GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually deluxe size or full size, and the value is usually good too.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

FYI: GlossyBox sends out multiple variations of the box during some months. So, there may be some variation between what I review and what you receive.

The Subscription Box: GLOSSYBOX

The Cost: $21 a month (save more with 6-month or annual subscription)

The Products: Deluxe and full-size beauty products.

Check out all of my GlossyBox reviews and the list of the best beauty and makeup subscription boxes!

Ships to: US and Canada

Each box comes with a fold-out card detailing the items included:

Now, on to the items!

John Masters Organics Geranium & Grapefruit Body Milk - 2 oz Retail Value $6.50

This lotion is super lightweight (it absorbs almost instantly), and provides a light amount of moisture. My favorite part is the scent - I love natural citrus scents, and this one is perfect.

John Masters Organics Geranium & Grapefruit Body Wash - 2 oz Retail Value $6.50

And we get a matching body wash! Again, the scent is fab and light!

Royal Apothic Scrubbie Exfoliating Lip Treatment - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $14

This lip scrub is made with natural sugars and it has a sweet, fruity flavor. It's a bit oily, too, so it will leave your lips moisturized even after you wipe it off.

Doucce Lip Definer Pencil in 471 - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $20

(FYI - subscribers will either receive a gloss, lip liner, or crayon from Doucce. Colors will vary.)

I lucked out with this color - the mauve is very close to my everyday lip color, just a little warmer. Here it is swatched:

The pigment is great and the pencil has a matte finish. The staying power isn't great, but usually, it isn't with lip liner pencils.

JJ Young Mud Mask Sheet - Retail Value $5

(FYI - Masks will vary)

This is not your typical sheet mask! It's a 3D mud mask - you remove the mud residue after the mask has dried (about 20 minutes). I like the idea, but after trying it, I realized a regular mud mask is more convenient for me because I can apply it just to the areas I want, and it's actually less messy than this mask!

Pick a Pinch Slant Tweezer - Retail Value Listed $20

(Subscribers will either receive a brush or tweezers.)

I'm always a bit skeptical of tweezers from brands I don't know, but these were pretty good. Not as good as my Tweezerman tweezers, but perfectly fine as a backup pair.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $72. I think the value is good, and I'll use most of the products in the box. It's not a bad box, but it's not as exciting as the January or December boxes in my opinion. (The John Masters Organics brand in this box was great, though!)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes!

Value Breakdown: At $21 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • John Masters Organics Set: $3.79
  • Royal Apothic: $4.08
  • Doucce: $5.83
  • Tweezers: $5.83
  • Mud Mask: $1.46

I received my box and I am happy. I was worried about the lip product and the tool. I received the white/clear lip gloss and a brush. I am relieved. I updated my profile that I prefer lip gloss and that is what I got. Today I went back through my profile and removed the lip items all together. I prefer not to receive lip items but if I had to choose it’s always gloss.

I have been with them for over a year. I have received 3 damaged/broken/defective products in 3 different boxes. I have sent them photos, countless emails since Nov. They said they’d replace them but none have been. Now I got an email saying I have to pay extra $13 in duties charge so I refused it. The box was sent back. Glossybox just said we don’t do refunds. Basically, it’s too bad and who cares was their attitude. I finally cancelled. Horrible customer service.

Crummy (or zero!) customer service seems to be a running theme for them. I’ve had problems and I know a lot of other folks have too :/

Amber

Sorry to hear but I’m not surprised. I should have cancelled earlier.

Has anyone else not recieved this box? I got tracking info on the 2nd saying it should have been here by the 9th but it doesn’t show any progress in shipping ☹️

Funny. I still didn’t receive mine. Tracking states in Shepperdsville KY since the 2nd.

I emailed them because my tracking was the same it never moved from the original location in KY. I just told them it appeared the box never left the warehouse and the were very quick to get me a new box shipped! This one actually left the warehouse! Lol 🙂

Love the actual box, not thrilled with the lip scrub but then I’m not a fan of lip scrubs. The lip liner feathered. The tweezers are ok but more a $4-5 value. Haven’t tried the rest yet but I am not really a fan of travel shampoo. I liked my Jan box. Fingers crossed for a good Mar box!

I received variation number 3 which included the glossy (non-plumping) , eye shadow blending brush, green tea and something mud sheet mask, lip scrub, lotion, shower gel.

The lip gloss is brown with a paint brush style applicator, it’s not bad, it is thick / gloppy, and the color is just not for me. This will be re-gifted for sure.

The mask is a hard pass. The mask itself is cumbersome and just too much work. It would be better off as a cream mask instead of a sheet mask. My skin did feel really soft after, but it was just too much of a hassle to use, and it dried super fast in some areas, and others didn’t dry at all.

The brush is a nice brush…but I received this in a box from Glossybox just within the past few months. soooooo yeah…that’s great :/

Contrary to a lot of comments I have read, I really like the lip scrub.

I have yet to try the shower gel and lotion, but I’m sure they will be fine. It’s hard to mess up soap and lotion unless is smells horrendous. Which this one didn’t, to me.

This was the last month of my subscription, and overall I have to say, this box did not make me want to resubscribe.

There is a spoiler on the info sheet, next month they will be sending out Cover FX Perfect Pencil Concealer in what looks to be 3 shades. They ask to update your beauty profile so they can send the best match (we’ll see though!)

I love everything about the packaging!

I received variation 3:
— JJ Young pore green tea mud sheet mask (green package)
— the apothic lip scrub (it’s sealed, you have to puncture it with the cap)
— john masters body wash geranium & grapefruit
— john masters body milk geranium & grapefruit (no seals or shrinkwrap on these 2)
— doucce gloss wear lip gloss in 767 (sparkly and bright coral)
— luxie 231 small tapered blending brush

Total value $63, lowest value box I have yet received, and even worse since I have (what feels like) 1000 blending brushes already and I’m definitely going to put this gloss up for swap.

I’m very disappointed in this box. 🙁

Mine is a little different than the one shown.
It came with the brush, instead of the tweezers. (Which I’m kinda happy about although either were not something I needed)
I received a lip gloss, that has no color, it’s clear, but it appears to have some shimmer.(again, not for me)
My mask was different as well, it is Pore Green Tea Mud Sheet Mask. (Will probably never use this)
The lip scrub is the same, as well as the Johnson Masters items.

Out of everything I will probably only use the brush.

I guess I was hoping for a little better since this was a “special” month because of the better box.

Oh well, hopefully next month will be better suited to my likes.

Crossing my fingers to receive the tweezers (need tweezers, not another brush), and lip liner or lipstick (don’t like goopy lip glosses in general). I’ll find out when my Feb box gets here by the beginning of March (if anything like last month’s delivery). Loved the contents of the Jan box once I got it.

With the exception of the John Masters items I have zero interest in this box. I only have this box and one more and I can be done with Glossybox. I really liked their December box and January was ok. This though… This is not a $72 box not even close, Maybe $20, me personally I wouldn’t pay over $15 for the box. This is my first February with all my subscriptions and I think next year I am going to try and skip as many of them as possible for this month. They like to throw in a bunch of lip products and I only wear lip balm. I was worried about too much red, but I forgot about lips and valentines day. I am surprised I didn’t see more bath bombs, bubble bath, or other relaxation items. Live and learn.
When you get crummy boxes you get a feeling of being taken advantage of. Like you just got scammed or something and that just makes you more mad. LOL

I have way too many doucce items to know it’s not good quality like other brands I know. Not saying their horrible, just saying I’m not a fan. I wanted to subscribe this month but with the full spoilers it’s just not super exciting for me personally and the variety is what I worry about

PREACH! I’m so sick of sub boxes trying to pass off doucce products as if they’re actually worth any money. I have yet to try anything from them that’s wowed me, and NOTHING that’s better than what I find at the drugstore.

I was so disappointed in my second box! I’m in touch with customer service to resolve, but my tool (brush or tweezer) was missing, there was a puncture in the lip scrub tube, and the Doucce plumping lipgloss was NEON coral and smelled like pure chemicals.

Reply ButtonReply

Christina Tomkiewicz

Oh my…I got that same neon orange/coral and I was like WHAT?!! Lol It looked like Halloween make-up. Then I went into my profile and noticed I put myself as “trendy”. Not my idea of trendy so I changed it to “classic” to avoid getting anymore horrendous colours. I did something wacky though. I put on this pretty pink lip crayon that I got in my Sephora Play bag and then put a light coat of that doucce orange/coral gloss over it and BAM!! It was really pretty and now I feel a little less slighted over Feb terrible box! Hopefully future boxes don’t disappoint or I’ll be cancelling.

This is not a very exciting Valentine’s Day box. That’s obviously the theme they were going with and you can get the apitherapy lip scrub on eBay for like a dollar something.

Belle

I LOVE the sheet mask. the 3-D paper structure gave me much more of a lift than a normal face mask. It almost felt like botox LOL

Box twinsies! I liked this box, value-wise. After this review I don’t think I’ll like the mask and might need to pass it along. I agree with you on the tweezers.

Reply ButtonReply

Aarjullor

I’m a box twin also. I like it, it’s a pretty good box overall. I’ll use just about everything in it. I’m still debating the mask—I’m a fan of sheet masks, but not mud masks. $21 for $73RV, I’m not mad at it.

Maggie

Here’s hoping there will be a sale soon. I’d like to get this box (the packaging is too cute).

Reply ButtonReply

Diana

Ha! I was just thinking, is it bad that I just want the box? 😂

Reply ButtonReply

Jeri

If they didn’t screw me the last two months (still havent received the refund they promised a month ago, I made it clear I wanted the money back instead they sent me 2 extra boxes… nice gesture but not what I wanted, especially since there was NO communication) I would’ve really liked this box too 😕
