Ko Skin Beauty Fresh Glow Box March 2018 Review
Instead of a regular info sheet, this box includes one that directs you to the website to learn more about the included masks. It took me some looking around, but I eventually found the mask descriptions with their instructions and ingredients (in English!) on the page where you add the Fresh Glow box to your cart.
A’pieu Real Big Yogurt One-Bottle Blueberry Mask
This was the first mask I tried this month, and it really smells like blueberry yogurt! It wasn’t an overpowering scent, but I definitely noticed it. This mask contains fruit extracts in order to gently exfoliate while promoting hydration. After about five minutes I started to really feel some tingling, just above my top lip. In my head, I was thinking “wow, this sheet mask is really getting to work there.” Then I started wondering why it was tingling just above my top lip…. After some thinking, I remembered I ate spicy crawfish for dinner, and the essence of crawfish that was left on my lips moved to the skin above my lip as the sheet mask moved. Ignoring my faux pas, this left my skin soft and hydrated, and the mask fits comfortably to my face. It was a little drippy coming out of the package, but I consider that par for the course in the sheet mask game.
Banila Co. Dear Hydration Mask
This mask made me happy just looking at it, and I was excited because it is designed to help balance oily skin (something I have a-plenty of). Like its cohorts, it was a bit drippy, but it fit my face well and was easy to apply. It wasn't scented really scented with anything, and it was soothing and relaxing— and non-irritating! It left my skin feeling plump and soft, and I felt like I was on top of my skincare game after 20 minutes with this mask on.
Wish Formula Centella & Honey Serum Mask
Out of the four masks, this was the one that promised “intense hydration.” I promptly passed it on to a good friend with dry skin, and she said it was easy to use and did not leave her skin sticky. It was well-saturated in the product without being drippy, and it didn't irritate her skin. After using, it left her skin feeling cool and plump, and she gave it two thumbs up!
Papa Recipe Bombee Whitening Honey Mask
This was probably the thinnest mask out of the batch this month, and it was extra wide—something that is important when your acne tends to be along your jawline near your ear. The honey and propolis extract made this mask the perfect one to soothe my breakouts, and it was very hydrating and soothing overall. It did leave my skin a bit tacky after using it, but it dried after a few minutes.
The Verdict: I really enjoyed my first month from Ko Skin Beauty! Before this box, the only real exposure I’ve had to Korean skincare is the occasional tony moly mask I can pick up at Ulta. This was a fun way to try Korean skincare (straight from South Korea!) without having to venture into the world of Hangul. I didn't calculate a value for each mask because I couldn't find them on any American-based websites. I definitely think these four masks are worth $15, especially when considering that Ko Skin Beauty translated to provide all ingredients and instructions of the masks to English. I am excited to see what masks I get next month— Ko Skin curates the Fresh Glow Box by season, but each month should have some variations. This is a great box to try if you want to add Korean skincare to your routine but want someone else to do the world of finding the right masks.
