Penny + Grace February 2018 Review
Here's the info card for the pack, which lists the products inside.
Bonus Item: Enamel Alpaca Pin - Estimated Value $10.00
Every Penny + Grace pack arrives inside a black canvas bag topped with a bonus pin. This month, it's this cute little word balloon! The pin is just about an inch wide, so it's a small statement piece, but fun and kind of comic-book-esque. I wish the enamel around the letters was a bit crisper—there's an A without a center and an O with a bubble in it—but that won't stop me from wearing it!
Stamped Je T'aime Necklace - Listed Value $22.00
According to my Instagram feed, pendants like this, stamped with handwriting-style messages, are very in right now, and with good reason. The handwritten script gives this simple, glossy gold pendant a fresh, laid-back twist. Because of its understated design, it'll go beautifully with everything from nice dresses and gray tees paired with jeans. An added bonus? Now I have this song stuck in my head:
P.S. The chain is about 17" long. It doesn't have an extender, but there are three loops spaced out along the last 3 inches of the chain so that you can pick where you'd like to set it.
Double Heart Lariat Necklace - Listed value $26.00
I don't think I've ever owned a lariat necklace before, and I definitely haven't seen one in this subscription! I think this is such a cool out-of-the-ordinary design for Penny + Grace that still stays true to their understated aesthetic. I love that the "loop" of the lariat is also a heart, so there's twice as much to love about this dainty gold necklace! End to end, the chain is about 17.5" long (not counting the charms themselves). There's a lobster claw clasp in the back, but you can adjust the length based on how far you pull the solid heart through the loop one.
Heart Bracelet - Retail Value $18.00
This is the simplest piece in the pack, but I love it for that reason. It's just a lightweight little heart sitting in the center of a slender gold chain. Perfect for date night, or just dressing up an everyday outfit. The chain is 7.5" long with three loops on the last 2 inches of chain that you can slip the clasp through. I'm wearing it on the middle one in the photo above.
The Verdict: I love the minimalist aesthetic of this jewelry subscription. I also know from experience that these pieces wear really well—they're not the kind of thing to turn your neck green in two seconds. This collection felt really sophisticated to me (especially for the price) as if these were all things you'd find in a boutique in a hip neighborhood. Not that previous boxes weren't awesome, but they have more of a kitschy, cutesy vibe to them most of the time. I feel like Penny + Grace has already started to step up their game for the new year, and I'm so excited to see where this subscription goes next!
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but sign up for their March pack now! Here's what Penny + Grace says on their site about timing:
Value Breakdown: The box was $19.99, and the estimated value of the featured items inside is $66.00. Add the bonus pin to that, which I estimate is worth about $10.00, and the value is about $76.00. That means the approximate, proportional amount that I paid for each item via this subscription is...
- Pin - $2.63
- Pendant necklace - $5.79
- Lariat necklace - $6.84
- Bracelet - $4.73
