to Kawaii Box! For $24.90 including free shipping, I received nine items with a value of $25.98. Everything was so cute, and I can see myself really getting some good use of out most of these items. I loved this month’s strawberry-chocolate snack, the unicorn charm is attached to my book bag, and I already keep the bunny pen close at hand. I think I’ll share the wealth and give a few of the other things, like the stickers, to friends who will appreciate their adorable aesthetic.
