Yogi Surprise February 2018 Review
This month's box has a self-love theme. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, we're encouraged to incorporating practices into our lives that invite joy in. On the reverse side of this card is a list of the items you'll find in your box.
Each month there is a Yogi Surprise Sequence included. This month's sequence features a variety of poses that are chest-opening; heart-opening.
Usually, you'll find a card advertising a monthly yoga retreat giveaway, as well as a spoiler for the next month's box, but that card wasn't included this time around! So, to the contents of this month's box we go...
The Massage Bible by Susan Mumford — Retail Value $14.00 (Found here for $8.67)
This awesome book is something I never would've thought to buy for myself, but now that I have it in my possession, I'm so happy I do! Everybody loves receiving massages and I myself am never one to turn down a little shoulder loosening or face rub from my husband or a friend. But, I also love to be able to return the favor, and while my hands aren't very strong (I often end up using my elbows!), I think great technique has the potential of totally making up for that. I imagine even Yogi Surprise subscribers who aren't interested in learning massage techniques for themselves know at least one person who is, in which case this book would make a great gift.
KAILO Heart Essence Roll-On Essential Oil, 10 ml – Retail Value $42.00
I received this same roll-on oil, even in the same scent, in my BuddhiBox Essential Oils box this month, so now I have an extra for gifting! KAILO’s aromatherapeutic products are chakra-themed, and, fitting for this holiday of love, this one is a dedication to the heart chakra. It’s a vibrant blend of jojoba, bergamot, palmarosa, lavender, lemon, and geranium essential oils—all organic—and I love this blurb from the KAILO website:
Combined with organic essential oils and energetic/vibrational infusions, this Essence will restore balance to the heart chakra, leaving you feeling full of love and compassion for self and others, peaceful, and empathetic.
This one must be a little leaky 'cause the box it came in arrived a little stained. So, I'd be careful before throwing this one into a purse or bag.
Also included in the box is a 15% discount code to KAILO, where this oil is from!
Balanced Guru Matcha Tea Scrub, 4 oz. — Listed Value $16.00 (Buy an 8 oz. tub for $29.99)
If you love the smell of matcha tea, you'll love the scent of this scrub! It's a sugar-based scrub meant to exfoliate skin, and it's a little drier than other sugar scrubs I've seen (and made)...I wonder if that means it'll last longer before becoming mildewy. I have a hard time using sugar scrubs by their expiration date—actually, they don't always have one, I just notice they start to smell a little funky—because I don't shower every day, and even then I don't exfoliate in every shower. I think it's a refreshing hygiene routine, but sometimes it feels a little harsh on my skin. I'm looking forward to incorporating this one into my supply of organic soaps!
Energy Muse Self-Love Stones — Listed Value $20.00
It's always nice receiving crystals and stones in boxes because I often find myself overwhelmed in the stone section of culture shops and end up leaving with nothing. The Energy Muse website is very thorough and gives you tons of info about, well, almost anything you might be seeking regarding different types of energies and crystals! For example, here's the info they give on love. I also linked to that page above because I couldn't find this particular set of self-love stones on their expansive site. But, rose quartz is a classic love-themed stone, aventurine is often associated with the heart chakra, and rhodonite (which is new to me) is associated with compassion. The three together are just beautiful. As with some of the other items in this month's box, these are just as lovely to hang onto and keep in your pocket as they are to give as a gift—for Valentine's Day or otherwise.
Lake Champlain Organic Dark Chocolate Hearts, 3 count — Listed Value $3 (Buy a 5.9 oz. bag for $13.75)
Whether or not you're in a relationship this Valentine's Day, I think we can all agree it's a holiday for indulging in chocolate. These three little candies are a fun nod to the holiday, and I love love love dark chocolate, so I gobbled them right up!
From Molly With Love Glow Juice Face Cream, 2 fl. oz. — Retail Value $27.99
Finally, this simple, high-quality face cream. This product is made with organic aloe, omega 3 & 6-enriched oils, white willow bark, and antioxidant-packed raspberry, blueberry, and raspberry extracts. Its smell is light and fresh, and it's nice and thick without being too heavy. I'm currently in the middle of a jar of face cream, but this one will be next in line for me!
The Verdict: I'm really happy with the gifts I received from the February Yogi Surprise! As always, the items are high-quality and thoughtful. The biggest surprise for me was the Massage Bible, which I'm really excited about, and I can't wait to put some of my new tricks to work on my loved ones!
