BoxyCharm is a full-size beauty and makeup subscription box. They always provide a great value compared the cost of the box. (If you are a makeup addict - I HIGHLY recommend this box!)

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: BoxyCharm

The Cost: $21 a month

The Products: 5-6 beauty items that will include nail care, skin care, makeup, haircare, fragrance and more. (At least 4 of those items will be full-sized).

Ships to: US and Canada

Check out all of my BoxyCharm reviews and the Beauty Subscription Box Directory!

Each box comes with a card detailing the items included.

Now, time for the items!

Crown Pro Trio Brush Set – Retail Value $29.99

All subscribers will receive this brush set.

The smallest brush is designed for concealer, the medium brush can be used for applying foundation or contouring, and the larger brush is for setting powder.

The bristles are synthetic, super soft, densely packed, and the pink is a cute touch!

CoverFX Shimmer Veil Amethyst – Retail Value $28

All subscribers will receive this item.

This is the hero item in the box for me - it is stunning! It's a liquid shimmer that goes on thin, and you can blend or build up the color. No fall out, and no creasing issues either!

And it's a pretty versatile product, too. You can use it as a lip topper, an eyeshadow, and a highlighter!

(Swatched in lower photo.)

Ofra Cosmetics Pop-Up Palette - Retail Value $21

Subscribers will either receive this palette with the blush below or Naked Cosmetics Highlighter Palette.

If you aren't familiar, this is a magnetic palette that allows you to customize it with the pans of your choice. While I would have loved to receive the highlighter palette, this is such a practical item - I'm very happy to have it!

And it comes with:

OFRA Cosmetics Blush Winter Rose Glow Pan - Retail Value $12

This is a warm brown blush with great pigment. The finish is matte, just a hint of shimmer throughout.

Here it is in the palette:

(Swatched in lower photo.)

Vintage Cosmetics Smokey Eye Pencil – Retail Value $21

This item has been in all the spoiler variations we've seen so far, but it is not confirmed if all subscribers will receive it.

Black eye liners aren't the most exciting subscription box item, but I will say that this one has impressive staying power for a pencil.

Here it is swatched below the blush, and above the Shimmer Veil:

Can you see why I'm obsessed with that Shimmer Veil?

PUR Lips Plumping Lip Exfoliator – Retail Value $17

(Based on spoilers, subscribers will either receive this item, Bellapierre Cosmetic Glitter, or Seraphine Botanicals Sugar + Lemon Moisturizing Lip Buffer.)

I have to admit, I wasn't too excited about this product (it was the last thing I tried), but it is the surprise win in the box for me! I've sampled so many lip scrubs but none have been in a stick form, and after trying this, stick form makes so much sense! The application was super easy, the sugar exfoliation was delicious, and my lips are extra moisturized, too.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $127! As always, the value for Boxycharm is amazing! I'll use everything in this box, and it's a good mix of exciting and fun makeup (Shimmer Veil) and super practical items (Z palette, lip exfoliator).

I think Boxycharm is a perfect subscription for people who love makeup. You're going to get a lot of palettes, highlighters, etc., so it's great if you want to build your collection and try all the things! (If you only need one highlighter/palette in your makeup arsenal, this might not be the best box for you.)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Possibly. Boxycharm is in waitlist mode, so I recommend signing up ASAP. They'll email you when your first box ships, so you'll know which box you'll be getting as your first month.

Coupon – No coupons at this time.

Value Breakdown: At $21 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • OFRA Palette + Blush: $5.13
  • CoverFX: $4.63
  • Eyeliner: $3.47
  • PUR Lip Exfoliator: $2.81
  • Brush Trio Set: $4.96

I got the Naked unicorn looking, I’m 15 years old palette. I never really use anything from the boxes, anyways. I get it to get it. Once in awhile, I find a hidden gem. I think thats the concept of the box, actually. I like to use the throw away brushes we get. The Moda set, I just pulled out from a couple months back and those are actually holding up more than a couple uses, which is bomb. I repurchase these kinds of brushes often. I own Wayne Goss brushes but I don’t like to use them for the everyday makeup. I did like the lip buffer I received, ALOT! I’ll repurchase that. I have hundreds of eyeliners, no big deal, black is fine. The Cover FX looks like gizz when it dries. Already had it. I never complaim, i have an arsenal of makeup that I pay retail for. It’s only $21, what do you really expect? I meam, come on people.

I agree with most of what you just said, once in a while we get a gem but mostly it’s not worth complaining over in a $21 dollar box. and we really do get a lot of “I’m 15 and I wanna be a glittery holo unicorn” products

Hello everyone, I am new to this subscription.. Can someone explain to me how this sub works, please? I got off the waitlist today (Feb 17), does that mean I will be receiving this February box? If I understand correctly, I am going to be charged next month around March 2nd for the March box?
How quickly do they ship the box once you are off the waitlist?
Thank you!

Reply ButtonReply

Annabelle

If you got an email saying you are off the waitlist and then an email saying your card has been charged then you are getting it for the month. If they haven’t charged your card, you will receive your box the month your card is charged.

Reply ButtonReply

JesssieNoJoke

Yes you will get a version of February’s and will be billed again for March between March 1st to the 3rd. Shipping is 10 to 12 days after your payments has posted to your account. Not pending a lot of people don’t Understand that your payment actually has to post. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your box. This was the first time Ive never liked a box.

Jamie

That is sooooo annoying but super helpful. I got off waitlist on 23rd but my payment at least on my banks end still says pending. Thanks for the info!

Victoria

I got off the waitlist today also and will be receiving the February box. You get the box for the month you are billed , I was billed today so I will be receiving this. I’m hoping for the highlighter palette, just wish they would send me the shipping infor so I can see the deminsions lol

Juliya

Thank you for your response, Victoria. Yeah, I am super curious what I’ll be getting in my box 🙂 hope you get what you want.

Jacqueline

I would love to swap the OFRA palette/blush for the Naked highlighter if anyone is interested!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan

I will! I got the highlighter palette but don’t really use highlighters often.

Reply ButtonReply

Jacqueline

I’d love to swap, what’s the best way to exchange info here?

Ksenia

I got naked palette. Do you want to swap?

Reply ButtonReply

Roxanne

Can we swap?? I never got it

Jacqueline

I’d love to swap, I’m not sure what the best way of exchanging info on here is.

Chrystal

I received the variation with purple BellaPierre glitter and Naked Cosmetics highlighter. Too bad the purple glitter arrived AFTER I returned home from Mardi Gras, the only possible use I would have for such an item 🙄

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

Can someone who isn’t getting glitter fallout please tell me how to how they apply that cover FX?
The color is so pretty but I can’t wear it without getting glitter all over my face.

Reply ButtonReply

Aileen

I apply it onto my fingertips at first and dab it onto my eye. I haven’t had any fallout doing it by that method

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

Great, thank you! I was applying it directly to my eyelid and it ended up everywhere!

Tracey

I get two boxes a month.

You know whats worse than ONE cheesy blue glitter?

Getting TWO identical boxes out of 4 possible variations, BOTH with cheesy blue glitter.

The glitter is a waste. Seriously, it doesn’t even look cosmetic grade, it looks like it belongs in a child’s craft stash. Its not even neutral, its bright blue. Ugh.

First thing I haven’t donated, but put straight in the bin.

Enough said about the cheesy blue glitters.

On the upside, I have two naked highlight palettes in perfect condition. Willing to trade one for the Ofra palette, if someone got that and didnt want it. 🙂

I love the amethyst shimmer veil, so very happy to have two of those. And the pencils aren’t really black, so okay with those too.

Reply ButtonReply

Trish

I would love to trade if you still have the Naked Pallet!

Reply ButtonReply

de

I got neon pink glitter

Reply ButtonReply

Julles

I did too! It’s pretty but I’m not sure how to apply it and use it or what to use as a bonding agent. I haven’t used loose pigments much let alone fine glitter. I’m excited to try it out though. With a light hand I’m sure it can be very pretty and ethereal. If anyone has any tips for the pigment, let me know:)

Randee Ball

I’ll totally trade you the ofra pallette for the naked highlighter palette! My email is randeesinbox at gmail. Thanks!

Ashlea

This is the exact box I got. I was a bit disappointed at first, but now that I’ve tried everything I’m sold. I realized I had a ton of sample pans to put in the palette, which cleaned up my bathroom counter, and the pur lip is awesome. Only one I won’t use is the eyeliner, since I hate ones you have to sharpen, so that’ll be an extra in a swap at some point.

AdriT

Anyone interested in swapping their z palette for the highlight palette, I’m up for it!

Brandi

I am! Are you on swaps?

I am kind of upset over seeing boxycharm do a variation box and I hope they don’t start making their future boxes this way. I just fear that it might get like Ipsy (I cancelled Ipsy after 2 years). I like that Boxy makes it fair, everyone gets the same items each month. I don’t like when monthly beauty boxes do variations because I watched and witnessed what happens. Loyal subscribers who don’t use social media that much end up getting crappy boxes.
The beauty bloggers, and people who have 1000’s of instagram followers end up getting all of the good items. also brand new customers will get the best items as a lure to join. It happens with many companies and I hope Boxycharm doesn’t sell out like other monthly beauty boxes subscription Businesses. Boxy is my favorite box by far and I have constantly talked them up ever since I became a member, so I am hopeful that they will not sell out like others have.

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

I cancelled for exactly this reason. If they are going give the more expensive box away and the people who pay get the short stick well then I’m out.
See ya Boxycharm.

Momo

Hi. Love your website, reviews & spoilers! I would love to see a poll listed w/ the varied boxes for your readers. I’m interested to see how many subscribers got which box.

I received this exact same box. I was disappointed I did not get the Naked highlighter:-( i was really looking fwd to trying those colors id nvr purchase myself. Don’t really need a magnetic pan and I thought it was brown eyeshadow (lol), not blush! Even worse now, I probably can’t even wear the color, it would just make my face look dirty. I felt the brushes were too oddly shaped, size was off & just lacked something… hmm, Im alrdy ready for the next box to arrive.

Reply ButtonReply

Emily

I would love to swap for the ofra palette. I don’t sub to this box, so I don’t have the highlighter palette to trade, but I do have other items up on my swap page!

Reply ButtonReply

Allie

I got this exact box as well-the lip scrub tastes awful, and I think there’s a huge disparity between those getting an empty palette and those getting a full one. Kind of….odd. The only thing saving me from hating this box are the CoverFX and the brushes.

Reply ButtonReply

Lee Ann

Anyone want to swap the Ofra blush and palette for the highlighter palette? I am swimming in blushes.

Reply ButtonReply

AdriT

If you’re interested in trading as well, let me know. I really wanted the z palette.

Reply ButtonReply

Christina

I’d love to if your still interested. How would we go about doing that?

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I got this exact box. I am swapping the palette and Cover FX. Don’t need either. Love the lip exfoliate, the rest of it was nice. Not my best box ever.

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

I received the same box. At first I thought it was going to just be an okay box but I actually really like it now that I have it. I also now have a place to put all the eyeshadow pans I received from Ipsy.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I finally got off the waitlist today after having signed up in December, and I’m pretty excited to finally be subbed to Boxycharm again after over a year of not receiving the box (even though I’ll only be subbed for 3 months). I wonder if I’ll be receiving this box. I’d actually end up gifting most of this month’s box though, but that’s okay.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I got this exact box. My palette and Cover FX are both up for swap. I love the lip exfoliate and the brushes. The blush is nice and I am wearing it today. The eyeliner isn’t my favorite but it is very pigmented. Wasn’t my favorite box by any means but still worth the money.

Aileen

Anyone interested in trading the highlighter palette for my Ofra? I can ship it out tomorrow with tracking! I’m on the swap site (I’ve never used it before) but for some reason it’s not letting me list anything, I’ve been in contact with Liz to fix it. Please contact me aileen343 at hotmail . Com

I couldn’t be happier with the shimmer veil! Beautiful color, easy to apply, a doesnt feel dry or flake. I haven’t tried my highlighter palette yet but I think I will try some as shadows also. I received the purple glitter, not really my thing, so up for swap with the eyeliner. Great value as always. I 💗 BC!

My Box came yesterday. Love everything but the OFRA palette. I would love to trade for the Naked highlighter. Please email me if interested I can ship today or whenever. Deonnayoung @ Gmail

I received this exact box and I’m so happy to get that blush! It’s perfect for winter paired with some bronzer. I’ m with Liz I am a little obsessed with that shimmer veil! For Valentine’s day, I did a burgundy eye and tapped a little of it on the center of my lid. It’s beautiful! I also added some over a boring nude lipstick and loved it, too.😊
