My Japan Box Hello Kitty February 2018 Review
Pastel Hello Kitty Plush
As far as plushes go, this one has got the gold medal in softness! This pastel-hued girl is a little over seven inches high when sitting and wears a pink skirt with what looks like a purple tank top (which is the same fuzzy fabric as her fur). Her eyes, nose, and whiskers are embroidered and her head is topped with a puffy pink bow to match her skirt. The tag says this is only for sale in Japan, so it wouldn't be available here in the states!
Hello Kitty Insulated Lunch Bag
I don't bring my lunch to work very often but always hope that cute bags like this will motivate me to do so. At the zipper, the bag measures 11 inches across, six and a half inches high, and is five and a half inches wide at the base. It's not going to fit my large salad container, but it will certainly fit a myriad of snacks that you need to keep cool if going for an outing. The outside is a thin nylon that is decorated in a red white and blue diagonal striped motif with "Hello Kitty" repeating and our favorite girl popping her head out, along with a letter, apples, a milk jug, and her old pal Tiny Chum. A bold red zipper matches the strong nylon handles that make carrying this little cooler bag easy. On the inside, you'll find a silver insulating lining that will hold in the cold (or heat) so that your snacks stay the right temperature.
Hello Kitty Plastic Cup
I'm really upping my plastic cup game lately from subscriptions boxes. This time, I was sent a clear cup that features Hello Kitty's bow, eyes, nose, and whiskers only on the front, and her name in red on the back. It's roughly the size of a rocks glass and stands three and a half inches tall with a diameter of three inches at the top. Is it wrong to drink cocktails out of this at home? Ok, maybe just juice.
Hello Kitty Chopsticks
I have a ton of chopsticks at my house, but not many are as cute as these. The natural wood of these brings a bit of classiness to this otherwise fun Hello Kitty branded utensil. There's a cool graphic pattern in brown and maroon at the end of theses which are capped in black. They also feature a small Hello Kitty face and the phrase "Itty-bitty, kind and pretty. The cat's meow it's Hello Kitty". Hehe! I've never heard that before but I love it. My favorite part of these chopsticks though has to be the end that you grab food with because they are textured for easier grip! I normally shy away from smoother chopsticks because the food slips from my novice handling, but the grip here is super helpful!
Hello Kitty Plastic Mesh Pouch
What a chic little makeup pouch this could be! On one side, there is a flexible plastic panel that is black with clear polka dots and a Hello Kitty head and the quote "Look at my red ribbon! It's a present from my mother.". The reverse side is made of a plastic black mesh that allows you to see all of your contents with ease. A black zipper with round zipper pull completes this dark pouch that is 6 3/4 inches wide by 4 3/4 inches tall. Not crazy about makeup? You can use this as a pencil pouch too!
Hello Kitty Coin Purse
Mirroring the colors from the insulated bag, this little neoprene kiss-lock coin purse is decked out in red white a blue like the French flag. One side features our girl at a bakery with a shopping bag with the exclamation "So much to choose from! I think I bought too much!". Oh, my sweet girl, there is no such thing as too many baked goods. The other side of the coin purse has HK with yet another shopping bag eating an ice cream cone while her mouse friend, Judy, looks on, seemingly wanting some ice cream for herself and the statement "Let's take a break". This coin purse is rather roomy and has plenty of room for coinage or other small items. The neoprene fabric is thick and stretchy and makes for sturdy construction.
Pink Hello Kitty Mini Drawstring Bag
We come to the fourth and final bag of the month with this pink passport-stamp drawstring bag featuring HK and Tiny Chum. Come to think of it, this matches the pump bottle from last month. The bag measures a little over seven inches tall by a bit over five inches wide and has a bright purple drawstring to cinch it closed. I'm trying to think of what I'd put in this pouch.. maybe I could use it for wrapped candy or as a little gift bag for a friend!
Hello Kitty Stickers with Metallic Gold Trim
The last item of the box is a sticker sheet of classic Hello Kitty style in her blue overalls, yellow shirt, and red bow. Each one is trimmed in metallic gold to give a hint of glamour to the various states shes in. My favorite, of course, is when she has her notebook and pencil in hand, but the stack of apples is pretty darned cute too.
Verdict: My Japan Box Hello Kitty was a bit heavier on the pouches and bags this month than I would have liked, but I can find uses for all of them or pass them to friends. All of the items are licensed by Sanrio and most are marked "For Sale in Japan Only" specifically, meaning they are harder for us US citizens to get. Nothing here blew my mind, but there are a lot of Hello Kitty fans out there that would most likely love getting these harder to find items.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No- since boxes are mailed at the beginning of the month, it looks like you have to sign up by the end of each month to receive the following month's box as your first.
Value Breakdown: At $49.00 for this box, you're paying approximately $6.13 per item.
