Each box comes with an info card with a beautiful illustration on the front of the card and the back of the card, the contents of the box and their prices. The theme for February is “From ONYX With Love.” The beautiful illustration on the front of the info card and inside box is by VG Waymer. Also, the box design is black with the mpatapo symbol in white on top of the box which is an adinkra sign of peace and unity.

Morganna’s Bellatox, 0.34 oz - Listed Value $25.00 (buy a 0.5 oz. bottle for $39.99)

The serum contains four active ingredients to reduce wrinkles in a flash visibly! They include hydrolyzed vegetable protein, spilanthol, imperata cylindrica, and hyaluron. The serum intends to address dehydrated skin, and provide moisture, as well as reduce wrinkles. I have gotten to the stage where my eyesight is changing and the grey hair gets more and more stubborn, which I hate. But I can happily say no wrinkles for now, or maybe ever - my Mom’s skin is gorgeous with little noticeable signs of wrinkles. So, I may pass on to her or a friend. This subscription tends to send innovative products for my beauty routine that are new and useful. I’m not sure if this sample is worth the listed price but sometimes the quality of the product outweighs the size of the product.

From Morganna Alchemy:

Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein: envelops the skin, instantly smoothing visible surface wrinkles and imperfections, forms coherent films on the surface of the skin, visibly reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother looking appearance.

Spilanthol, a local anaesthetic extracted from Acmella oleracea, reduces muscle contractions and relaxes your features. This reduces fine lines, particularly around the eyes and between the eyebrows. Your skin becomes noticeably smoother.

Imperata cylindrica, also known as blady grass. This plant grows in the very driest of South America’s desert regions and is able to survive even on saline soils. This extract supplies the skin with moisture up to 4 hours.

Hyaluron. One of the natural moisturizing factors (NMFs) found in the skin. Together with lipids, NMFs keep skin from losing water, maintaining skin’s young, smooth, non-flaky appearance. It creates a slight swelling of the skin that reduces the appearance of wrinkles. NMFs in skincare products also help to temporarily stabilize and maintain the complex intercellular-skin matrix, which is the “glue” that holds the skin together.

Directions for use: For optimal results, use Bellatox serum Two times a day, alone or under your regular moisturizer

No known risks or side effects. No animal testing.

Shimmer Powder-Wild Lilac-2.35g

bellápierre Cosmetics Shimmer Powder in Wild Lilac, 2.35g  - Retail Value $15.00

This 100% mica powder has shimmer and sparkle to it as well as a rich color that’s blendable with other powders I have on hand. The shimmer powder is 100% hypoallergenic and suitable for all skin tones. The site indicates the shade “wild lilac” is light burgundy with a touch of gold. When I applied to my skin, it has more of a pinkish shade with a touch of silver. I rarely wear makeup, but when I do, I don’t go all glam, I just keep it simple. I’m slowly learning the many uses of various products such as this one, and I was surprised with the many ways to use this powder. Plus, I received this brand before in another subscription box and never realized the versatility of mica powder.

From bellápierre cosmetics:

EYE SHADOW

Use any of the BELLA PIERRE SHIMMER POWDERS as eyeshadow. Simply use a sponge applicator or brush and lightly touch it to the desired color, then apply it to your eyelid. Choose a lighter color as a highlighter to apply above. For a matte finish use with Bellapierre Make Up Base.

CREAM EYE SHADOW

For a more dramatic look, use a damp applicator.

BLUSH

Use a blush brush and lightly touch the tip into the desired color and apply along the cheekbone. For a more dramatic and matte look, apply with a damp makeup sponge.

EYE LINER

Use a thin eyeliner brush, dampen and lightly touch it to the desired color. Apply under your lower eyelashes and /or over your upper eyelashes.

LIP COLOR

First, apply BELLAPIERRE Clear Lipstick Base. Then, using a lip brush, dip it into the desired color and apply to the lips.

NAIL POLISH

Using clear nail polish, dip brush into the polish, then into the desired color powder, and paint on nails. Polish may also be mixed in a separate container for larger batches. Do the above with existing colored nail polish to change its shade.

TINTED MASCARA

Using BellaPierre Clear or Black Mascara Dip Mascara Brush into the desired color and paint on eyelashes.

BRONZER

Apply a dab of your favorite lotion (or even suntan lotion) in the palm of your hand. Mix a small amount your own colors in with the lotion. Rub on exposed areas.

Library of Flowers Bath and Body Set  - Listed Value $10.00 for set

I received a 2 oz. tube of the Arboretum with Coco Butter shower gel and a 1.5 oz. tube of the Arboretum with Coco Butter hand creme. This brand is popular in subscription boxes and I previously received this brand in their hand creme, Linden. I was excited to have a lotion accompany the shower gel but upon further investigation and use, it's a hand crème that’s thick, rich and moisturizing. And the scent reminds me of perfume, but it wasn’t as strong as the hand crème I own.

This shower gel was thick and creamy with a nice lather and has a faint perfume scent. I would have preferred to have the body lotion included with the shower gel instead of the hand crème, but I can always use it on my body. The shower gel and hand crème came as a set as indicated on the info card, but I couldn’t find the items for purchase on their website.

Jane Carter Frizz Free Styling Smoother- 2 oz

Jane Carter Frizz Free Styling Smoother, 2 oz. - Estimated Value $3.67 (Buy a 6 fl oz. tube for $11)

I received a deluxe sample of their hydrating invigorating shampoo, and I was pleased with the results. The product included in this month’s box is a styling product suitable for all hair types/textures, curly/coily hair or as a heat protector.  I wear my hair in braids, so this will not be the best for my hair now, but will save for later when I have a different hairstyle. From Jane Carter:

What Will It Do for My Hair?

  • This multi-functional styling smoother offers heat protection and frizz control.

  • It contains Sunflower Oil, Maracuja Oil & Panthenol to nourish, strengthen and protect.

  • It’s the perfect product to add to clean wet hair.

  • It reduces frizz and encourages your own natural curl.

  • It acts as a heat protectant when blow drying and flat ironing hair.

  • It can also be used as a daily hair nourisher in the morning to revive tired hair.

Tokyomilk Rose With Bees Cosmetic Bag - Retail Value $14.00

It was a nice surprise to open the box and see this lovely cosmetic bag that held the monthly products. I’m accustomed to changing my makeup bag monthly since I subscribed to Ipsy and this bag can go in my rotation. I love the design, and the bag has enough room to store all my makeup/toiletry items.

Here’s an inside look at the cosmetic bag.

Verdict: We Are Onyx Beauty Box has a value of $67.67, a good deal for a $25.00 box with free shipping. My favorite part of the box is the cosmetic bag and shower gel. I love having a variety of travel size products on hand, and I have another makeup bag to add to my collection. The box has an assortment of products for my face, body, and hair all geared towards my skin tone. This box covers what a WOC needs for a beauty box. We Are Onyx sends the best quality beauty products each month. So, if you’re looking for an inexpensive WOC subscription box with the majority of the products full size, this is the box for you!

Shelly

That makeup bag is so pretty! And I had no idea that I could use the mica powder so many ways. Thank you for including the uses of it and a great review.

I really liked how they included all of the products in the make up bag. It was almost like opening a large Ipsy bag. 🙂 I did get a different bag design though, which I really liked. I’m glad I read your review, and you mentioned the lotion was a hand cream. I think I assumed it was a body lotion to go with the shower gel as well! On another note… I really wish the drawing of the ladies was on the outside of the box. It’s such a pretty drawing. I would so keep all of the boxes then.
