NaturAli Trimester 3 Pregnancy Box February 2018 Review
The booklet included began with some information on what mothers can expect during Trimester 3 of pregnancy. They provide nutritional information and also discuss some of the symptoms that you might experience at this time.
The booklet also gave some descriptions of what you can expect during each week of the third trimester which I always enjoy reading. Then it finished with some helpful tips and a letter from the founder of NaturAli. I found all of the information to be useful, but I really wish it detailed some of the items in the box and explained a little bit about why they were included, although some were self-explanatory!
Earth Mama Organics Third Trimester Tea- Retail Value $5.99 (found here for $7.78 with shipping)
FYI - This company has recently changed its packaging so a new box may not look like mine!
This organic third-trimester tea is meant to help support women in preparation for labor. The tea tasted like a mild peppermint tea to me and was pleasant to drink. The flavor was not too overwhelming though, which for some pregnancy mamas might be a good thing! For me, however, I like my tea a bit stronger.
They recommend 1-3 cups daily and it is only intended for use during the third trimester of pregnancy due to the ingredient Red Raspberry Leaf. Raspberry leaf tea can help to shorten the duration of labor as well as strengthen the uterine walls, but as with any herbal tea they recommend consulting your doctor about use during pregnancy.
Acure Fragrance-Free Ultra-Hydrating Body Lotion 8 oz.- Retail Value $8.99
If you are interested in purchasing this, they recently changed the name, packaging and also increased the size from 8 oz. to 12 oz. I could not find the cost of the original size, but since it is no longer available, I am valuing it at the price you would pay for the new version which is what is available now and looks like the picture below.
In case you aren’t familiar with Acure, they describe themselves as “a family owned and operated company founded on sustainable principles to provide the highest quality natural and certified organic personal care.” This lotion was very light but was true to its (original) name-my skin felt super soft and moisturized almost immediately. There was no fragrance at all (great for those mamas with odor sensitivities!) and there was no greasy residue. I was really pleased with this, especially since my skin is extremely dry at the moment.
NaturaAli Double Walled Stainless Steel Water Bottles, 17 oz - Retail Value $25
This water bottle looks just like a S’well bottle, but I couldn’t find any indication that it was actually from that brand. In any case, it is very similar in that it is vacuum insulated and can keep liquids cold for 24 hours or hot for 12. I have a 40 oz water bottle that I already use daily, but I was actually really happy to receive this 17 oz bottle. It is the perfect size to throw into my purse or diaper bag without adding too much weight or bulk. It kept my water cold throughout the day and I love the matte gray and subtle logo.
Organic Reverence Vanilla Lip Repair Butter, 0.5 oz - Retail Value $5
I am always happy to receive anything I can use on my dry lips! Especially now that my daughter has become obsessed with using my “chopstick” and has slowly diminished my stash! I had to soften this up a bit before applying and while I didn’t notice any immediate moisturizing effects, I definitely woke up with softer lips the next day. I like that it’s natural and the flavor was a very mild vanilla. They also included a coupon for 10% off on their website.
Organic Reverence Muscle & Flow Body Oil, 1 oz - Retail Value $12
This was the second product in the box from Organic Reverence. They are a family owned and operated company specializing in organic, therapeutic aromatherapy products for personal care. This really appealed to me since I try to pay attention to what I use during pregnancy and always opt for natural if I can. This oil is specifically for pregnancy to address aches pains and help with fluid retention. Fortunately, I don’t swell too much during pregnancy, but this was something pleasant to use for my lower back pain. It didn’t provide me with a ton of immediate relief, but it felt nice to have my husband rub it on me and the scent was not too overpowering as it can sometimes be with aromatherapy products. I mostly picked up the notes of lavender and cypress.
Rhythm Superfoods Kale Chips in Kool Ranch, 2 oz - Retail Value $5.89 (buy 4 for $20.16 here)
I had actually been wanting to try kale chips, so I was happy to see them in the box. While they didn’t necessarily satisfy my craving for Doritos, they were a nice alternative. Good flavor, a little bit of crunch, plus I got to feel healthy while eating them! I’d love to try these in some different flavors.
Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Brown Sugar & Maple Oatmeal Cup, 2.15 oz - Retail Value $2.49 (found here for $1.99)
All I have to say is Yum! I haven’t eaten oatmeal in awhile so this was a complete comfort food treat for me. I like my oatmeal on the thicker side so this was perfect, plus the subtle sweet flavor of maple and brown sugar was just right!
.RX Bar in Mixed Berry- 1 Bar - Estimated Value $1.75 (a box of 4 can be found here for $6.49)
I have been seeing these everywhere and have been wanting to try them. This probably wouldn’t have been my first flavor choice, but I enjoyed it. It was sort of like a really chewy strawberry fruit roll up with nuts in it. It has 12 grams of protein which is on the higher end of most bars.
Sesha Skin Therapy Botanical Hydro Mask 1 mask - Retail Value $9
I always love a good face mask! This one was a little goopy getting it out of the package and while my face did feel hydrated afterward, it also felt a little tacky to the touch. It wasn’t horrible, but I’ve had better. It was still a nice beauty treat.
NaturAli Belly Band Support Band - Retail Value $20
I have never owned a belly support band before even though this is my third pregnancy. A quick search told me that the cost could range from $12-$45, so this being from their own brand and having a tag in another language means the value is probably pretty on track with most others. I put this on (backward at first, as there are no instructions at all!) and I immediately felt relief. I didn’t realize how heavy my belly was until I put this support band on.This is probably my favorite item in the box and it’s something I never knew I needed until I tried it! The pink color is light which means it can be worn under any clothing and the band is adjustable to fit sizes small through large. That means you can really adjust it to get the support level you need. A great discovery!
NaturAli Fit Loop Band Kit - Retail Value $12
I saved the mysterious little black bag for last and when I opened it, I had no clue what it was. Once I saw that they read light through XX-Heavy, I figured they were some type of exercise band, but I had to visit the website to confirm. I love how compact these are and that they come in their own little bag for travel, but I really wish that they had some sort of insert to explain what they are and maybe even provide some ideas for exercises to use them in. I’m still pretty clueless as to how I will use these, but it’s nice to know I have them for when I get motivated to work out again!
Verdict: The total value for this box came to $108.11 which is only slightly higher than the cost of the $100 box. The variety of products definitely met the goal of providing a mix of beauty, fitness, nutrition and pregnancy products to support women in their third trimester. For me, the value was there because I discovered some new products that I might not have otherwise tried and found a few pleasant surprises like the water bottle, lotion and belly band. I am able to use everything in the box and I enjoyed that someone else put it all together for me. I could also see that for others who already have some of the items (like a water bottle that they use daily) or would rather pick out their own snacks that the value might not be there. I think that if you are able to take advantage of the package or subscription discounts that the savings could really make it worth it to have this box curated for you!
