Splendies Women's Underwear Subscription December 2017 Review

Splendies undies are always so colorful. Let's see what's in this month's pack:

front of blue thong back of blue thong white lace trim on blue thong

Periwinkle Blue Thong Underwear with White Lace Trim - Listed Value $12.00

This thong comes with a Splendies tag, rather than a tag from another brand. The MSRP on the tag says $12.00, so that's what I've listed above. Quality-wise, however, they feel a bit closer to what I might find for under $10.00 in the Target underwear aisle. That's not a terrible thing—I love the Target underwear aisle! These rayon/spandex undies are really, really soft, almost like a favorite, worn-in t-shirt. But they're also rather thin—if I hold them up, I can see through the fabric pretty easily. Comfort-wise, that doesn't mean much, but it does mean I'll be careful when washing them. They fit a little tight around my size 10 hips, but the fabric is soft, stretchy, and breathable!

holiday pattern red and blue underwear red blue and yellow holiday underwear from behind red lace trim on holiday undies

Holiday Underwear with Red Lace Trim - Listed Value $12.00

This is another Splendies pair that has $12.00 listed on the tag. These rayon/spandex undies were the most comfortable of all of the styles in the pack, probably because of the wide, lacy waistband. It creates a softer crease in the pudge on my hip than looks with thin waistbands. The holiday motif is subtle on these, so I wouldn't feel weird wearing 'em all winter. Like the thong, they're also really thin, and they don't provide a ton of coverage in the back. But I do like how they fit through the hips!

splendies hipster back of hipster underwear poly cotton mulberry boyshorts

Wilshire Montana Boyshort Underwear - Listed Value $12.00

This pair is the only one in the pack without a Splendies tag, but I wasn't able to find this brand online anywhere nonetheless. It did have an MSRP listed on the tag, though, so that's what I listed above. Cotton/poly blend undies are usually my favorite to wear, but this pair just didn't work with my curvier parts. While they do have some stretch, something about the cut of the legs made them a little less than comfortable. I don't think they can handle the booty, folks. But they are soft and have a lovely mulberry color!

The Verdict: This pack of Splendies had some sizing issues but overall, it was fun and pretty cost-effective, too. The undies felt great, fabric-wise, but they were a little so-so in terms of fit and quality—again, they're around Target-ish quality, so they're good, but I don't know if they're on par with a higher, $10.00+ price point each. (MeUndies, for instance, strike me as being wayyy higher quality and are priced at $14.00 per pair.) Still, the fun colors and convenience factor are nice perks!

Value Breakdown: This pack cost me $13.99 with free shipping, but going by the MSRP prices on each tag, I got $36.00 worth of undies inside. The average price I paid for each pair via this subscription is $4.66.

Re the Plus sizing. I subbed to Splendies as a plus size, then as a size Med. after losing about 8 sizes through dieting.
I believe that during my weight loss journey ( oh, it was a march through hell, who am I kidding?) I had 2 sizes in Plus, and 2 sizes in Regular.

This was when Splendies was switching over to their own brand of Made in China cheap rayon/ spandex panties. There was barely 1 inch difference in a size L and a size 1X most of the time.

Also, I had a terrible experience with the owner calling me at night at home because I had asked for a return via email for undies which were delivered into my locked home mailbox with every appearance of having been worn and then returned. He was not nice to me, said demeaning things which were subjective on his part and extremely defensive, and mostly for that reason, which was not supportive of his female customer base, I do not think this is a good subscription.

I’d love to see the subscriptions mentioned, ” Knotty Knickers” and ” MeUndies” reviewed instead of this one. I don’t buy at Target, but this subscription’s overall quality is extremely low.

I’d read MeUndies and Knotty Knickers reviews… the underwear in this review is definitely my style, but sizing issues mentioned in other reviews make this sub a no-go for me. I’m consistently an 8 on the bottom, which I think would be an L here, but I am curvey so I just don’t know.

I used to have this subscription. I’m plus size and having to pay an additional $3 plus tax and still taking a chance that they would fit…I was done playing that game. I did however find another subscription called Knotty Knickers. They are based in Canada but are WAY cheaper than Splendies. They do ship to the US but cause of that, you get the package normally about 5 days after they ship it. When I can get 3 pairs for $10 to $13 (depending on the shipping charge) I’ll wait for it! 🙂

How do these compare with the quality of the underwear in Bootaybag? Those seem a bit flimsy to me.

I also got the size Large package and I also had sizing issues. Especially the pinkish cheeksters. I wear size 8-10 in pants and they were too small for me. I gave them to my daughter who wears a size 2. They fit her! This happened with one pair last month too.

I love that they now offer plus sizes, but I have to ask— is the additional 3$ in price really necessary?
