Cat Claws Club is a bi-monthly subscription box for cats filled with lots of toys, treats, and other surprises. (They just use whatever box will fit the items, so it varies from month to month, but it allows for some unusual item shapes, which can be fun!)
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Cat Claws Club February 2018 Review
This subscription is pretty heavy on the toys and is often, but not always, holiday-themed. This is also one of the only cat subscriptions where you get scratch pads regularly. Let’s see what was in the box this month:
There’s usually a booklet with more information on the items.
There was also a card asking you to share photos on social media.
Imperial Cat Shrimp Treats (1 oz) – Retail Value $6.99
In the past, my cats have not been enthusiastic about freeze-dried shrimp. But I spilled these on the floor by accident and Sneaky gobbled them up and wanted more. Angus also liked them. 2 out of 4 isn’t that bad (Mr. Kitty doesn’t count because he can’t have these).
Imperial Cat Racer Scratcher (black) – Retail Value $22.29
One of the reasons for the odd sizes and shapes of boxes with this subscription is that you’ll occasionally get scratchers. These are always in fun shapes and they’re pretty heavy-duty. They always come with a little packet of catnip, too. This is the kind of item I always wish I got more of in cat subscription boxes, so I (and my kitties) were happy to see this.
Heartstrings Refillable Catnip Toy – Retail Value $3.99
Refillable catnip toys are another mainstay of this subscription. My cats have gotten more interested in these lately, especially if I am deliberately messy about adding the catnip. Even Mr. Kitty seemed excited by this one.
Sisal Football Toy – Estimated Value $4.99
I couldn’t find this one online (most items from this subscription box come from the Cat Claws website, but this one didn’t or is out of stock) so the value is an estimate based on size. This is actually kind of heavy for a cat toy of this size, but Angus was definitely interested and Monkey liked the texture.
Marabou Streamer Cat Wand Toy – Estimated Value $3.48 (Buy 2 for $6.95)
I am a little confused about the description on the Cat Claws site for this toy. There is one wand with two streamers, but it is a little unclear if you get two wands or just one (the price is more in line with the value other boxes assign to one wand). Anyway, this was pretty awesome. Madison had a great time with it and so did Angus, and even Mr. Kitty showed a little interest.
Gratuitous cat photo time:
Angus sniffs the treat and then decides it’s totally worth eating.
Angus also enjoyed the wand. Kitty tongue in the bottom photo!
Madison with his new friend. Check out the teeth in photo 3 and the tongue in photo 4. He was totally licking and biting this.
Monkey hasn’t wanted to play much lately. I guess they go in cycles. Or he still misses the purple ribbon wand from Cat Lady Box.
Sneaky is happiest when she is eating.
Technically, this also counts as eating. Because that’s totally what she was doing with the catnip.
I think Mr. Kitty was annoyed with me for most of the photos.
But check it out, he is totally BITING the heart toy.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $41.74 for the February Cat Claws Club. This value exceeds the cost of the subscription plus shipping, which is great for a cat subscription. My cats liked everything, with the wand being the standout hit and the shrimp treats being enjoyed more than I expected. If you are afraid that a monthly cat subscription might lead to a little too much stuff for your kitty, this one could be a great choice since it is bi-monthly. (This is also a good choice for kitties with allergies – there are occasionally food items, but usually just one and not every month.)
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, Cat Claws Club ships once every other month. Your first box would be April's box if you signed up now. (But, a fair number of the items are available for individual purchase from CatClaws.com.)
Value Breakdown: At $33.90 for the subscription plus shipping, you are paying approximately the following per item:
- Shrimp treats $5.68
- Scratcher $18.10
- Refillable heart $3.24
- Football toy $4.05
- Wand $2.83
