Paper Pumpkin January 2018 Review
The instruction leaflet is not as informative as the how-to-video on YouTube, which I prefer to watch before starting the project. I use the instruction leaflet as a guide when I get stuck on a step.
This month’s theme is “Heartfelt Love Notes.”
Enclosed in each monthly kit are a water-based dye ink stamp pad and a photopolymer stamp set. The photopolymer stamp set has two envelopes with hearts, XOXO, To, From, Love, Happy Valentine’s Day, You Make My Heart Happy, Be Mine, and Sending Hugs and Kisses To You .”
Here’s my set-up for the card making process.
Here I am stamping the sentiments onto the white tags.
Here I am stamping the inside of the card.
Here I used the photopolymer stamp that says, “Happy Valentine’s Day,” as you can see it’s reversed lettering and this style didn’t coordinate with the design of the cards or the lettering on the other stamps.
Here I used an alternative stamp that had Happy Valentine’s Day that I borrowed from a friend.
Here is the finished look of the cards. The cards open half way with an insert inside to hold the note cards and you close the cards with ribbon provided, there are tiny slots on the side of the cards for the ribbon. The four cards have the following sentiments on the front, “Sending Hugs and Kisses To You,” “Friends Forever”(this stamp is not in this kit), “You Make My Heart Happy,” and “Be Mine.”
I stamped “To” and “From” on a few envelopes for a touch of flair.
Here is a look at the inside of the cards I made, I switched up the sayings and made some of the cards for birthday and friendship.
Verdict: This month’s Paper Pumpkin was an easy assemble and I have fun cards to send to my family and friends. The design of the cards with the slot for the note cards is a nice touch, and if you don’t want to use the note cards, it can be used to hold a gift card. A few times when I was stamping with the photopolymer stamp set and the water-based dye ink, the stamp didn’t have enough ink on the stamp, and it came out partially stamped. I need to figure out the best way to ensure that when I stamp that all the dye is adhered to the stamp to go with whatever I am stamping. This box has good quality paper products and crafting supplies and well worth the $19.95 a month subscription cost.
