My Japan Box Hello Kitty January 2018 Review
Hello Kitty Kimono Plush
The first item is a really nice quality Hello Kitty plush in which she's wearing a pink floral kimono! Her bow also matches the kimono's print and has some pink beads dangling from it. On the back, you'll see she is wearing the traditional obi (or sash) as well as matching pink geta (traditional footwear). I love how her hands are delicately placed on her front so you can see the sleeves of her kimono. She measures about eight inches tall and has embroidered black eyes, yellow nose, and "whiskers". The fabric of her body is ultra-soft too, so she's quite cuddly, even though her feet are stiff.
Hello Kitty Pasta, 150 g. - Retail Value $9.99
Oh, hell yea. I can't wait to make mac n cheese with this Hello Kitty and flower-shaped pasta! The bag is a decent size and probably makes about two servings (although I think that "4" on the package probably means 4 servings). But this is the United States, sooooo: two. 😉 Anyhow, I"m super into this being an item chosen to send to HK lovers everywhere.
Hello Kitty Pump Bottle
This pink plastic pump bottle is a good size for soap or lotion and has Hello Kitty and her friend Tiny Chum (yes, that is her real name) on the front. The quotes on the bottle in pink against the white polka dot and passport stamp pattern are cracking me up! One says "I loooove my nice pal Hello Kitty" while another says "Just being together is joy! Being friends is the best!". I concur, ladies.
Hello Kitty Terrycloth Headband
I always use a headband to keep my hair out of the way while washing my face, so I'm excited to get this really kawaii terrycloth version that I can toss in my travel case. The crisp white color is very spa-like but then has a red ribbon running throughout and a plush little Hello Kitty face on the front. It fits my tiny peanut head well without being too tight.
Hello Kitty Magnet Clips, Set of 2
I know this sounds lame, but I am excited about these magnetic clips. I am always snacking so I never have enough clips to keep chippies 'n such closed, and I also keep running out of magnets on my fridge. I can use these substantial Hello Kitty heads for either. I doubt I could hang a bag of chips FROM my fridge, but these will certainly hold up some cute photobooth pics of me and my girlfriends! Also- if they're stuck to the fridge, my cats can't get at them and play with them until they are lost under a piece of furniture.
Hello Kitty Stationery Set
As I've probably mentioned in other reviews, stationery sets like this were a standard for me in high school. Sanrio knows exactly what you need and gives you four envelopes, eight sheets of paper, and four cute stickers in an adorable red gingham motif with our girl playing with her toys. Each envelope has a little window where a toy from the back of the stationery will be shown through for a sweet little detail.
Hello Kitty Zipper Pouch
Just under eight inches across, this plastic bow-patterned pouch is purrrfect for a makeup bag! Because of the material, it also makes any makeup leaks easy to clean up. The pattern alternates many different things peeking from around each red bow (hamburgers, popcorn, envelopes, purses, friends, and HK herself) with quotes like "Good to be a girl!" and "What's in it for me?" sprinkled throughout. A sturdy red zipper keeps everything safely inside.
Hello Kitty Terrycloth Towel
I had a gander around the interwebs to try to find this but came up short. I suppose that makes me feel better knowing that it's hard to come by! I kept referring to this as a washcloth in my mind, but at over 13 inches squared it's quite a bit larger than an average American washcloth and therefore shall be dubbed a towel. You can tell the quality is really nice because of how soft it is and the detail that's put into it with the red piping and design. A perfect towel for travel, it has HK's friend Mimmy in a window on the top left declaring "I love ice cream" and Hello Kitty is on the bottom right window with a fishbowl. Her iconic red bow is embroidered, as well as the word "Kitty" underneath her.
Verdict: My Japan Box Hello Kitty subscription delivered quite a few different items to me straight from Japan. A could find a few of them on eBay but the prices were all over the place and you never really know what the quality will be like. I'm pretty confident that almost everything here is exclusive to Japan and tough to get my hands on otherwise. For $49.00 I received eight quality Hello Kitty items for my home.
