This month’s theme is “Feel The Love.” Now, on to the items!

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color in Rose Gold - 1 g Value $17.68

This ia great, DELUXE sized sample! (The full-size version is 1.64 g compared to this 1 g.)

I love how smoothly this eye crayon glides on. It's super shimmery, and the champagne color works well on my skin tone. It's easy to blend before it sets, too.

(Swatched in lower photo.)

Sephora Collection Rouge Matte in Rebel Chic - 1 g Value $4.42

This lipstick got a little smushed in shipping, but it still works!

This looks like a dark red in the tube, but looks more like a rich berry on my lips. The pigment and the matte finish are great, too. One word of caution, though, I didn't find this to be super long lasting - you'll have to reapply throughout the day.

(Swatched below.)

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Let's Go Crazy - 1.8 g Value $20.25

Another DELUXE sized sample! (The full-size version is 2.4 g.) This lip crayon goes on smoothly, the pigment is great, and the matte formula didn't dry out my lips. The color is pretty bold for me, but I found that I could smudge it a bit after applying I could get more of a subtle, lip stain look. (I recommend trying that if you are intimidated by this color like I was.)

Here it is swatched beneath the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick and the Sephora Lipstick:

Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb - 5 ml Value $9.60

This is an ingredient-conscious formula designed to smooth fine lines and boost moisture and skin elasticity.

When I applied it I was so impressed with how soothing it felt. This is a gentle and hydrating eye cream that still absorbs quickly enough to make it a great makeup base. I love this and I'll use every last drop of this sample1

Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm - 12 ml Value $4.53

A Farmacy product I haven't tried yet! And no surprise, it's amazing!

This balm melts into your skin, removes ALL makeup, feels fantastic, and the formula is ingredient-conscious, too. Plus, when you remove it, your skin is moisturized and softer! (I like this so much I will probably buy it in full size. It's the best makeup remover balm I've ever sampled!)

Chloe Signature - 1.2 ml Value $3

I'm not a perfume wearer, and this powdery floral scent isn't for me, but I have to say, I think the Chloe perfume bottle is SO pretty!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $59.48. I think that's great for a $10 beauty box, especially since the box will always include high-end brands. Plus the sample sizes were great this month! And I discovered a new Farmacy product to love 🙂 (The only thing that seemed a bit weird to me was getting two matte lip products in one box.)

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. You have to sign up by the 15th to receive that month's box, so as of today (2/22), your first box will be the March box.

Coupon – No coupons available for this subscription.

Value Breakdown: At $10 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Laura Mercier: $2.97
  • Sephora: $.74
  • NARS: $3.40
  • Belif: $1.61
  • Farmacy: $.76
  • Chloe: $.50

I don’t have an issue with quality or quantity of products. This is my 5th box and possibly my last.
My issue is that products don’t seem to paired to your preferences and there is no way (that I can see) to leave a review without actually purchasing full size item.
I am a 40 year old, olived skin mother and teacher, and I have no need for Hot Pink anything or shimmer (Not clubbing any time soon).
I have other subscriptions, and almost always I have a chance of leaving feedback (don’t send this again, I’m good on eye shadow for now, etc).

Sephora will be canceled by allot of people if they don’t stay on top of it. When you hear sephora box goog expect a lot. Well,. My lipstick was broken, the perfume was horrible, and the repeat Laura Mercier was my breaking my point. Done.

I’m just kind of over the Laura Mercier eye shadow sticks. I now have two rose gold ones that I got from this subscription. I’m kinda wanting to cancel but I know as soon as I do they’ll step it up or something and I’ll regret it! I wish they would send a little more variety through the year. They repeat a lot it seems. It’s not like they don’t have the brand power to get different samples.

I’m long time follower but I no longer feel reviews are unbiased. That Sephora lipstick was so dry in the lips I threw it away immediately. Not sure how the moisturizing matte was experienced.

Hi Bridget,

I’m really sorry. I didn’t find it to be drying at all, but now I’m wondering if maybe my lips were already moisturized from a lip balm and I might have found the product to be drying otherwise. I’ll take out the word moisturizing – I don’t want to mislead anyone.

I usually like the Playbox and had my doubts about the red lipstick. When it came, I actually liked it but it was completely broken off at the bottom:(. Bummer. I notice others had issues as well; do you think they will replace it if I call?

DeeBeeTee

I received two Sephora lipsticks (a matte berry and a red lipstain), neither of which I liked. Also received a Lancome mascara , first aid beauty mask and the belief eye bomb. I was truly disappointed (with the makeup items), that I finally cancelled my subscription.

I felt the same way as DeeBeeTee. I canceled my box as soon as I opened that box. I don’t wear red or berry colors often. I have had enough of the sephora or make up forever red lipsticks or lip stains. So sad that I use to love their boxes. Oh well. On to a new beauty box with someone else.

I received the same things and I am seriously considering cancelling too. I hate red lipstick and they always seem to send it to me if it is a option that month.

My Sephora lippie was smushed too; looks to be a trend. I’m guessing they had a batch that didn’t pass quality so they are sending them in the sub box. I’ll let them know via customer support; they usually offer some Sephora points.

I called Sephora about the broken lipstick and they gave me a $5 store credit and said they were aware of the issue, fyi. I’m loving the play box but I do wish the nars was a more neutral color. I can’t do fushia. Nars is a great brand to get in a sub!

I honestly wouldn’t have minded this box, but I have 185 that is still coming in the mail. Hopefully I’ll get it soon! I cannot wait.

Also, does anyone still receive emails for sephora play dates? Is it still happening? I haven’t received an email to participate in one of those for forever, and I wanted to try and finally go to one.

This is almost identical to Box #144, wxcwpt it subs in the Nars for the Fresh balm.

Actually would have preferred it; I have a total of FOUR Fresh Rose lip balms now.

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

As much as I love the Fresh balms, the Nars is wonderful! I got the Nars lipstick last month too, loving it!

I got everything u got except I got the peter Thomas Roth product instead of farmacy . I’m seriously sick of lipsticks I could scream! Lol I have so many from Sephora play it’s crazy! But I really like the skincare, and perfume samples , so it really is a toss up but I just want just one lip gloss lol

Julie

This is my box and I’m really happy with it! I love the bold lip colors! I’m always getting the nude, wishing I got the bold color!

Reply ButtonReply

Mel

We received the same box. That’s a first. My Sephora lipstick was also smooshed, and is loose in the tube. It’s a really pretty color, though. I’m not loving the NARS, but the other three items are amazing! I now have three caviar sticks, and absolutely love them. The farmacy balm is awesome. I’m going to buy the full size.

Correction I got the PTR gel. I was confusing it with the Allure box. I’m thinking about cancelling and res-ubing to Sephora to maybe vary the box

I did not love my box this month. I got the Youth to the People which was good but this box was kind of a fail this month for me.

Sarah

I was so hoping i would receive the laura mercier eye stick, but unfortunately i did not. If anyone is interested in trading theirs for one of my products (i got box 222) i would love to trade.

Ash_Kay

I got 185, so I am happy to try the eye cream, tough it’s not the most crucial to use, for me at least.

Also, does anyone know if the Sephora Playdates still happen? I’ve never been able to go to one, but I haven’t received those emails in forever. Anyone still receiving those emails?

Megan

I was shocked with how much I loved my perfume sample (the vanilla insensee). I was so tempted to purchase a full-size bottle, but just can’t bring myself to splurge on it quite yet. But it’s definitely on my mind for the future.

I just couldn’t get myself to love that NARS color (same one). It wasn’t for me at all.
For my first Play! box, I wasn’t overly impressed- the two lip products were a definite miss for me. I’m hoping March will be much much better.

Casey

I’m really digging that NARS color. Would you be interested in swapping?

Reply ButtonReply

Lia

I haven’t received my box but I am hoping I would get those samples – lovely!!!

Marilyn

I have box 144, so the only difference is a sugar lip balm instead of the Nars lipstick. Overall, very happy with it.

Last year I collected all the unwanted perfume samples and gave them to a local charity that runs a “Christmas store” where kids of low income families “buy” gifts for their parents. Perfumes are a requested, popular item. I’m not much for scents, so its nice to have a good recycling center to unload my stash. This month’s sample will go there.

Rugby

Where is this center located. I would love to donate my stuff to them

Thank you Liz. I got those two lip colors and thought they might be too bold for me. I will happily try them now that I see them sampled. I just have to get over my cold first!
