Piibu Box December 2017 Review
Each Piibu Box does not come with an information card. Their website does list items included in each box, but I've found that updates there are several months behind.
Onto the masks:
Nature Republic Aloe Real Nature Sheet Mask - Retail Value $2.00 (found here for $1.50, currently out of stock)
This sheet mask is on the larger, more rigid side compared to others I've tried. Its aloe scent immediately hits you upon opening the package. Strong, but pleasant! Aloe is known to be a soothing ingredient, and this mask did effectively calm and moisturize my winter-dry skin. After about 15 minutes, however, it did become a little irritating. This might not be the greatest mask option for someone with, particularly sensitive skin.
Leaders Insolution Anti-Aging Treatment Mask - Retail Value $4.00 (found here for $2.50, currently out of stock)
First impression: I loved that this mask focuses on elasticity. I've definitely noticed a decrease in my skin's collagen after having a baby recently and could use help in plumping up dull areas. The sheet is very thin making for an extremely comfortable fit. Its thinness paired with the viscous, gel-like serum made for a very sheer, saturated sheet -- definitely thicker than most other mask serum formulas. It left my skin super hydrated and revitalized! I'm starting to be pretty impressed with all of the masks that I've tried from Leaders Insolution lately. Looking forward to more from them in future Piibu Boxes, for sure!
TonyMoly I'm Real Broccoli Mask Sheet, Vitality - Retail Value $1.88
Ah, TonyMoly. This is a brand that's readily available at places like Ulta and local pharmacies. While I really love the brand for its accessibility and cute package design, these masks can be really hit or miss. This one was, unfortunately, one of those misses for me. While the sheet didn't have any sort of offensive smell or initially irritating feeling on the face, it did become itchy and left an unpleasant sticky residue. It sort of made me feel like I was going to break out, to be honest. Not a fave.
the SAEM Pure Natural Ginseng Sheet Mask - Retail Value $1.50 (found here for $1.00, currently out of stock)
I liked this mask! It's on the wet side, but it didn't create a drippy mess like some do. The standout characteristic of this mask is definitely its unique scent. Earthy, spicy, and... vegetable-like? It reminded me a lot of wasabi! I could see someone taking offense to the smell, but I tend to enjoy savory scents over overtly sweet ones. It had a really wonderful cooling sensation and left my skin looking nice and fresh.
A'Pieu Egg White Nose Patch - Retail Value $0.79 (found here for $0.50)
This soft, pliable white strip clears and tightens pores. Simply peel the strip off of its clear backing, like a sticker. Apply it to the nose area and then dampen the other side to activate the strip's sticky side. I really loved the results that this strip gave me! Once the strip dried down and a pulled it away from my nose, it was pretty astonishing to check out the lil' peaks of stuff that it pulled from my pores. As far as pore stripes go, this is a solid one.
Holika Holika After Leports Mask Sheet - Buy 5 for $14.90 (currently out of stock)
Okay, the graphic on this package is pretty funny. That guy in the background closely resembles one of the most popular memes of 2017, too, am I right? Anyway, I wasn't sure what 'after leports' meant at first, but it's pretty clear that this is some sort of post-workout mask based on the package illustration alone. The sheet is cooling and wet - perfect for a sweaty and hot face! - and had a strong perfumey, powdery scent. Though I don't normally like obvious scents, this one serves a special purpose. The mask was was very stretchy and comfortable on my face. However, it did tend to sting after several minutes. Though I did feel that it calmed my skin and reduced redness, it also left a residue that I didn't love. This would be a great mask to toss in your gym bag if you don't have time for a shower. Better yet if you do, though -- you can wash off the stickiness that it leaves behind.
A'Pieu Sweet Bar Sheet Mask, Pineapple - Retail Value $1.69 (found here for $1.14)
More cute packaging! The summery design of this mask's packaging was a nice treat in the midst of 10 degree temperatures. This mask claims that ocean water gives tired skin high hydration and vitality and that a transparent and soft tencel sheet delivers the ingredients more effectively. It smells like sweet pineapple candy, as you may expect based on package design. The sheet is soaked in very liquidy serum, and, yes, it's pretty drippy. It adheres well with a comfortable fit. Overall, this one is great for moisturizing if you don't mind sweet scents.
Sur Medic Pore-Less Carbolic-Peel - Retail Value $3.50
This mask contains carbonated water to help decongest pores, lift impurities, and remove excess sebum. The black sheet is very soft and almost felt like a fabric sort of material. The holes is the sheet were small, which I like -- I always appreciate when a mask fits snugly like this one. The scent is very ‘clean’ smelling, like a really lovely soap or shampoo. I found that my skin appeared noticeably clearer and just... renewed the morning after using this mask. Very balancing!
Verdict: I'm really enjoying Piibu Box! Each box supplies a really nicely curated assortment of masks that treat a range of issues, and I found a couple gems in this one in particular. As I've mentioned in the past, however, I only wish that they would include an info card that details each mask's name, value, and ingredients.
