Loot Anime "Tech" February 2018 Review

astro boy poster

tech product list

Loot Anime includes a poster in lieu of an info card. This months is inspired by the Astro Boy! Classic. On the back, there's a visual product list and the name of the theme, which is Tech.

black anime tshirt

Exclusive Psycho-Pass Dominator T-Shirt

I love the simple, somewhat eerie design of this unisex Psycho-Pass shirt! It's a cool tribute to the cyberpunk series. I love how the teal print almost glows against the sturdy black fabric.

Exclusive Astro Boy Light Up Figure

What an awesome rendition of everyone's favorite robot superhero! Once you pop some batteries into this 8.25" statuette, a little yellow light shines up through the clear plastic body. It's not enough to serve as a lamp, but it makes a cool decor item. I love that you can see Astro Boy's metal robot "skeleton" inside!

Exclusive Robotech Beanie

This comfy yellow beanie has a smooth knit and an embroidered skull and crossbones patch, representing the Veritech Skull Squadron from the old-school robot anime, Robotech. I like the color, and it's handy to have in my neck of the woods, where winter hasn't officially left yet!

battle angel alita manga

Exclusive Battle Angel Alita Manga

I really like that this subscription includes manga. I've been off my manga collecting game since college, so I dig getting all of these special editions and first volumes to flip through. I've known about Battle Angel Alita forever, but I've never read or seen anything for myself. I just caught the trailer for the upcoming movie, too! I'll have to make sure to finish the manga (and maybe read a few more volumes) before I go see it.

loot anime pin

Exclusive Infinite Dendrogram Pin

Now, this is a new one to me. Apparently, Infinite Dendrogram only came out in 2017, so it's a newbie (especially compared to the classics highlighted in this box). This pin is 2 inches long and features the cover design from volume 1 of the manga.

The Verdict: I appreciated this tribute to so many old-school animes. There were some newbies in there, too, but I was most delighted to see the Astro Boy and Robotech items. The Battle Angel Alita manga felt like a timely, relevant pick, too, not just because of the theme, but the upcoming movie. All of these items were exclusives, which is cool if you're looking for some really unique anime collectibles and swag. I paid just over $30.00 for all of these finds, which feels fair. The pin I don't think is worth quite that (to me), but some of the bigger items (the t-shirt, the statuette) seem like they'd be far above the average price per item if I found 'em in a store.
