February 2018 Loot Crate DX Protect Review

This month featured Black Panther, Overwatch, Wonder Woman, and Fallout.

It comes with a fold-out information card that details the items in your box.

Shield Pin - Value $5-10?

Loot Crate DX pins are bigger and better than the typical enamel pins – this month’s features a phoenix shield.

Overwatch Reinhardt Long-Sleeve Shirt - Value $20?

This month's wearable item is a long-sleeved shirt featuring Overwatch.

It features the Overwatch logo on the right arm and the lion crest from Reinhardt's gauntlet front and center.

Wonder Woman QFig - Value $29.95

Easily the best part of the box for me is the Wonder Woman QFig.

Wonder Woman comes riding in at almost 5 inches tall. QFigs are easily right on par with POPs for me - except I'd say that the QFigs are always perfectly painted and feel so well made.

It also features the movie outfit and version of Wonder Woman. QMx knocked it out of the park here.

Fallout Atom Cat Power Armor Coin Bank - Value $18-20 from previous review

You might remember seeing a very similar bank in the June 2017 ThinkGeek Box - this is very similar, but with an alternative paint job.

Like the other bank, it measures about 7×4.5 inches and is constructed of a softer plastic. I think I like this one over the patina version.

Black Panther Art Print - Value $10-15?

The final item is an art print from Grey Matter Art featuring Black Panther! It's the classic Black Panther, too!

This comes from the same artist as my favorite print from a subscription box - the Amazing Spider-Man print from the June 2017 Geek Fuel. This one is a bit smaller and one lesser cardstock - it's not nearly as thick.

Verdict: This month was decent for me - I absolutely love the QFig, the poster is nice but not the great quality when compared to similar posters, and the Fallout and Overwatch items are nice, but they've never been franchises that I follow closely. My values are around $95 for the $53 price tag - so the value is good. But, with quality over quantity, if you dislike one or two items, your value may drop pretty quickly. The good news - this one arrived on time for the first time in quite a while!

As a general word of caution - Loot Crate has been having numerous manufacturing delays across a number of their lines - it's something to beware of if you're trying to get a box on a schedule.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No – you can find the current month available at the top of their homepage. They are currently taking March subscriptions – every month’s cutoff date to order is the 19th of the month at midnight EST.
