Penny + Grace "Winter" December 2017 Review
I love the dainty jewelry in this subscription! Let's see what seasonal picks they sent this month:
Here's the info card for the pack, which lists the products inside.
Bonus Item: Enamel Penguin Pin - Estimated Value $10.00
Every Penny + Grace pack arrives inside a black canvas bag. I find these bags super helpful for everything from pencils to toiletries... and yes, storing jewelry!
Lately, they've been tacking bonus enamel pins on the pouches, too! How cute! This month, the pin is a little black and white penguin. It's barely an inch big, but as a Pittsburgher (and thus, a Pittsburgh Penguins hockey fan), I'm thrilled that I'll be able to wear this subtle salute to my favorite team on game days.
Alex Dot Necklace - Listed Value $18.00
This necklace is on the super-simple end of the spectrum, even for Penny + Grace. I like it a lot though—I don't know if I'll wear it by itself or pair it with other necklaces. With its slender weight and simple texture, I feel like it'd lend itself well to a layered look.
The necklace itself is about 16 inches long, with 2 inches of chain to fasten it to. In the photo above, I'm wearing it on the very last link of the chain, so it's at its longest (18 inches).
La Neige Necklace - Listed Value $22.00
This is such a cute wintry look! It's definitely more modern than most of the "festive" jewelry I see on sale this time of year. As someone who goes to a lot of different kinds of winter celebrations, I'm happy that this necklace isn't specifically Christmas (no wreaths or trees or reindeer). It makes it more versatile, so I can wear it to numerous different occasions (Hanukkah parties, Solstice get-togethers, Christmas dinners, Frozen-themed birthdays...).
This necklace is about 16.5" long with about 4 inches worth of additional thin chain and loops to fasten the lobster-claw clasp onto. So still not super long, but longer than the first pick.
La Neige Earrings - Listed Value $12.95
I think these are my favorite item in the pack. These earrings just have the perfect size to them. I love how the intricacy of the snowflake pattern makes them feel fancy, though the crisp, clean metallic finish keeps things modern, rather than super glitzy (like you'd get with crystal or rhinestones). They feel very comfortable and easygoing, though I could just as easily wear them with a pretty cocktail dress as I could with jeans and a t-shirt!
The Verdict: I really liked Penny + Grace's interpretation of seasonal winter jewelry. I like that they didn't go too deep into holiday-specific looks, so that these have versatility and a life beyond December 25th. I'm planning to go skating at an outdoor rink with friends in January, and I think I'll wear all three of these looks, plus maybe a few other necklaces layered on with these two.
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the January box. Order between the 1st to 20th of the month to nab that month's pack. Order between the 20th and the end of the month to get the next month's pack.
Value Breakdown: The box was $19.99, with an estimated value of $62.95 (if you count the bonus pin). That means that, proportionally, I paid the following for the items inside:
- Pin - $3.18
- Dot necklace - $5.72
- Snowflake necklace - $6.98
- Earrings - $4.11
