Love With Food Deluxe Box March 2018 "Spring" Review
Usually, the theme from the information card doesn’t have much to do with the box. This month, there was just the word “Spring.” So, let’s just move on and talk about the snacks:
The box came with this information card. I miss the old information cards that said more about the snacks.
This month's box was filled with coupons from Wayfair, Prince of Peace, and HelloFresh!
Salted Caramel Brownie Brittle, 1 oz x 2 – Buy 7 Bags for $13.99 (found on sale for $10.99)
I like this stuff but it shows up all the time in Love with Food. I’ll bet I get it at least three times a year. It is supposed to mimic the texture of the crispy outer edge of brownies, but everyone knows the barely-cooked center is the best part of a brownie! (You couldn’t package that, though…)
Jollyoak Crunchers in “Nutz 4 Smores”, 30g – Buy 12 Packs for $14.99
These are vegan (they have marshmallows sort of baked in, but the marshmallows are vegan too, which means I was able to eat them). This is a new product for me and we received two flavors this month (see the other one below). I preferred the texture of this one; they were a little bit more cluster-like and not as hard as the others.
Laiki Black Rice Crackers, 0.74 oz x 2 – Buy 24 Bags for $36 (found on sale here for $30)
These show up in food subscription boxes fairly often. They are good, if quite plain. They have a texture that reminds me a little bit of Bugles. These really would benefit from a dip or spread (either savory or sweet should work).
Laughing Giraffe Organics Lemon Snakaroons, 2 cookies – Buy 6 oz bag for $6.99
I like coconut cookies. They are super high in calories but they are tasty. The lemon flavor was evident here and it worked quite well for these snacks. For what it’s worth, even though it means more packaging waste, I prefer getting these in single-serve wrappers because once I got a huge bag of them in Rawbox and it disintegrated into a mass of coconut shreds. Be cautious of that if you are thinking of ordering (and maybe see if you can find them in a physical store instead).
Jamba Organic Fruit Bites in Strawberry, 0.63 oz – Buy 6 Bags for $4.49 (found on sale here for $3.98 - currently out of stock)
These were vegetarian fruit snacks with little star shapes. You’ll always get some kid food in Love with Food and I’m guessing it was this item, this month. They are out of stock pretty much everywhere I looked but I did at least find a product page on Walmart’s website. They were not too sticky but the flavor was rather generic.
Angel Mints, 2 candies – Buy 6 oz for $10.99
My husband and I discussed how much we liked the texture of these after we ate them. It’s a crumbly texture kind of similar to those mints you often see at weddings. I was ordering something else from Amazon so I threw a box in my order. I do not know what it is about these, but we both really liked them. The only ingredients are sugar, corn syrup, cream of tartar, and peppermint oil.
Jollyoak Crunchers in Oatmeal Cookie, 30g – Buy 12 Packs for $14.99
This is the second flavor we received from this company. These were quite hard, not in a crunchy way, but more in a just “difficult to eat” way. This would really benefit from being eaten with a spoon as the pieces were quite small.
Prince of Peace Ginger Chews with Lemon, 4.4 oz – Buy 2 Bags for $7.37
I think the new aspect of these is the lemon flavor. Which, honestly, is pretty much undetectable. These have a strong ginger kick and watch out for your dental work if you have any as they are super sticky.
Jamba Organic Fruit Bites in Blueberry Acai, 0.63 oz – Buy a box of 6 for $3.98 (currently out of stock)
This is a new flavor that is not yet for sale (I think). So I’ve linked to and given the value of the strawberry ones (see above). These had a more distinctive flavor than the strawberry ones that was more “blueberry” than “acai.” Which is fine.
Pop Chips Nutter Puffs in Peanut Butter, 1 oz x 2 – Buy 72 Bags for $49.99
This is apparently a new item that will be released on April 1. It’s kind of fun to get snacks before they’re available for sale. My husband and I both enjoyed these although I think you can get a similar effect from just eating peanut butter on crackers.
Verdict: There were 14 items in the February 2018 Love with Food Deluxe Box, which works out to about $1.43 per item. That is about average for Love with Food. This was a little bit of an odd month in that there were so many double items, but there weren’t a ton of repeats and I really liked getting new flavors and snacks before they were released. I don’t feel like that always happens so it was nice here.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the April box. Boxes ship around the 10th of each month.
