BohoBabe March 2018 Review
I was welcomed into the BohoBabe fam with this lovely Thank You card, the reverse side of which includes a packing list with listed values. I couldn't wait to dig in!
AstaMani Crystal-Infused Strength Roll-On Perfume — Retail Value $12.00
First on the list is this roll-on perfume, filled with small amethyst and frankincense crystals. The way they glide through the liquid remind me of those pens with moving parts that you'd find at a tourist attraction! The scent of this perfume is very cinnamon-y (and I think I can detect clove in there, too), which I know is a good essential oils blend for fending off colds. It doesn't say anywhere in the box that this is an essential oil blend, and I do wish there were ingredients listed on the bottle, but I found a lot more info on the Asta Mani Etsy page! Such as, that it's a blend of orange, clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus, rosemary oils (among others) and that you should shake the bottle before using. I appreciated that it was wrapped with a fun piece of washi tape to avoid potential leaks!
AstaMani Apatite Gemstone Stud Earrings — Listed Value $20.00
These little stud earrings are so cute! I couldn't find the exact ones on the Asta Mani Etsy page, so I linked to similar ones. The prices of her earrings vary a bit, I'm assuming based on what stone is used. They look a little blue-ish in the photos here, but in person, they struck me as a hint more green-ish. For as many long, feathery, fringey pairs of boho earrings I own, I don't think I own a single pair of studs that aren't simple and polished, so I'm excited to welcome these hippie-ish posts into my jewelry collection.
How sweet is this? The maker behind Asta Mani included a business card with a cute polka-dotted hair tie wrapped around it. What a nice little bonus gift to receive!
Gardenmis Lavender Eye Pillow — Retail Value $20.00
What a coincidence, this is the second eye pillow I've received in a subscription box this month, making the first two I own! This one differs from the other one I received in that it's filled with lavender and flax seeds, so not only does it use natural materials, it smells so very lovely. The inspirational quote printed on top is a nice touch. The fineness of the filling makes it sit really nicely against the contours of your closed eyes, and the weight truly is relaxing. I can't wait to use this for final savasana next time I do yoga at home! By the way, I couldn't find this exact design on the Gardenmis Etsy page, so I linked to another design that I like. I wonder if it was custom made for this box what with its fittingly on-theme "strength" quote!
BohoBabe Mind Over Matter Muscle Tee — Estimated Value $39.00 (linked to similar)
This top would be great for yoga, too! It's soft and light, and its muscle tee fit is a little looser than another cut might be, which I like for yoga. I find that when I wear skin-tight tank tops during my practice, they often ride up and leave me tugging at them instead of focusing on my breath. Of course, you don't have to wear it for yoga! It's a nice casual shirt for anytime. I couldn't find this exact top on the BohoBabe site, so I linked to another one with the same cut.
Mandalas by Ariell Handpainted Elephant Mug — Estimated Value $15.00 (link to similar)
As you may have spotted in a photo toward the top of this review, this mug didn't arrive squeezed into the regular BohoBabe box! Both the BohoBabe box and the mug (which was protected with bubble wrap) came together in a larger shipping box this month. I linked to a similar design from the Mandalas by Ariell website. I was so delighted to learn that she hand-paints all her mug designs! Taking a closer look at the mug itself, it doesn't seem like she painted directly onto it; maybe she painted the image on another medium, then had it printed onto the mug. It's a really pretty color, too!
Also included was a Mandalas by Ariell business card, including ways to find her on social media.
Bonus: Mantra Yoga + Health Magazine — Estimated Value $3.00
I thought it was funny that the BohoBabe packing list indicated that this magazine is a bonus because it's a substantial item to include and because there are other bonuses in this box! I'll be honest, I was a little overwhelmed by the burst of color and information when I opened this magazine, but it's really cool and has a ton of awesome content. There are tons of great, healthy recipes, some fun travel articles, and even the ads are beautiful. When flipping through, I noticed that half the pages are upside-down, which led me to realize it's like two magazines in one and you can open it up from either end. That was cool!
Bonus: Gold-Dipped Feather — Estimated Value $1.00
Here's another bonus! This gold-dipped feather is such a fun treat. I often stick feathers in the soil of my potted plants, and this one went right into a succulent pot as soon as I unpacked it. So now I get to look at it every time I glance over at my plant-filled windowsill!
The Verdict: I really enjoyed exploring my first ever BohoBabe box! I absolutely love that the contents are sourced from small businesses, and you can see the passion behind what each maker creates when you visit their Etsy pages. I also love that every item is something you can wear or use actively, and not just knickknacks that will sit around looking pretty. I give the BohoBabe box two thumbs up! Value wise, I calculated the contents of this box (including the bonus magazine and feather, but not the hair tie) adding up to about $110. For a $39.99 box (+ shipping), that's a great deal.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the April box. Sign up before the 25th to get the next month’s box! All orders processed after the 10th will ship the following month.
Value Breakdown: I paid $39.99 + shipping for my BohoBabe box, and inside of it came 6 items (not including the feather or hair tie). That breaks down to approximately $6.67 per item.
