Nerdy Post is a monthly celebration of your favorite fandoms from TV, movies, and books. Every month, you'll get handcrafted items centered around a different monthly fandom.
Everything you get in Nerdy Post is handmade by Alexis, Nerdy Post's creator. Here's what their site says:
"...we wanted to provide unique, high-quality designs that you wouldn't find anywhere else. Hand lettering and illustrating these designs means that nothing is created using fonts or stock images from a computer. Designs are of course digitized in order to be printed on the products, but they will retain their hand-crafted quality."
Alexis recently started offering a Nerdy Tees subscription, which features one graphic tee that fits the monthly theme, for $15.95 a month plus shipping. You can also get the t-shirt and the items in the usual Nerdy Post box in her Nerdy Combo subscription, which is $29.90 per month plus shipping. She also offers Nerdy Post Lite for $9.95 per month, which delivers 5-7 items each month, instead of the 8 that arrive in the classic Nerdy Post.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
This review is for the Nerdy Post box, which is $13.95 a month.

Nerdy Post "Disney Villains" January 2018 Review
Here's the product list for the box. Poor Alexis explains how she was sick during the prep for this month's box! It looks like she pulled something really fun together, nonetheless. Huge high-five to her—when I'm sick, I never want to do anything, let alone work!
If you're following along, I'm reviewing the standard Nerdy Post box, so we'll see the items that are listed under Nerdy Post Lite AND Nerdy Post on the info card!
Maleficent Quote Print
I really love the specific shade of green used in this tribute to the villainess from Sleeping Beauty. It's so cool, crisp, and a little bit creepy, too. The edges of Maleficent's silhouette almost glow purple, too. This poster is about the size of a standard sheet of paper, but it's printed on stiffer paper. (It's not glossy, but it does have a smooth, nicer finish.) It arrives rolled up, but there are instructions on the info card about how to flatten it out!
Two-Sided Bookmark featuring Gaston and Shere Khan Quotes
Next up is one of this subscription's classic two-sided bookmarks. The paper has a nice velvety smooth quality to it, and the colors, especially on the Shere Khan side, really pop. The Gaston quote was designed by Instagram user @calligrapynerd, and the Shere Khan quote was done by @unluckydesign. I always like when the quotes chosen for the bookmark nod to reading, like the Gaston one does. But I've gotta say, the striking Shere Khan side is definitely my fave. I love how the words weave in and out from between the ferns!
Cruella Quote Mini Print
Yessss! As far as villains go, Cruella deVille is one of my faves. I'll pass on her penchant for animal cruelty, but there's something so classically villainous about the slinky way she carries herself. And that two-tone hair? Amazing. This 5" x 7" design by @reverieandink pays tribute to Cruella's irreverent attitude. (It actually appears on the back of the info card, just FYI.) I love the colors and the way that there are no outlines in this design—there's something really crisp, artsy, and fresh about it.
Yzma Quote Sticker
The Emperor's New Groove is one of those movies that doesn't get talked about nearly enough. I still crack up when I watch it, and the dynamic, dastardly Yzma is one of the main reasons. This 3" sticker by @inkandwonder has a great smooth finish, is super opaque, and has a nice stick to it. I love that they centered the design around a vial from Yzma's secret lab!
Madam Mim Coloring Book Postcard
Each box in this subscription includes one of these coloring-book-inspired postcards. It's a cute way to let subscribers get in on the creative vibes! Every month's postcard design is different and tailored to the theme. I completely forgot about Madam Mim and The Sword and the Stone! I watched that movie soooo often when I was little, and yet it kind of fluttered out of my memory. How fun to see the familiar face of Madam Mim (in dragon form)!
Mother Gothel Quote Print
Tangled is one of my favorite newer Disney movies! I feel like this 5" x 7" print would be a great gift for a Disney-loving mom (but one with a good sense of humor—we all know that Mother Gothel was not as great of a mother as she advertised...). I like the simple, yet sinister vibe of this print. It almost looks like it could be a Mother's Day card design with the floaty script used for "Mother" and the pretty golden flower. But the black background and the bold, striking font weaving its way around the dark leaves of the plant give the look a little more edge.
Hades Quote Memo Pad
What a clever combination of a quote and an item! This quote is such a great example of how hilariously human the supernatural character of Hades was portrayed in Hercules. I love the blue flame detail (Hades' hair) in the bottom corner, and the general blue hue. I feel like this 5" x 7" pad would be so fun to keep at an office desk, but it might have to end up living at my house—I don't want any non-Disney-fan coworkers thinking I'm going to maim them!
Dr. Facilier Enamel Pin
Eeee! This spooky pin as awesome! I love that they captured the Shadowman's shadow, as well as his skull face and top hat. The pin is only about an inch and a half wide, so it'll be a small addition to my lapel. But I like that it has two posts on the back, rather than one to keep it extra secured there.
The Verdict: This box was a lot of fun! I'm glad the villains of Disney got some time in the spotlight. It's cool that they picked some characters from less-talked-about movies, like The Princess and the Frog, Hercules, and The Sword and the Stone. The designs were all so unique, and I loved all of the brilliant, playful colors and lettering styles.
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Boxes ship out on the 15th of the month. However, if there are extra boxes available, they're sometimes listed on the Nerdy Post site shop!
