The Bookish Box is a book-inspired subscription box from the online shop, Appraising Pages.
Originally, The Bookish Box was a subscription box filled with bookish objects only—no actual books involved. Recently, though, they changed up their game and added several subscription varieties to choose from, including one that does have a book inside!
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
This review is of the Women's Sized box that includes a t-shirt for $29.99 a month.

The Bookish Box Subscription Box "Galactic Adventures" January 2018 Review
Here's the info card for this month's box with the products all listed out. Note that we got the t-shirt, but none of the other additional upgrades.
Calendar Kit
This desk calendar includes a small, lightweight wooden easel and index-card-sized calendar cards decorated with colorful, jewel-toned illustrations. I've gotten similar desk calendars in subscription boxes before, but this is the first one that's only come with two month's worth of cards (just January and February). They're pretty tributes to Six of Crows and A Wrinkle in Time, but I wish there were more! I'm going to be done with this calendar and left with just a tiny easel so soon!
Galactic Necklace
Aw, I like this simple necklace a lot. I'm big into moon and star shapes, so this pendant (I guess it's really more of a bead) is right up my alley. It's barely as big as my thumbnail, so it's tiny. I feel like it'll look really cute layered with other dainty necklaces.
Lunar Chronicles Tote Bag
I love tote bags, especially ones that are on the sturdy side like this one is. The design is really pretty and has a sketchy, celestial vibe. (According to the info card, it's an illustration by artist Evie Seo.) I feel like this would be great for taking books to and from the library.
Star Wars Bookmark
This bookmark was designed by Dust & Pages. I really love galaxy patterns like the ones on this bookmark, with their watercolor-like purple, blue, and turquoise clouds. The round, playful script is cute, too. Did you catch that the one side is written in Yoda-style grammar?
Firefly Magnet
This magnet is like a bigger button-style pin, but with a magnet backing. The colors are great, and who doesn't love a Firefly reference? I can't wait to stick this sassy magnet to my fridge. It's got a nice bit of stick to it, too, so I can use it to hang photos or papers.
Star Wars Shirt
I love the staying on this soft, 100% cotton tee. The cut is the perfect midpoint between a unisex tee and a traditional "women's" cut tee. I'm used to women's tees having super short cap-sleeves and tight silhouettes, neither of which are all that flattering to my lady body. But this top has a bit more structure (and slightly longer sleeves) that are comfortable but give me more of the look I want. My only gripe is that the big X through the quote makes it a little hard to read. But it'll be fun to wear with jeans/under big long cardigans through the rest of the winter.
Monthly Theme Doodle
Lastly, there's a black and white illustration that's been designed to fit the theme of the month. You're supposed to color it in and share it for a chance to win a free box. I think that's a cute idea to grow the Bookish Box community! This new addition to the box reminds me a lot of the Nerdy Post monthly coloring postcard.
The Verdict: I liked this month's The Bookish Box, though I wish the calendar came with more pieces to it! A few of the items were Star Wars/Firefly focused, so if you're looking for a strictly book-inspired box, this might not be one for you. I do really appreciate that the art in the box was all done by smaller indie artists so that you're getting something unique (and supporting up-and-comers!).
