Pier 1 Style Box Review

Liz Cadman

The Pier 1 Style Box is a new Limited Edition box from Pier 1. (Hopefully they turn this into a subscription soon!)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

How great is this packaging? It would be perfect for gifting, too.

And we have all the items snug in their laser cut foam:

The Box: Pier 1 Style Box

The Cost: $49.95 + $11 shipping

The Products:

  • Pink Champagne Candle: 3.25"Dia x 3.96"H , Burn time: 36 hours, See product labeling for complete cautionary information

This box comes with a card detailing the items included.

And there's a coupon for 20% off your next Pier 1 order - expires February 28th, 2018.

Now, on to the items!

2 Copper Stemless Wine Glasses - Retail Value $25.90 total

These gorgeous glasses are made from 8/8 stainless steel with a metallic copper-colored finish. They are about 4 inches tall. (The only downside for me is that they are handwash only, but they also work great as vases!)

Faux Mini Rose and Succulent Bundle - Retail Value $14.95

This faux floral bundle includes 10 individual, bendable stems.

And they look pretty perfect in one of the copper wine glasses:

So pretty!

Love Clip Photo Frame - Retail Value $6.95

(This measures 4"W x 0.50"D x 4.50"H.)

This is a perfect desk item for me. It's great for displaying (and easily changing) photos, but it works just as well for to-do lists, inspirational quotes/prints, etc.

Pier 1 also included a Galentine's Day worthy notecards to share with friends:

Cactus Glimmer Strings Flexible LED Lights - Retail Value $29.95

How cute are these little cacti? Each light is wrapped in a wire cactus with a flower topper!

The lights measure 10 feet long and run on 3 AA batteries.

Here is a closer look at the wiring detail:

And you can control these with an LED remote control if you like! (They are safe for indoors or covered outdoor use.)

Pink Champagne Candle - Retail Value $10.95

This candle has a light grapefruit scent - it's citrusy and bright, I love it! The frosted pink glass vessel is lovely, too. I'll be reusing this jar + lid once the candle is gone. (36 hour burn time.)

Verdict: What a fab box from Pier 1! I'm really hoping this one-time-purchase box was their way of testing the waters of starting a subscription box because I want this to be a monthly (or quarterly) thing. This box has a value of $88.70, which I think is good for a $49.95 home goods box where all the items were spoiled up front. Plus the packaging is great, and it comes with a coupon!

What do you think of the Pier 1 Style Box? Are you going to buy one?

LOVE this box!!! <3 But yes, they definitely need to offer free shipping on it.

Cute box and I would consider paying the $49 but not paying $11 shipping. Everything is very giftable.

That’s how I felt…so I used the free shipping code and it was well worth it for me.

Does anyone know if I can use my Pier 1 credit card to purchase this box? Thanks!

Kristen

Yes you sure can!

None if this particular box is my style (dislike cactus, copper, fake flowers, and pink) but lower the price and offer other styles – maybe.

Random question related to Liz’s comment about re-using the candle jar: does anyone have a good techniques for getting the last little but of wax out of a candle jar after the wick has burned completely? I’d really like to re-use some of my candle jars but I can’t think of a use that is ok if there is still that last layer of wax left.

I take a small pot, fill it about 1/2 full and boil water in it, then I put the candle in it for about 5 minutes—SET A TIMER! Wait for the wax to melt and simply pour it into something else. I make campfire starters out of the old remaining wax.

Don’t ask me how I know, but if you leave it on the stove for an hour it will boil the pot dry and the candle wax will catch on fire. If this happens, Don’t take it to the sink and run water on it: wax explodes, a fire ball rolls up your wall, cabinets, catches the curtains on fire. It’s then that you realize you threw your fire extinguisher out last week because it was expired. You end up burning your hands as you rip down the flaming curtains and douse them with dirty dish water. Your entire home is full of smoke, the dog is hiding under the bed and your ceiling is black with smoke damage. The ceiling fan and Tupperware will never be the same. But—you learn a valuable lesson. BURNING WAX EXPLODES WHEN MIXED WITH WATER.

You gave me a great laugh! Glad you and the dog are ok and you can laugh about the experience enough to share words of wisdom! 🙂

Jackie

You poor thing!! I’ve boiled pans dry, with and without food, so I can see them s happening! 🤗

Sally

Farrah, I’m so glad that you have a great sense of humor about this. I also think you taught a lot of people that wax explodes when hit by water.

Melissa

This is why I stick with the freezer! Lol!

LB

OH my….LOL.

Dea

Bless your heart Farrah! The worst I’ve done is fuse pot and rice together (hey, when you need to be in the bathroom, you NEED to be in the bathroom!)

Melissa

I put the candle jar in the freezer for a couple hours and then use a spoon or a butter knife (sometimes both) to carefully pop out the hardened wax. Good luck!

I have these glasses! They were on sale – I wouldn’t pay almost 30 dollars for them because they scratch up easily. BUT – they are my favorite glasses. I plan to replace them when they get scratched up too much.

If this was to become a sub box it would be a good one. Pier 1 has mostly decor items what I would like to see more of and they can blend with most styles. The price of the box is too high for me but if they lower the price and increase contents of box who knows.

Cynm

I think it is super cute but overpriced. I would not buy it at this price.

Teresa

I agree. There should be more value for the price point.

Beccah

Yeah. I think they could do so much more for $50 a box. It definitely is not worth it at this point. Hopefully they lower the price or add some more items.

Julie

Is this box with the item’s in the review still available for purchase, or would htere be a new box? So cute.

I got this and I’m really happy with it. I put my floral bundle in the PSMH heart vase from Feb. I was surprised how big the box was and how nicely everything was packed in the foam! I couldn’t bring myself to throw out the box…it’s definitely going to get used to store something (and alot of it…haha).

I was hoping this was a new sub! Looks great. If it’d be $40 they’d be able to grab a few psmh clients.

Danielle

Agree 100% I would definitely not think twice about signing up for a $40 pier one sub to replace popsugar ( still kind of bummed about this whole quarterly thing)

Jeanette

I agree with the price suggestion. I think it is beautifully curated but if it was 39.95 I would have been very tempted and 29.95 would have been a definite yes.
