Figures. I cancelled my subscription. I started getting repeats and I was overwhelmed with skin care samples.
I don’t think there are tons of different boxes. When I used to go to Play! events, they said there were only three types of boxes.

Not, Josie
Me,too! But don’t fret, we wouldn’t have gotten it anyway!

I normally love DE so I bought this the day it was released, but it burned my skin. If I get it I’ll definitely be swapping it.

Really hope I get this! I’ve been wanting to try Drunk Elephant for a while but so dang expensive!

You will love this product! I can say it’s one of my favorite masks! A small amount lasts forever too! I’m hoping it’s in all of the boxes! I meant to also tell everyone from last months (March), if you don’t use the blue silky bag, and you wear any type of eyeglasses including sunglasses-it is so good for cleaning your glasses if your in a hurry🙂

Just started using DE products and I love everything I’ve tried so far. I’m soooo addicted to the Lippe Balm stick. It’s fantastic! 😃
I would love to try this!!

Not looking forward to this. Even retinols irritate my skin.

Nope! Not being roped in. I canceled play at the end of January because I got tired of box envy and always getting products I didn’t like or couldn’t use with my oily/combo skin. No FOMO right now. Got a sample from my local Sephora, loved it and bought the full size and have been happy ever since. Sorry Play! Until you decrease the variety of boxes, I’m not playing. I’m happy with Beautyfix, Boxycharm, and Look Fantastic. 🙌🏽

The exact same thing with me! i cancelled last month after being extremely disappointed in the products I have been receiving for the last 6 months. I thought I would check the spoilers and I already own this in a full size! So haha Sephora Play! lmao

I loved this product too but found the Ordinary peel to be a great dupe! I have both

With Sephora’s policy of giving samples when asked for, you can always check this site for samples you’d like to try and then go into the store to ask for them. I do this whenever I request certain sample with online orders and then get different items.

I totally agree. I dropped my subscription to PLAY! for the same reason. I would see amazing products in some boxes, and I would get a box with nothing I could use. If they would have made it so it fit my profile, I would have been happy, but more often than not, I got products that were not for me. I have thick, curly hair, and I get volumizer. Odd lipstick colors, tiny, tiny samples. I’m not sorry I cancelled.

You have an issue with 1) not getting the box you want / essentially there being too many box options each month and 2) getting products you can’t use with your specific skin type. It seems to me that you shouldn’t want less box options each month (meaning more of a one-size fits all box each month), but box options that are better matched, so that you never again get a skin care product for say dry skin? or a hair product meant for the wrong hair type? Just seems like your demand is contradictory.

I also think people who are that particular shouldn’t do boxes where you can’t control what you get. It’s $10. Best case I get awesome things I love. Worse case, I find out what I don’t like, or I have items I can donate to a shelter or give to a friend who will love it.

I just canceled and while I would have enjoyed this sample, there is no way I’ll re-sub. The samples are just so TINY, and profiles don’t mean much as it was rare for me to get something I was even mildly interested in. If you are looking for a good peel – look at the Ordinary 30% AHA 2% BHA – its maybe $10 and AMAZING.

Yes! I love the Ordinary. Their products are amazing and affordable. I’ve been using the glycolic acid toner and vitamin C serum for my hyperpigmentation…works great!

Is it a daily use or a mask like the baby face one here? I really want to try the ordinary but I’m so confused by how each of their products are supposed to be used. Thanks!

It is a mask that you use 2-3 times a week. It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but their customer service is great and will usually help you pick products based on your age/concerns. I actually started by reading reviews and a lot of people have posted their “routines” as suggested by customer service – I started from there and narrowed down what I wanted to start with and have built from there.

Hoping I get this. I’ve wanted to try the brand, but the price scares me.

I never got the ‘item’ that I wanted from Play so I cancelled and have never looked back. No FOMO. They just can’t even tempt me. I won’t ‘Play’ this game.

Rather than resub in the *hope* that I get this, I’ll pay a few dollars more and get the box on Ebay. I really don’t want to go through the bad emotions of not getting it. That’s why I quit Play and went to Allure. (And then Allure went ham on variations! Grrrrr)

Kearstin
Allure was awful this month, in my opinion 😕 And play hasn’t been a lot better. Cancelled Boxy.. sigh. I just need a GOOD box!

Dominique
I was tempted to resub after seeing this, but since it’s not guaranteed…. Just get a sample from Sephora if you live near one. I’m fortunate enough to have both a Sephora and a Sephora Inside JcP at one of my close by malls, so I ended up with two. That’s a cool idea to try a new mask a week for free.

If I sign up today, will I get a March box or will it start in April?
Reply
Betsy
April. You usually get charged for the box around the 2nd-4th of the month. I think if you haven’t been charged for the box by about the 8th, you’ve missed the month.

If I don’t get this I will move to a cabin in the woods.

Go into the store and ask for a sample. Also, if your store does Play dates, they’re willing to give them out right then

This will probably be the unicorn that apprears in a very small number of boxes. I’ve been ready to cancel for months and then I look back on all the great products I’ve discovered over the last 2 years and I keep going, JUST IN CASE, this month contains one.
My favorite sub box discovery of ALL TIME? The Lancer Skincare line. It’s really wonderful. Not the most budget conscious products, but not the priciest either.

I am the same way!!! There is another sub box I have my eyes on if/when I cancel this one.

By far the best OTC peel out there – and I’ve tried a ton of them. If I could be assured of getting this I’d subscribe in a heartbeat. What are the chances, I wonder???

I don’t sub to play but I do use drunk elephant products & if you haven’t used this before, you are in for a treat. All of their products are amazing but Babyfacial takes the cake. It’s the best peel I’ve ever used. Word of warning though…don’t use a retinol cream immediately after you use this. Wait a few hours if you must use one. I found that out the hard way. It made my face burn like you wouldn’t believe. I dont know if it’s just because my skin is sensitive but I don’t want anyone else to go thru that if it can be helped.

Using retinol at the same time as any acids is a bad idea. It’s way too much for the skin to handle. You’ll get dried out – and not in any kind of good way. And considering this product has a crazy high amount of AHAs, using it anytime near retinol would be baaaaad. One in the morning and one in the evening would be okay, though.

Anna
It’s actually totally a myth that you can’t use acids and retinols together. The only time it would be a problem is if were prescription retinol. Caroline Hirons has done several post about it.

Is it clear if this is in all boxes?

It’s one of the items being sampled this month, but won’t be in all the boxes. Hope that helps clarify!

Great product. Hopefully, it will be in all of the boxes. Be very careful not to get it in your lips as it strips off the whole outer layer and leaves them raw. I found that out the hard way and now I am super careful with any peel products. My bad! It took well over a week to get them back to normal.
