Sun Basket offers two menu options: the Classic Plan (3 "inspired, farm-to-table recipes" for 2 or 4 people per week) for $11.99 per serving, and the Family Plan (2 or 4 "family friendly meals that kids will love" for 4 people per week) at $10.99 per serving. The Family Plan was co-created by Tyler Florence from Food Network!
Within each plan, there are options for vegetarians, paleo eaters, gluten-free diets, and even breakfast-lovers (Classic Plan only). According to the Sun Basket FAQs, these are the options for the Classic Plan, I will be reviewing the Mediterranean option.
Classic Menu Meal Plans:
Chef's Choice: Chef Justine's favorite recipes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Paleo: Quick, low-carb recipes designed for the Paleo diet, featuring fresh seasonal produce and sustainably sourced meats and seafood.
Lean & Clean: Gluten and Dairy-free meals, each about 550 calories per serving
Gluten Free: Inspired gluten-free recipes featuring fresh, seasonal produce, sustainably sourced meats and seafood, plus healthy gluten-free grains. Please note, Sun Basket meals are prepared in a facility that handles wheat, and while the Gluten Free meal plan follows a gluten-free diet, due to risk of cross-contamination, meals are not suitable for people with severe gluten intolerance.
Vegetarian: Delicious, meatless recipes with an emphasis on seasonal produce and nutritious plant-based proteins.
Meditteranean: Seasonal produce, lean meat, and seafood paired with whole grains, healthy fats, and fresh herbs.
Vegan: Meatless recipes with seasonal organic produce, plant-based proteins, and Sun Basket's house-made signature sauces.
Pescatarian: Organic produce combined with sustainably sourced seafood.
Regardless of the plan you choose, you can always log into your Sun Basket account and hand-pick what meals you'd like to receive. If you don't go in and curate things for yourself, Sun Basket will just choose meals for you based on your plan/preferences. Keep in mind that folks with special diets will always have more limited options. For example, there will always be at least 3 or 4 vegetarian options on the menu, but that's it—there's not a lot to go in and choose between.

Sun Basket Classic Menu, Mediterranean box, January 2018 Review
This month’s recipe guide has a slightly new format, and a cool intro to my plan choice, the Mediterranean plan. I love all the veggies and the wide variety of fish options.
Meal #1: Spicy Roasted Shrimp with Braising Greens andAjoo Blanco Sauce
Calories per serving: 600
Time to prepare according to SunBasket: 30-45 minutes
Actual time to prepare: 20 minutes
This was so good and I loooved how pretty the recipe picture was! I’m not sure mine turned out exactly as well, but this tasted so great. The rainbow chard I received was absolutely delicious, and, as usual, I pushed myself a little bit with the Urfa chile flakes and I’m glad I didn’t back down on spice. The recipe called for me to roast the shrimp, but I knew they would cook super-fast in the pan, so I opted for that and this meal came together really quickly. I had never had Ajo Blanco sauce before and it was interesting! It had a garlicky flavor that enhanced everything else on the plate but didn’t overwhelm it, and the sweetness of the apple rounded out the whole dish.
Recipe #2: Hawaiian Tuna Bowls with Brown Rice and Nori
Calories per serving: 550
Time to prepare according to SunBasket: 25-40 minutes
Actual time to prepare: 35 minutes
I REALLY loved this recipe. It was so, so easy; the perfect meal for a weeknight. The only snag was the rice - it seemed like it took a really long time to cook, but that was almost a good thing because I was more than able to get the rest of the meal put together by the time it was ready. I thought the tuna was nice and fresh, and the veggies added a satisfying crunch to the dish. The nori was my favorite part, though - it added an earthiness to the dish and a punch of umami that really took it over the top!
Recipe #3: Pan-Seared Steaks with Chimichurri and Citrus-Walnut Salad
Calories per serving: 690
Time to prepare according to SunBasket: 25-40 minutes
Actual time to prepare: 20 minutes
At first, I thought the chimichurri sauce was missing from this recipe when I realized - I was going to make it myself! The steaks were nice and tender, and I liked the cinnamon dressing a lot. This recipe called for chicory lettuce, and I received radicchio, which made the salad a real stunner, color-wise. This recipe took absolutely no time at all; I made up the chimichurri right before I put the steaks on, chopped the radicchio while the steaks seared, then put the rest of the salad together while the meat rested.
Verdict: Getting a Sun Basket is always a bright spot in the month for me. Everything is always so fresh, and I loved these new Mediterranean recipes. I actually made the shrimp and the tuna bowls for lunch this week, and it gave both my husband and me a nice amount of energy during the day. He loved the tuna bowl, so I’m definitely going to be on the lookout for similar recipes to try for him to enjoy. As always, Sun Basket’s packaging was smart and convenient, and the box was easy to recycle. The value of this box is definitely on par with other popular subscriptions (Plated, Blue Apron, etc), and Sun Basket has all kinds of upgrades and add-ons to completely customize the meal-making experience.
