Yes! Please review both! I don’t find the Badass Box all that interesting since it’s a lot of repeats of (or very similar to) items we’ve received in other boxes. But who knows what will be in future boxes? As for Slutwalk, I’m extremely interested to see what comes in this box. Like many others, I’ve signed up for the updates and hope to see a release date soon.

As for those who find these names offensive or “trashy”, I respect your opinion. But I’m of the opinion that there are too many other important things to be offended by. Climate change, the rape culture that still exists, women still making less than men for the exact same job, the stomping out of the middle class, racism, misogyny, genocide in other countries, etc… That being said, that’s just MY opinion and if others disagree, then that is absolutely their right. My opinion vs. your opinion doesn’t make either of us right…or wrong. That’s just the way it is.

I would expect that these boxes will be no different than every other box out there. Some people will love it and some people will hate it. But yay for our differences. If everyone was the same, imagine how boring life would be.

I see the Badass Box name as the exact same thing as Smartass and Sass. No better, no worse. But Slutwalk does actually have meaning and I fully support the movement. And truthfully, I’m glad to see Amber Rose breathing some life back into it. But full disclosure…I am not really a fan of either of these celebrities. I barely know who they are. So for me, their relevance doesn’t matter. I’m more into the contents of the boxes 🙂

I do hope MSA reviews both for at least a couple of months. That way, we get a better sense of what we can expect from them.

Yea, don’t really care for Amber and her “brand”. I have two young daughters and it is not cool to make our young girls think it is OK to be sluts and side chicks with no morals or respect for themselves..all for that $$$ tho right? No thanks, I will pass on this box. I cannot support this.

Julie

For a second I thought about checking out the box but then decided to google amber rose… nope! Had her confused with Ruby Rose who I could actually see pushing a cause more than herself.

Sherry

I signed up for the email alerts for Slutbox! The category mix is something different which can be hard for new boxes. As far as the name 1) she’s involved w Slutwalk and she’s pretty badass and 2) since I live in Boystown the terms slut and skank etc are in my normal vocabulary and not used as derogatory terms! I keep wanting to like Smartass & Sass but it’s just not quite right for me.

For the other box I think that’s the eyeshadow palette we got last yr in FabFitFun – wasn’t a huge fan of the pigment. But still a nice product mix.

These two boxes names are attention seekers, it is obvious. And explaining a movement does not make it right. Theses two boxes are not for me. Plus, I am NOT stupid to spend that much money on either box. If it is for you and you want it, go ahead, it is not my money. And I do very well financially.

Alexa

Badass Box just looks like Happy Rebel except trying too hard and not as well done.

I have neutral feelings towards Amber Rose but I would be interested to see what she puts together. I appreciate the message of the movement.

Reply ButtonReply

Lizzie

An FYI that Slut Walk began in Toronto, Canada and it focused on how sexual assault should never try to be justified by blaming what the victim wore/looked like (and it was to also bring more attention to a particular judge). NOW, especially in the USA, it’s focusing more and more on how women can wear what they want and have sex with who they want and the word slut and other derogatory terms should not apply to them. It is losing the potential power it had to chang make changes in the legalism of handling sexual crimes.

BTW, I love how Amber Rose stated she didn’t start it, but she is bringing more attention to it. So, should she be given credit for the deconstruction of a powerful movement into what it is being turned into?

Reply ButtonReply

Reyna

Bam!!! Totally feeling what you said. This ain’t for me, for sure. Just don’t and won’t get with it. Peace to those who do, and to those who see it as a not so great “movement”, for lack of a better word, as others also do.😩😧🙄✌💙

Reply ButtonReply

Cassandra

Please review SlutBox by Amber Rose. I appreciate the movement of pushing back on women being judge for what they wear and do. The fact that there are so many comments about the name and it is upsetting or not is the whole point. It is to get people talking. Also interesting now a word can make you feel and why. So far Slut is trashy, embarrassing, and empowering. I hope this box gets reviewed so the discussion can keep coming and maybe it will just focus on the context and we will get desensitized and slut won’t have any power.

Stephanie

I wouldn’t mind seeing either/or reviewed. I wish the badass box was a slightly lower price point, I might jump on it.

Reply ButtonReply

Snowhitetwin

Yes! Please review!! I feel like lately the only boxes I’m seeing reviewed are pet boxes (don’t have any) and clothing subscriptions (too expensive for me.) I love lifestyle and beauty boxes reviewed and would enjoy seeing many more! Thanks for this 😊

Reply ButtonReply

Snowhitetwin

One last comment, I enjoy these types of reviews just for the laughs/commentary!!

Reply ButtonReply

Snowhitetwin

Add food boxes to the list of reviews I see plenty on here.

Reply ButtonReply

Cristina

I like both boxes and am thinking of getting the badass box. I agree with another reviewer that I hope it’s the unicorn palette, but I kind of doubt it will be.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

Christina I found an unboxing video of Badass box on Facebook and it’s the neutral 12 shadow palette from Doucce.

Reply ButtonReply

Cristina

Thanks, I guess it makes sense

Elena

Please review both boxes. I’m excited to see what’s inside.

Reply ButtonReply

Chana

I’m not interested in either box. I don’t buy boxes connected with pseudo celebrities.

Reply ButtonReply

Bonnie

What does that even mean, pseudo celebrities? Shenae Grimes is an actress, and Amber Rose is a model. Just because you don’t know or like them doesn’t negate their careers.

Reply ButtonReply

Holly

Nope and nope

Reply ButtonReply

DonnaG

Agreed.

Reply ButtonReply

AmyM

I wouldn’t mind seeing both of them reviewed, even though I’m only really interested in the Badass box. I agree that the names are a little off-putting, not because I find them vulgar (I don’t), but because if you call yourself a “badass,” you probably aren’t one. If It was a $50 box I’d jump on it. $75 + shipping is a little steep.

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy Perez

I don’t understand why you would come on here if you are not interested in the box. Keep going if it is not your thing. I for one and my two sisters and best friend subscribe to smart ass and sass and look forward to the reviews. In this day and age where everything is about political correctness this box makes us smile and I want to see it reviewed.

Reply ButtonReply

April

Everything is not about political correctness. Only people who live in lily white bubbles think that. I’m so tired of this made up narrative. GMAFB.

Ok magazine has a post about this: here’s an excerpt

The activist, entrepreneur, and social media sensation is taking her Slutwalk to the next level. For the past several years, Amber has publicly fought back against victim-blaming and the harmful effects of stereotyping, using her platform to be a voice of empowerment and raise awareness about gender inequality.

And what better way to empower yourself than by owning your sexuality? SlutBox by Amber Rose isn’t your every subscription box, as you can imagine. It’s a fearless and feminist monthly subscription box sent each month to celebrate the fierceness of you.

“SlutBox is inclusive. SlutBox is bold. SlutBox is confident. SlutBox is sexy. Join me every month and let’s start a movement,” says Amber.

So what exactly is in each box? Well every moth will be different, but each SlutBox includes everything from beauty and body care to safe sex tools and useful activism how-to’s.

The first month’s box will feature companies LeLo, Pastease, Flirt Cometics and The HoneyPot Co.

A great way to get rich-er: associate trinkets you want to sell with any current popular cause.

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

I’m not a fan of Amber Rose (calling her an activist is a REACH, & I don’t like how this text implies that she is somehow responsible for the idea of a SlutWalk), so this was a hard no for me, but those are good spoilers! I have heard awesome things about the LELO brand!

Reply ButtonReply

Yadira

I love the idea that these subscriptions are reviewed. I am a mother, wife, and professional in the health care area, but above all, a woman.

About “The badass box” — it includes all kinds of products and for me is interesting. What I would like to know is if you can customize the products? Colors, etc. And as an observation, please, no more Doucce shadow palette, the Doucce company has other products — maybe a mascara or blush would be nice!

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

If only all of us could petition subscription companies and shout “Please No more Doucce eyeshadow palettes.”

Reply ButtonReply

Brenda

And let’s add no more Manna Kadar to that list!

Tara from Canada

I find it really irritating that the badass box website says they only ship to the USA, but shenae Grimes is Canadian. We get left out enough without fellow Canadians excluding us.

Reply ButtonReply

Leslie

By using the links to go to the items in the Badass box, the value comes to over $220.00! The items are all something you might see in any other lifestyle box. I think the name is obnoxious, but I really like all the items. The sunglasses, the charging bank, the mask and eyeshadow palette are all items I would use. I don’t know a thing about the creator, but I judge a box on the value and items. I would love to see this box reviewed and think if this box makes it, it will give the new quarterly pop sugar box a run for its money.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

I wonder if it’s the unicorn special edition Doucce palette, I’d actually use it. The smoky and nudes are imo bleh and I’d rather grab any of my other smoky and neutral eyeshadows over the Doucce from FFF. I actually think this is a decent box and worse case scenario a local animal group gets another palette donated to raffle in a basket.

Reply ButtonReply

Wendy

@Anna thanks for the idea about donating my unused subscription box items to animal groups for use in raffle baskets. Right now, I can make several huge baskets with the unopened items I’ve got. Animal causes are my passion but it would work for just about any cause that’s making baskets.

Julie

All the packages in my building go to a package room where they are sorted and given to us by the all male employees. While the guys might be polite I don’t appreciate something called “slut box” coming to my house. It’s already weird enough when my husband picks up my singlesswag box. Also I don’t see a single “badass” thing in the “badass” box. The contents aren’t bad minus the doucce palette right out of the gate but it’s like happy rebel where the edgiest thing is the skull on the box. It seems very close to FFF as far as contents.

Reply ButtonReply

katie

Completely agree with everything you said in your comment. Even throwing the box out on trash day could be an embarrassment😱.

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

I’m fine with the words but that doesn’t mean I want it emblazoned on my chest or in this case in giant letters on a florescent pink box that screams for attention.

Wendy

Might be time for me to leave MSA. Between these and smartass and sass, I just don’t understand reviewing these trashy boxes. And before people say it, nobody will miss me and MSA doesn’t need me. Another reason to go, people are so mean on here at times. It’s supposed to be your own opinion, but you are certainly chastised for it.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

I don’t know that MSA filters their subscription news and choices …. all walks of life means all types of subs. It’s my understanding that MSA tries to be inclusive and wide range so as to express news and reviews of ALL types of subs. It would be kind of hard to tout a website about a subscription addiction that provides news and reviews to all types of subscriptions if they pick and choose based upon a name of a box. Trashy to you may not be to others, or some may even deem being “trashy” as empowering and part of their identity …. who am I to judge?

Reply ButtonReply

Ks

One woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure. Stop with the judgmental attitude already. All women should be celebrated.

Reply ButtonReply

Cristina

They review plenty of other boxes that aren’t “trashy” . If you get no value from that either, then maybe you should leave. But if you enjoy their other reviews, you shouldn’t let their reviews of boxes that other people may enjoy deprive you of the entire MSA experience.

Reply ButtonReply

sara

Wendy, you proved your point well by being answered with personal chastisement after sharing your opinion. You predicted correctly! I’m sorry some people feel the need to be bossy/rude to you when you are expressing your opinion about subscription-related matters. There is no need for it other than the commenter’s need to feel superior.
I hope it helps to know that for every mean girl commenter, there ARE kind girls out there too : )

Reply ButtonReply

Stef

If you dont like it, how about dont click on the review? I dont understand what is so hard about that?? If a box doesnt interest me, i dont read the reviews. This should not even be an issue here..its common sense.

Reply ButtonReply

sssssss

the review name states new sub boxes so everyone interested in “new sub boxes who frequents my subscription addiction is going to “click on it”

del29

completely agree with you. Why is being a slut or anything associated with the word so popular these days?? I’m only 29 but a few years back being a slut wasn’t a good thing and now its even on sub boxes lol what is happening to society:/

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

I totally agree with you. I can understand people not wanting to be politically correct all the time, but “slut” is a derogatory term, even though it’s misogynistic. I also can’t understand how profanity got so entrenched in our language.
The boxes are ok, I guess. If it’s your thing, that’s fine…but I miss class.

Nicole

These boxes are not my jam either. Don’t stop commenting and sharing your opinions. I love reading people’s comments as much as the reviews sometimes. Occasionally people go a little far but for the most part I think everyone likes hearing others views.

Reply ButtonReply

RD

Well… I mean it’s not particularly difficult to not click on links is it?

I have no children, so I don’t click on the links to the child-related boxes. I don’t go on the child-box reviews and complain that 4-5 boxes reviewed aren’t to my liking. I know that there are people out there who have children and enjoy the reviews.

I’d understand the frustration if every single box was sex-related or full of curse words. But there are literally 3, maybe 4 that I can think of off the top of my head.

Reply ButtonReply

Dani

They both look amazing. The badass box seems a little pricey compared to other similar boxes which market for less. However, I love those spoilers. Would love to see slutbox reviewed as well!

Reply ButtonReply

Daria

Strikes me as just a major money-grab – don’t these people have enough of it? Anyway I’m not for or against – it’s just a meh thing for me. I’d be mildly interested in seeing the Slutbox reviewed, but just out of idle curiosity.

Reply ButtonReply

Pilar

Well Duh! Everyone in the subscription box world is trying to make money!
