The Cost: $31.49 a month + free shipping. They also offer a one-time purchase box for $34.99.

Good to know: Farm Momma will be continuing monthly boxes until April when boxes switch to quarterly boxes. The first quarterly box is expected to ship on April 15th. The pricing will be $94.47 a quarter when this change goes into effect. Farm Momma says this will allow them to send bigger goodies in bigger boxes and get out seasonal décor earlier.

Farm Momma January 2018 Review

The vibe of this box gives me so much pleasure. Farm Momma, Jess, prides herself on supporting small businesses with the items she chooses and takes great care in how she packages each item. This month she included a handwritten note a little card to write your goals, wishes, hopes and dreams for 2018.

Farm Momma Honey and Almond Soap packaged

Farm Momma Honey and Almond Soap

Farm Momma Honey and Almond Soap

This nice-sized bar of soap is a Farm Momma exclusive. The soap smells delicious of nutty almond and sweet honey. It lathers up well and wasn’t drying on my skin at all.

Southern Glory Goods & Co. Scented Tea Light packaged

Southern Glory Goods & Co. Scented Tea Light

Southern Glory Goods & Co. Scented Tea Light – Estimated Value $0.50

This tea light candle scent is called Mountain Lake. It’s a bit too masculine for my personal taste, but I tend to prefer fruity type household scents. If you prefer more rugged, outdoorsy scents this might be a big hit for you. I found the candle to be quite small and would have preferred something larger or at least more tea lights in the bag. I was delighted to discover this Etsy seller though, in addition to candles Southern Glory Goods & Co sells some very cool pouches, pillows and aprons on their site.

Hand Towel

I’m not sure what to say about this hand towel other than: no. Just no. This isn’t a farm house handmade item. This is a poorly made dollar store type towel that doesn’t belong in this typically thoughtful and carefully curated box. I was disappointed with this filler towel to say the least.

Relax Wooden Sign by Carpenter Farmhouse

Relax Wooden Sign by Carpenter Farmhouse letters

Relax Wooden Sign by Carpenter Farmhouse - Retail Value $8.00

This delicate laser-cut wooden sign was packed in a paper envelope and unfortunately arrived broken from transit. I reached out to Jessica from Farm Momma and she apologized profusely and is mailing me a replacement. Her customer service is top-notch and she responds to all emails in less than 24 hours.

Pink Sugar Bath Bomb by Squishy Mushii

Pink Sugar Bath Bomb by Squishy Mushii – Estimated Value $5.00

This particular pink sugar scented bath bomb is not for sale on the Squishy Mushii site so I am estimating the value based on the other bath bombs for sale by this seller. The bomb was fizzy, scented and smelled great. I enjoy taking baths and always find a nicely scented bath bomb a real treat so I love getting them in subscription boxes.

Verdict:  Farm Momma was a bit of a letdown this month. It didn’t contain nearly as many items as the December box and there didn’t seem to be anything of great value to be a real stand out item. This box costs $31.49 (free shipping to the US) and it is difficult to give it a value this month since so many items were difficult to find online or were exclusives such as the soap. I don’t feel that the value came close to the price though. While I love Farm Momma’s mission to highlight little known artisans and help small businesses grow and I love her attention to detail and customer service, I think the box needs to up its game to remain competitive in a highly saturated subscription box market.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the February box, which ships around the 15h!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $31.49 a month, which is an average of $6.30 per item for the 5 items I received this month.

**and please note, of there is EVER an issue with a box we always make it right. For those who mention a broken item… We always replace AND we have sent an extra goodies and our sincere apologies. It’s always better to let us know your issues than complain on a review site when something can be fixed.

First, to the one who commented that they purchased and cancelled within minutes. I am the one who labels for shopping and I’ve never seen your name not have we ever had someone purchase one box and cancel. For the one who commented that the quarterly box isn’t worth the money even though it’s the same price as the monthly boxes are together… First, top influencers on Instagram are loving it. We grouped over a hundred people and surveyed them on contents AND value and 93% loved it! Products are larger and well over the value of the box (100% cotton blankets, pillows not covers etc). And as for the monthly boxes… These boxes were made to showcase makers. You may not like the maker but one can’t hate on the box. The quarterly boxes sold out, reviews are amazing and subscribers are thrilled. No complaints what so ever. So personally, unless you have ACTUALLY purchased a box then review means nothing.

This box was a big waste of money. This was my first and last box. I cancelled my subscription within 5 minutes of opening this box. The only thing that didn’t look like it came from the dollar store was the soap.

Really don’t like the comparison going through my head with the kitchen-y country stuff but everything about this kind of reminds me of LLB and how they fell into a crevice and never recovered.

I sincerely hope this is a better box and no one will be disappointed.

I think this box will definitely benefit from being quarterly but nearly $100/box seems steep even if it’s actually the same price as vthe monthly over a year

I agree with your review and very disappointed. After January box, I canceled. The box had more sizzles than items. I was sadden by the box with its little value and My r on the relax was broke. I love the items she shares on her Facebook page people send her but farm momma has not put then in her boxes. Her chicken box at Christmas was great and would love the monthly boxes to be the same.
