Pearlesque Box March 2018 Review
This month's featured company is French brand C. Lavie, named after founder Sylvia Cazenave-Lavie.
Whether they were carried by perfumers, at a pharmacy, in a supermarket, or even organic specialty stores, the selected products caused Sylvia to develop various cutaneous reactions: inflamed skin, redness, blemishes, and eczema. Sylvia therefore decides to visit her dermatologist, who diagnoses her with sensitive, inflammatory and acne-prone skin. He prescribes her a treatment that will literally burn her skin. It wasn’t until then that she started to scrutinize the formulas of each product that she has at home, investigated their components and the effects they have on skin. While making her discoveries, Sylvia stops using the cosmetic products called “conventional” and turns to products called “organic”, particularly because they do not contain silicon or mineral oils which proved to be very comedogenic. Even so, Sylvia notices that it is not easy to find products that suit her. She is disappointed by the odor and texture of the products and continues to develop cutaneous reactions due in part to the significant presence of alcohol or essential oils. Frustrated and having lost all confidence in cosmetics, including natural and organic ones, Sylvia begins to create her own skincare products at home.
As always, the other side lists the two products included, how to use them, and the retail price. They also include a #pearltip for each.
C. Lavie Essential .11 Eye Cream, 0.5 oz. - Retail Value $70.00
Going in order of application, we first have the eye cream from their "essentials" collection. This short n' stout bottle looks small but holds an amount of product I now know should last quite some time. Just one pump of product delivered enough to use around both of my eyes. The eye cream is actually clear and a consistency is just thick enough to be a "gel", but not sticky at all. It also has no scent at all, which is kind of refreshing.
Since I thoroughly read beauty directions, I appreciate these details instructions (with illustrations!) on exactly how to use the eye cream. This insert folded around the bottle, inside the box.
I just had to take a photo of how beautiful the pattern on the other side of the instructions is!
Here's how it's described:
Natural hyaluronic acid and pure aloe vera juice provide skin with optimal hydration while boosting elasticity. Dark circles and other signs of fatigue are visibly reduced with the addition of green coffee bean extract and immortelle oil. Overall improved circulation and lift result in brighter, more youthful looking eyes.
Yep, that is exactly what I want from an eye cream! As soon as you gently apply it around your eyes, you can feel it sort of tighten up as it dries. I've used it a few times thus far and already really like it! I think this is one that I'll be switching over to in hopes to see some long-term results.
C. Lavie Essential .19 Day Cream, 1.7 oz. - Retail Value $85.00
The day cream comes in a nice 1.75 oz size bottle with a pump that doles out the perfect amount of product. It has a really light scent that I can't place but is really pleasant.
From C. Lavie:
The Essential .19 Day Cream's unique formula will protect your skin against environmental stressors while locking in and maintaining much-needed moisture. The synergy of precious oils (Prickly pear, Jojoba and Desert Date), which are exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids and triglycerides, will moisturize and repair dry, damaged skin and boost it's natural barriers against external toxins. Ingredients are bio-available, meaning they are easily absorbed into the skin to deliver essential nutrients and hydration. Antioxidant-rich oils defend against free radicals while supporting a radiant complexion.
I've been using it after the eye cream in the morning and am really loving it! The formula feels really luxurious and is way more moisturizing than what I've been using lately. There is a tiny bit of an oily feeling at first, but it sinks in leaving super soft skin behind. It creates a great base before putting on makeup so things don't look dry.
Again- super detailed instructions! I love how they tell you how to apply it and even which way to smooth it into your face and neck.
More beautiful designs on the other side.
Verdict: I am over the moon about this month's Pearlesque Box items from C. Lavie! They come off as a true luxury brand, have all natural ingredients, smell nice, and have made my skin look really hydrated and fresh! The day cream is probably my favorite of the two because it's just so moisturizing, but the eye cream will be my new tool to combat dark circles. The value this month is also incredible seeing as though I received $155.00 worth of product for $39.95!
