Bombay & Cedar "Flourish" Box Review March 2018
This booklet came with the box. Inside, there are brand spotlights as well as helpful hints, like a page of natural remedies for allergy sufferers. (This allergy-laden gal is excited to try these tips!)
There's also a typical info card, which features the product list for the box.
Bombay and Cedar Breathe Easy Essential Oil Blend, 10 ml - Listed Value $17.00
Bombay and Cedar Spring Bliss Essential Oil Blend, 10 ml - Listed Value $17.00
Each box comes with two new proprietary, 100% pure essential oil blends. I noticed that the listed value for each bottle was a few dollars higher than the bottles from last month. Each blend comes with a card explaining what makes it special.
I was ready for Spring Bliss to be an explosion of florals, but the aroma is lead by some seriously delicious citrus scents. It smelled almost like a freshly baked lemon square (which I LOVE). It fills the air with cheer and a refreshing, peaceful sweetness. The second bottle is full of fragrances to soothe and invigorate your sinuses, such as eucalyptus and peppermint. I feel like a drop or two of that oil in a bathtub, and I'd have an instant spa.
Lesser Evil Himalayan Pink Popcorn, 0.88 oz. - Retail Value $1.39, Listed Value $1.09 (Found here for $1.09)
Yum! I love popcorn (it's just such a light, simple treat), and I know from experience that this brand is both tasty and wholesome. It's vegan, organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, and made with whole grains. There's just enough salt for my liking (i.e.: not so much that I feel like I'm at the movies), and the kernels have a delightful crunch to them. According to the info card, subscribers will either get this version or the "Himalayan Gold" flavor, which is made with coconut oil but tastes like traditional butter popcorn!
Write Now Eco Journal - Retail Value $15.95, Listed Value $6.95
I love the feeling of a crisp, new journal. To be honest, I'm not wild about the butterfly designs on this 5"x 8" journal (for whatever reason, butterflies were never quite my thing), but the colors are super pretty and I like the texture of the cover. (It feels a bit like a painter's canvas.) There are pretty pages scattered throughout the journal, adding color and inspiration between the lined sheets. It's certainly springy! This is one of four variations subscribers may have received.
Terre Mere Rosehip and Hibiscus Anti-Stress Night Cream, 1.7 oz. - Retail Value $112.00, Listed Value $112.00
Wow, with that price tag, I can tell I'm getting a really high-quality product! This organic, vegan, cruelty-free night cream uses the essential fatty acids in rosehip oil to replenish skin, while the nutrients in hibiscus extract firm and moisturize. It's been awhile since I've had a solid night cream routine, so I'm excited to get back on the wagon with this dreamy, thick cream.
Candle Warmers, Etc. Pluggable Fragrance Warmer - Retail Value $9.99, Listed Value $10.00
Including the plug section, this fragrance warmer measures about 5.5" tall and 2.75" wide. The exterior element seems to be made of ceramic, which heats up when plugged in. On the top, there's a shallow dish in which to drop wax melts that release their aroma as they warm up. I love the simplicity of the design and the fact that there's less fire worry than with a candle. I just have to be careful of which plug I use this with so that the cats don't get it! This design is called "Serenity", but subscribers may have also gotten a design called "Honeycomb Turquoise".
Candle Warmers, Etc. Vanilla Pear Wax Melts, 2.5 oz. - Retail Value $2.99, Listed Value $3.00 (Found here for $1.49)
Mmm, these wax melts have such a pretty fragrance. It's more pear than vanilla, in my opinion, but in that, it smells like a fun bubble bath or fancy lotion.
Bybi Buffer Lip Scrub, 0.35 oz. - Listed Value $13.00
I could only find this UK beauty brand on UK sites for around 9 GBP, so I just gave the listed value above. I know it's superficial, but I am loving the pretty, understated packaging! The scrub itself isn't half bad either—it has a really intriguing sweet almond smell to it and is packed with sugar crystals ready to slough away dead skin cells. I appreciate that the product is 100% natural, vegan, and cruelty-free. And I'm digging how smooth and nourished my lips feel now!
Lemon Balm Seed Starter Kit - Listed Value $6.95 (Buy as part of a 3-kit set for $20.00 here)
I have a goal of starting a small garden this year, so this kit will come in handy! I've never considered growing lemon balm, but I know I love when it shows up in natural fragrances or oil blends. Reading up on it, I found out that it has soothing qualities, a lemony taste that makes for a fab seasoning, and it attracts bees to gardens, which helps them pollinate and thrive. I love that this kit comes in biodegradable packaging and that it's so darn simple. This new gardener appreciates that the soil, seeds, and instructions are all provided and ready to rock!
Bonus Thank You Gift: Evelyn Iona Beauty Green Tea Primer, 0.67 fl. oz. - Retail Value $16.00
Folks who shared about last month's box on social media get this special surprise! I've seen this primer appear in subscription boxes before, and I was happy to get some more to add to my stash. This primer has a light, silky consistency that gives my skin a velvety texture. I like how it makes my skin feel like it's being nourished, not just having something externally applied to it to make it glow. I will say, if you're used to something like Smashbox Photo Finish, you might be underwhelmed by this formula. I definitely wouldn't suggest it for heavier makeup days, just because it doesn't have that same power to make everything blissfully, unbelievably smooth as big-name-brand primers. But for someone like me, who's is more of a "very light foundation, conceal what I have to, pop of blush, and go" kind of gal, this primer does a fine job. And knowing it's paraben and cruelty-free is a great perk.
Verdict: I really like Bombay and Cedar! I think it's lovely how they address so many aspects of self-care—there are beauty goodies, gifts to encourage quiet, reflective hobbies (like gardening and writing), healthy things to snack on... It's all just very thoughtful, in my opinion. The value feels right for the quality, too, especially given that the night cream alone was worth almost double the cost of the box itself!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $56.90, including shipping, but I estimate that there was $196.27 worth of retail value inside. (That's not counting the bonus item and adding up the retail values I found for each item. If I couldn't find a retail value, I used the value given by the info card.) That means that, proportionally, I paid the following for each item:
- Breathe Easy oil - $4.93
- Spring Bliss oil - $4.93
- Popcorn - $0.40
- Notebook - $4.62
- Night cream - $32.47
- Fragrance warmer - $2.90
- Wax melts - $0.87
- Lip scrub - $3.77
- Lemon balm kit - $2.01
