This month’s theme is “Festival of Beauty.” Now, on to the items!

Lancome Hypnose Drama Instant Full Body Mascara - 4 ml Value $18.33

The full size version is 6 ml, so this is a deluxe-sized sample! I feel like this mascara lives up to the "Drama" in its name. The formula delivers on volume, length, and the color is a deeply pigmented black. I could apply multiple layers without any sacrificing lash definition, too.

Is it as good as my new favorite mascara, Benefit BADGal BANG? Nope, but it's a solid formula.

Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Powder Foundation in 26 - 3 g Value $8

Another good size for a sample! (It's almost half the size of the full-size version.)

This isn't the perfect color match for me, but other than that, I have no complaints. I love the matte finish, and you can build the coverage from light to medium. Personally, I need full coverage, so this isn't an ideal formulation for me, but I love it for touch-ups throughout the day.

Here is this color swatched:

The powder feels light and silky, too.

Sephora Collection Triple Action Cleansing Water – 25 ml Value $1.50

Micellar water has been one of my favorite beauty box discoveries over the past few years. I use it every day! This formula is gentle on skin and easily removed all my makeup. (I love using this with a q-tip for fixing any makeup mistakes, too.)

COOLA Makeup Setting Spray SPF 30 - 10 ml Value $7.20

Coola makes great ingredient-conscious SPF products (I love their scented Body Sunscreen Sprays). This mist is fine enough to not mess up your make up, and it set my makeup well with a matte finish, too. Plus the added SPF is always a good thing!

Briogeo Blosson & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Voluminizing Spray - 22 ml Value $2.97

This may be my favorite Briogeo product yet! First, if you aren't familiar with the brand, Briogeo makes ingredient-conscious haircare formulas that smell great! This spray added a little volume to my hair without adding any stickiness or texture. If you want a small volume boost, I recommend it. (Plus it makes your hair smell SO good.)

BURBERRY My Burberry Blush - 2 ml Value $4.53

Almost every Play! by Sephora box will also include a fragrance sample as the sixth item. This floral scent has notes of Pomegranate, Rose, and Jasmine.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $42.53. I think that's great for a $10 beauty box, especially since the box will always include high-end brands. Plus the sample sizes were great this month! I'll use just about everything in this box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. You have to sign up by the 15th to receive that month's box, so as of today (2/22), your first box will be the April box.

Coupon – No coupons available for this subscription.

Value Breakdown: At $10 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Mascara: $4.31
  • Foundation: $1.88
  • Cleansing Water: $.35
  • COOLA: $1.69
  • Briogeo: $.70
  • Perfume: $1.06

I received box 677, very disappointed in 2 Sephora brand items. Did like the Briogeo spray, only problem is the bottle was only half full of product. This was my first box, may be my last.

My box was 677 and I cancelled after this month too. I was okay with the items in my bag, they were just soooooooo teeny tiny. Teeny tiny lip stuff, teeny tiny eyeliner, and the Dr. Jarts sample was so small I doubt there’s enough product to know if I like it or not.

I’ve been cutting back on some of my subs and Sephora Play was an easy cut. I also have Macy’s and IPSY and I just think they are way better.

I was really impressed with the powder foundation, best I ever tried! I might even buy the full size.

How do you ladies know what box you’re getting and what each box has in it? Thanks in advance.

Apologies if this seems dumb.

I got #364 and overall not a bad box, the February box was slightly better but this one did give a nice variety of products. I get the theme they were going for this month since March/April are the festival months and I did like the bag because tie dye goes with that theme, I just wish they kept the writing off of it. Only one makeup product in this box but I guess that goes with the theme since at festivals you don’t wear much makeup. The only makeup item was the Stila eyeliner. I do love that eyeliner and will definitely use it, it’s probably not the most creative or new thing to put in the box but it’s better getting something trustworthy than something I’ll never use. I only wear black eyeliner and on some occasion purple so I’m glad it’s in their classic black shade. The Supergoop! product actually seems like a cool product and I am excited to try it out. It goes with the festival theme due to the spf in the product and I always appreciate spf in products. The Bobbi Brown product was kind of disappointing, not because of the actual product but the size of it. It’s minuscule! You get pretty much 1 use out of it and it’s hard to know if you like it out of one use. I don’t really understand why this is so small when all the other products are decently sized samples. In comparison, the Korres product is a decently sized product that I’ll be able to get some use out of since with cleansers you use more product. It has good reviews and I have not received a sample of this before. I’m hoping this can help my dry skin from the winter weather. The IGK product looks interesting, and is decently sized but I’m not really sure about putting a balm into my hair. I may just try a little bit of a time and see how it goes. I like IGK and have been interested in their products. Lastly, the Amika sample is pretty big for a foil sample and I’m actually more excited to try this over the IGK. So the Stila, Korres, and Supergoop are wins for me, the IGK is a nice sample but not sure if it will work for me, the Bobbi Brown is just too small, and the Amika is a nice substitute for a perfume sample.

I jumped on the bandwagon after last month’s Box by resubscribing, and cancelled again when I saw what I was getting. I got products for oily skin I can’t use on my dry skin, products for curly hair I can’t use on my straight hair, products have gotten in past boxes, and a tiny face wash. I’ve used stuff from other boxes but this month was like throwing away $10.

Hello just wondering if anyone else had problems with the supergoop? I am not sure if i am doing something wrong or if it is damaged. I’ve shaken it really well and no matter how much I press the spray nothing comes out. When I opened the bottle up the product inside was the consistency of jello almost, I know it’s supposed to be goop but obviously I’m guessing it’s too thick to come out the sprayer. Just wondering if anyone had any tips or a similar problem? Not sure if i can add water or something to it or if that will ruin it

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

I’ve had multiple bottles of both the Supergoop and Coola setting sprays clog up/not work : (

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I couldn’t believe it but this was the first month ever that I liked and will use every single thing that I got. I threw the bag away.

Reply ButtonReply

Elizabeth

The Briogeo is one of my favorite new products. I splurged on the full size last month and I loooove the shine it gives my hair. And the smell!!!

Brittney Shock

Has anyone who received the supergoop had trouble with it? I am unsure if im doing something wrong or if it’s defective.. I shook it as it said to and kept pressing the sprayer and nothing came out… so I peeked inside and noticed that it actually was a gel/jello type consistency that was probably unable to come out the sprayer… I get that it’s “goop” but this was almost solidified … can i like tap this onto my face or use a brush or something ? Hate to waste it but am unsure if it can still be used … I’m kinda a newbie at makeup and just picture myself trying to set my face with this and just smearing everything. Thanks for any comments or help !!!!!!!

I got 843 and I’m kinda bummed. 3 products that I already have and won’t use up for a long time (2 of which I received in past Sephora play boxes!!! 🙄) a lipstick that I’m happy to try but doubt I’ll be able to pull off, a spf primer that looks alright, and one anti-frizz hair sheet. Just overall a kinda boring box??

Also… is there two Sephora brand products in every box? Based off my variation and the one in the review. Seems like the value is low this month as well.

Oh well, hopefully next month is better.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa B.

No, not usually. Last month I did have two Sephora collection items, but it was the only box out of all the different ones with 2 Sephora Collection items. Usually just 1 Sephora brand.

Reply ButtonReply

AH

I had zero Sephora products in my box this month. So happy to have a red lipstick free box, I’ve received way too many the last few months.

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

I got box 892, and I’m pretty sure there was only one Sephora brand product…. the micellar water.

Reply ButtonReply

Mikayla

Hahaha I just looked on the website and the Murad spf primer is currently a weekly wow deal… 50% off

I’ve noticed that in these posts that it says that you can get that month as long as you order by the 15th of the month. I signed up non March 9th, 2018, and am not receiving anything at all this month. When I go to sephora.com through a browser, it shows nothing in my recent orders at all, even though I’ve ordered other items besides the subscription within the past few days and weeks. In the app though it shows all of my orders but not the subscription. I’m so confused and I really really wanted this month. Such a bummer!

Contact their customer service 1 877-737-4672.
Let me say, their app is a pain with the subscription. You need to get what you paid for.

Stass

I signed up on the 9th & didn’t receive anything so I emailed them & they said you have to sign up between the 1st & 4th because thats the billing cycle.

I have really been loving micellar water lately. I’ve tried the BioDerma, Garnier and one other brand I can’t remember the name. Thinking this would be the same as the others, I poured some on a cotton pad and started wiping away my eye makeup. OUCH! This stuff freakin burned! It has a chemical type sent also. It does take off face makeup just fine but I’d warn about using it on eyes, even though it says you can on the bottle.

Reply ButtonReply

Trisha

Same thing happened to me! That’s terrible! Never had such a bad reaction to any other brand. Used it twice and tossed it in trash.

Reply ButtonReply

Lesly

I’ve used the one made just for eyes and it still burns!! Used it up and never bought again.

Cat

I just got mine on Monday, and while I liked most of my variation, the bag is so offensive. The trend of saying “spirit animal” is so degrading to those who have it as an actual part of their belief system. I was pretty appalled that Sephora used the phrase like they did just to exploit the festiv trend. No better than people wearing war bonnets to Coachella etc. I’m disappointed that such a large brand would market something like this. People make mistakes all the time, but a company like this and no one along the way thought this was a bad idea? Eek.

I am Native American and this was my favorite Play bag ever. The saying didn’t bother me, but I thought the material was the softest we’ve ever received and I adore tie dye.

Reply ButtonReply

justmissjamey

My comments never show up…and now watch..both will appear..i a, native American and for the very first time in many moons for once I LOVED the bag and am trying to figure out what I could use it for. Honestly, the bag was the best part of the month for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Bobbie

Agreed! I am part Native American and a tribal member and I LOVED the bag. My favorite part of the whole box!

Amber

Maybe it could be re-used as a sachet? Idk if you could get unscented dried flowers or what-have-you and you could use your favorite essential oils

Luna

I’m half Native American, and I have to say I really enjoyed the bag too!

Virginia

I obviously live in a cocoon as I have never heard “spirit animal” as part of an organization/belief. I am more concerned about Tokyomilk having a product called Bulletproof with a gun on the package. We should go with the belief that no hidden intent or agenda was meant and probably wasn’t. People are just too politically correct these days. I can’t even keep up.

Reply ButtonReply

Hoola

That sounds right up my alley. I’m going to go check that out now.

Amber

Well put, Virginia. I wish we could all quit finding reasons to be offended and outraged.

Marion

Yeah. Aside from the gross appropriation aspect, it also…. just doesn’t make sense.

I hope Sephora sees the negative reaction I’ve seen in multiple forums about this. I hope they make it right by giving some of the profits they made off this back to the Native American community.

Reply ButtonReply

justmissjamey

I’m native American and I honestly thought it was the cutest bag I had ever got in the many years I have been with them and have been trying to figure out a way to use it.

I wanted to try the sephora powder so bad and it looks like it would have been a good skin match for me, but I’ve learned that’s how it goes with sephora and most beauty boxes/bags.

My issue is the ugly purple grey lipstick…like how does THAT even work or look good?! I feel about the same as the pink, mauve, color everywhere always seems to send out (allure 2 months in a row) it’s like not many can pull that color off and look good in it with their skin tone and hair color, but yet all these beauty boxes keep on sending the same.

Cat

*festival trend, wish I could type.

I always look forward to receiving my Play! by Sephora Box. Last month for some reason I didn’t get my box but as soon as I wrote to CS, they issued a new box and it arrived very fast. The box I got this month seems to be lacking everything. I didn’t even get the sample perfume (which is one thing that I really like). I did get the stila black eyeliner and basically that is all. A tiny tube of Bobby Brown face shine, Korres face cleaner (ok I guess…would prefer perfume sample). There was also the face spray (still prefer perfume sample), then there is the hair balm (perfume please) that brings us to the Grand Finale….an itsy bitsy single use (oops another hair product) Amika hair mask (no perfume). I shall keep my sub because next month can’t be anything but better. Right 😕

Reply ButtonReply

Snowhitetwin

I got the same box and now I cancelled. The samples were miniscule and I gave most items away. I would rather sub to a more expensive subscription box where I can get more bang for my dollar. A few of these $10 subs add up so I’m taking a break from them all.

Reply ButtonReply

Rachel

Doing the math on the products, the perfume sample is a better deal than the single use hair items (value wise). I’ve seen folks argue that you can just go into a Sephora to get a free perfume sample, but I have family that get the box who don’t live anywhere close to a Sephora. Also, I can get weeks out of a perfume sample versus a single use of a shampoo/conditioner sample.

I wouldn’t mind if they alternate hair care and perfume samples as the extra item, but I hope perfume samples aren’t gone completely.

Cat

The perfume sample has always been a bonus item, and this month the hair mask from amika was in lieu of perfume. This is the variation I got as well. I wish the Bobbi Brown item were larger, I won’t be able to tell if it’s a product I like with that amount. I also am confused why I got this one with the moisture cream for dry hair when my profile is worried about volume and oily hair. I dig the cleanser and eyeliner and the supergoop item is really good.

Reply ButtonReply

Sara

My boxes have been terrible the last few months, so I finally cancelled. If they come out with another luxe box or start including samples of new releases, I’m all in.

Reply ButtonReply

Jessica

Agreed. I canceled after receiving yet another dissspointing box. The perfume and mascara were both repeats, several times now. I find I get repeats in almost every box now and mot the good stuff.

Reply ButtonReply

Misti

I did the same too much hair stuff and black eye liner no more Play by Sephora and I was getting 1 for me and 1 for mt teen and neither were that great

Reply ButtonReply

Mini

Mine too! I didn’t receive any of these cool items!

Reply ButtonReply

This was my bag this month, and to be honest I was a little disappointed. It’s just kind of boring. The powder foundation is OK, and it does match my skin tone. But my hair has plenty of volume already so the Briogeo product is lost on me. The mascara is a been-there-done-that product and so is the micellar water; I’m fairly certain they sent it in a recent box. I’ll use everything except the hair product, I guess. At least it’s useful?

Reply ButtonReply

Cat

I’d be bummed if my bags kept including mostly Sephora’s branded products over variations with actual brands. I wanted to try IGK products out, but the moisture item I got is pretty useless to my hair type, which confuses me as to my variation.
