Rebecca Mail "Celebrate Winter" Deluxe Box January 2018 Review
Here's the info booklet for this "Celebrate Winter" box! They break down all the items in the box with little explanations of what makes them special/why they were included.
Swig 20 oz. Insulated Tumbler in Pearl White - Retail Value $29.99, Listed Value $27.99 (Found here for $24.50)
I am soooo grateful for this tumbler! This year, I've been trying to get into a routine of drinking hot lemon water, or at least some hot tea, first thing in the morning. I love tea, so that part of the equation was easy. What I don't like is waking up any earlier than I have to in the morning. While I'd love to enjoy my morning brew from the comfort of my couch, I find that it's wayyy more convenient for me to drink my tea on the go (in other words, in the car, during my commute to work). This sleek, white tumbler not only keeps my tea water warm through the entire drive (and then some), but it also fits beautifully in my cup holder! The outside of the mug doesn't warm up at all, which is a little sad for my cold hands between my house and my car, but the convenience outweighs that little pleasure. Besides, I'll have a warm ceramic mug of tea once I get to work anyways! (Did I mention I love tea?)
Double Cross Weave Infinity Scarf in Navy - Listed Value $24.99
Wow, is this scarf ever soft! I'm a big infinity scarf fan (they're just so darn easy to wear), and this navy one has already made its way into plenty of wintry outfits of mine. The fabric is cushy and super soft—like the softness of a plush, fleecy blanket. Apparently, subscribers received this scarf in one of three wintry jewel tones. I'm happy with my navy one, but the peacock color they show in the info booklet looks really pretty, too.
Celebrate Everything Art Print - Listed Value $14.00
I see a lot of prints in boxes, and so often, they seem like an afterthought—just a postcard-sized card floating in the box. I always wish they got a little more love! So I really appreciate that this print has a bit more formality to it. Not only does this 5" x 7" print come sandwiched between a velvety smooth mat and a similarly weighty, solid backing card (which bumps the size up to 8" x 10"), but the whole thing comes in a clear plastic sleeve to avoid damage during transit. It might still be a relatively simple computer-rendered design, but the presentation makes me feel like it's something I'll be more likely to display or frame and give as a gift.
Pearlized Circle Barette by Love Lilly Designs - Listed Value $7.00
I couldn't find this piece online, so I just noted the listed value above. This plastic pearl circle is about 1.5" wide, and the barrette has a nice stick to it (though it wasn't quite tough enough to hold my thick hair in a half-up pony). My hair is finally a manageable length and shape after several months of growing out my pixie cut, so I'm happy to have this little tool around to pin back my bangs or add a little pop to a plain hair day. If you're into mod-inspired hairstyles, I could see this being a great find!
Addy Rose Southern Stud Earrings - Retail Value $6.00
These earrings are super cute, though the druzy on one of the studs popped out of its setting as I was putting them on. But add a little dab of glue, and they were good to go! That said, if you ever receive something damaged, don't fret! Just reach out to Rebecca Mail and they'll do whatever they can to remedy the situation 🙂
I like the frosty white color of these studs, but my favorite part about them is the way the druzy's points flicker with magenta, purple, blue, and yellow. These earrings are unicorn-like, wintry, magical... love, love, love!
Celavi Pomegranate Sheet Mask, 0.74 oz. - Listed Value $2.50, Buy it in a 12-count variety pack for $13.58 here
This pomegranate mask is meant to brighten and enhance your skin by evening and toning. I can't say I saw too much of a difference in terms of the color or vibrancy of my skin, but I can say that this mask left my face feeling so refreshed and moisturized, which in the dead of winter, is very much appreciated!
Rebecca Mail Exclusive Card - Listed Value $4.50
Oh wow, do I ever want a donut now! This cute card is blank inside, so you can tailor the message to whatever situation feels right. The front is glossy, so the pink color of the frosting really pops. I also like that the card (and its envelope) come tucked into a clear plastic sleeve, which should protect it from damage while it waits in my stationery drawer to be used.
KIND Popped Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Bar, 1.2 oz. - Listed Value $2.50, Buy 15 for $7.80 here
Mmmm! KIND makes some of my favorite snack bars. This square-shaped bar is made from popped grains like amaranth, sorghum, quinoa, and buckwheat, so they're nutrient dense as well as delicious. I love anything with dark chocolate in it, so this crunchy bar was a winner for me!
Stash Tea Sampler - Listed Value $1.00
Hooray for tea! These will be perfect for my morning tea habit. Stash is a nice quality tea with lovely flavors—the orange one is my favorite, especially on a cold morning. It's cute that they thought to not only give you a tumbler but something to put in it, as well!
The Verdict: I liked this month's box a lot! That tumbler is so handy to me that it almost makes the whole thing worth it. Some of the accessories were of a simpler quality (not bad at all, just not super fancy), and I wish I knew the brand/maker for the scarf (if simply so I could buy more colors for myself/friends), but overall, I have few complaints. I'll be interested to see how this subscription continues to evolve in its transition to being quarterly. I'm guessing we'll get more seasonal themes, but who can say! I think this box makes a sweet treat for yourself or for a friend/family member who deserves some fun mail now and again. No matter what's inside, something about it always seems happy and upbeat.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign ups for the quarterly box will resume March 1, 2018. You can, however, still sign up for their Snail Mail box!
Value Breakdown: I paid $41.00 (price + shipping). The estimated value I got for the items inside is about $92.48. Not bad! You can also look at it in this way—that the average price paid for each of the 9 items in the box was $4.56.
